Nike uniform unveiling discussion
Maddog69 replied to Wayne Cubed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
there was a rumor a few weeks ago that we would see the Blue pants with the white jerseys. This would make me very happy. -
was this sarcasm or serious?
-
Not really. It is a $14m base salary for a perennial probowler It is not an astronomical number for a team with cap space like the Bills. But you would think any more would be conditional with the draft pick compensation escalating if he signs an extension
-
I'd be willing to send them a mid round pick if Freeney would accept a re-structure/extension
-
Like most everyone else in the world, Buddy probably thinks Whitner is a douche

Fun with trades that never happen in the NFL
Maddog69 replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. A team does not get better by patching one hole and making another one. Getting rid of Freddy would weaken the Offense. CJ is good but the Bills are better with CJ and Freddy together. Keep Freddy and add a DE. If NYG wants to trade Osi, send them Carrington and a 2nd rd pick. -
Chances of Bills signing both Mario and Wimbley
Maddog69 replied to PDaDdy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the Bills signing one of these guys is probably a tad bit of a fantasy. Having the Bills sign both is just not even in the realm of possibility -
I know. But our timeline for a restructure would be much different and our offer may be different. The point is that we would not have to have him restructure since we are not in cap jail like the Raiders are. Somebody else posted that veterans cannot be traded until FA starts, I don't know if that is true, but it could be the reason he will not be traded.
-
that is what I was thinking. The cap is not an issue for us at this point. That would be great because we would not have to get into a bidding war. We could always work with him to restructure the deal if necessary.

I think they will address pass rush in FA and will take the best available OT at 10.

Why We're Heading In The Right Direction
Maddog69 replied to HuSeYiN1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The last few years I have been extremely pessimistic (even negative) in the off season. The last decade of futiliry has really been difficult. But I feel really good about where the Bills are right now. I think we are in a better position now than at any point since Marv was our coach. I think the FO has made a lot of solid moves in the last couple years (especially recently). Sure they have made some screw ups, but who doesn't? I cannot help but feel excited for the upcoming FA period and the draft and am really looking forward to camp and the start of the season. I swear to got I will pee my pants if we can somehow sign Mario Williams or Wimbley. We desperately need a stud pass rusher. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think this might be the year we get back into the playoffs. -
I think Mario is going to end up getting $16-18m per year. Wimbley will probably get $12 or more.
-
It would be nice for him to be cut now and get a chance to sign with someone before Mario is available.
-
I was really worried that Chandler was not going to be coming back. I love that they re-signed him. I love the message it sends to the players that the Front office has faith in what they are building. This is the most optimistic I have felt about the Bills in a very long time.
-
I think this signing is nearly as important as re-signing Stevie. Chandler is the best TE we've had on this team in years.

All Peyton Manning, all the time!
Maddog69 replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills are going to spend big money on one FA, I would much rather have it be Mario Williams rather than Peyton Manning. -
I don't think Fitz is great, but he is far from the Bills' biggest problem. He can get the job done if surrounded by talent.
-
I don't think the Bills will have their final draft priorities set until they see what happens in FA. If they re-sign Bell, they will be less likely to take an OT early. If they don't sign Bell or a replacement then they will be forced to take a tackle early. Same goes with DE, LB and potentially WR
-
Don;t forget they also signed David Clowney a few weeks ago
-
He would immediately become FA target #1 in my book
-
The guy was the first Bills WR ever to have 2 consecutive 1000 yard seasons. That is not something to sneeze at. We've had some good receivers and QBs in the past and none could combine for that achievement. I agree that we would definitely have somebody in his place, but it would not be as easy for us to replace him and his production as it would be for the Pats to replace Wes Welker. Tommy would just throw more passes to Gronk and Hernandez. Oh, and when we benched Stevie can you tell me what happened? WE LOST. We were winning when Stevie was in the game. Dare I say dominating. When he got benched, we got killed.
-
while I am not saying that Stevie is a better player than Welker, I would argue that Stevie is more important to his team. Welker has Brady throwing to him and Brady makes almost any receiver look good. When Welker was injured Edelman looked like an All Pro. If Welker dies tomorrow, the Pats offense would not miss a beat. If we lost Stevie we would be screwed.

For the first time in a while, I'm not pissed off.
Maddog69 replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
in his defense, he was not flagged for the T-shirt thing last year so he did not think it would be a problem this year. He was just trying to have some fun. I like his personality. I have no problem with him celebrating when he does good things. I think he is smart enough to figure out the rules and celebrate with his teammates and within the rules. He does not seem to be a stupid person or to be a thug, plus he is a young man. I think he will mature and I will honestly be shocked if you see him get this type of penalty again. The bigger concern for me is the concentration so that he does not make those key drops at the wrong time. That is what I am hoping will change as he matures. I certainly would not put him in the 'idiot' category like Pacman, Haynesworth or Whitner.
