  1. Brian Bulaga. Starting LT on the Superbowl Champs or Pierre-Paul would have been better picks for the Bills. I don't care if Spiller goes on to have a great career, I still hate the pick. We had Lynch and Jackson, Spiller was a waste. Plus, RBs like him can be had in later rounds (Dexter McCluster). We had much bigger needs that have still not been addressed. Say what you want but I hate the pick. I am glad that Spiller is finally contributing, but the whole thing was still idiotic. Use a top ten pick on a position or strength without addressing the weaknesses and then trade Lynch for an extra jock strap. These types of moves are why the Bills are where they are.
  2. Who are Dan Dalton and Tim Teabow?
  3. I found it interesting that we constantly bash Jax for lack of fan support but they had higher total attendance in 2011 than we did. They had 498,655 for 8 home games (avg per game 62,332). We had 438,864 for 7 home games (62,695 per game) add in the Toronto "home" game attendace of 52,134 for a total of 460,998 (61,375 avg). So we should probably stop slapping Jax around for lack of fan support. **another really interesting not was that Cincy had the lowest attendamce and they made the playoffs. (394,609 for 8 gaames or 49,326 avg)
  4. I wonder if he is treating it with the "purple drank"?
  5. Great points. And thanks for an intelligent reply. It is nice to disagree respectfully and share logical yet opposing viewpoints. To follow up on your point about Schotty not being at fault because Sanchez is not putting in the work. Isn't part of the position coaches job to find a way to motivate a player to put in the work? This could include showing him examples of other successful QBs and how they got there, it could include sceraming and yelling or it could be coddling. Whatever is needed. If he cannot motivate one QB, how is he going to be a HC and motivate an entire team?
  6. This is crap. When guys turn out good (Brees and Rivers) it is because he developed them and when they don't (Sanchez) it is because the player sucks? Maybe Rivers and Brees are good and make Schotty look good. Maybe Sanchez isn't good and since Schotty isn't either, they failed together. I love the fact that he passed up a head coaching oppty and is now looking for work. I am hoping the same happens to Jay Gruden too. He's another guy who has gotten to where he is because of his name and is now a bit too big for his britches.
  7. 1.) If you look hard enough, multiple penalties can be called on each and every play in the NFL 2.) Refs are human and make mistakes. They miss calls. Get over it 3.) The Steelers still blew coverage on the play and got beat. Not because of a blown call, but because they blew the coverage 4.) Roethlisberger is a serial rapist and should be in jail, therefore by the logic of this thread, the Steelers should forfeit every game he has been on the roster since the crimes occured. 5.) James Harrison's selfish penalty for the late hit on Tebow cost Pitt this game more than this missed penalty.
  8. If you think Hairston and Bell are fine at LT, then you should be fine with Dareus and Carrington at DE. My point is that getting a good/great LT should be as important a priority as getting a good/great DE and LB. You need all of those things. Bell is decent but cannot stay healthy. Hairston looked like he has some potential but is a big question mark for a team that desperately needs a playoff run.
  9. I think, and this is probably obvious, but what we do in FA will determine what we look to do in the draft. If we sign Stevie and another WR, we won't be looking at WR in Rd1. If we don't get Stevie and another WR, we will be looking at on in the draft. Same goes with DE, LB and OT. Our draft strategy will depend heavily on what we do in FA. On a separare point, I see Cliff Avril mentioned alot as an option. My fear with him is that his production is due mainly because of Suh, Fairly and VandenBosch getting all the attention from opposing OLs. Any thoughts?
  10. My Dream scenario would be: re-sign Stevie we get our starting LT in Rd1 (Reif would be awesome) sign a FA WR (Bowe, Colston, Meachum, etc) Sign a pass rush DE in free agency (Avril, Mathis, etc Draft a CB in Rd2-3 and draft 3 DE/LB pass rush guys and hopefully one of them works out.
  11. My favorite Whitner memory is him whining about the "police brutality" in Cleveland after he got tased for not minding his own business. Then running his mouth about how the truth would come out and he would prove his innocence before he plead guilty. I guess he doesn't like to be held accountable for his actions either by Law enforecement or his emploters. The dude is a menace to himself.
  12. Since he has never actually done anything in his career so far, a career game would not be that hard. Maybe he can celebrate a tackle for less than a 15 yard gain. Or maybe he can be within a few feet of Jimmy Graham on one of his TD catches he is usually just running into the screen shot when the TE is spiking the ball. Whitner is an average safety who has maturity issues and talks on Twitter like a teenage girl. The rest of the NFL must not have thought much of him since he was on the clearance rack for SF to sign at the start of camp. Bills fans hatred of him is understandable. His infatuation with his unsuccessful past in Buffalo is comical and sad.
  13. this comment from Donte is funny considering how be openly negged to come back here but was looking for the big payday that never came. In the end he took less money than Buffalo initially offered because the offered did not come for Whitner while the Bills moved on. Classic sour grapes comment with no facts to back it up. I'm not the biggest Gailey fan, but I would not say he calls out players to take blame away from himself. He often points out his mistakes as well as pointing out that some of the players need to do better. I enjoy his candor and would think that mature players would as well.
  14. What I hate most about our offense is that it is not good. Hopefully, with another year together and some additional talent, they will be better next year. They were impressive at times. Let's see if they can become more consistent.
  15. The sad thing is that we have so many needs that almost any position besides DT makes sense for us in Rd1. Top priorities should be a pass rusher (OLB or DE), LT and WR
  16. anybody who has an issue with this signing is a clown
  17. I guess I would say Luck Seems to be the most sure candidate to be really good. Manning was great but may never play again RGIII would be my second choice. In Order, assumin the cost each would be the same Luck RGiii Manning Fitz Flynn
  18. It would be funny to see them re-sign Stevie for 6-7m per year and then go sign V Jax for $9m per year and watch Stevie pout and cry for 5 years,
  19. I think we will draft 9th. Carolina beats us in SOS.
  20. their cheapness is well known and it is not about to change. My point was that Nix has to maximize what he can get out of the budget he's given. He cannot afford to overpay, especially for less than elite talent.
  21. There are a few problems with overpaying a player like Stevie 1.) The Bills do not and will not spend to the cap so saying they have cap room is irrelevant. They have a specific and limited player budget so they cannot afford to overpay guys just to keep them. They have too many holes. That extra $1-1.5m per year for Stevie could be used to get a veteran backup OL or could be the difference between landing a UFA and just missing. They have to be smart about their spending unless Ralph sells the team to Pegula. 2.) Overpaying for one payer sets a bad precedent. You will end up like the Sabres with guys like Hecht, Pominvillem Gaustad, Miller, etc making WAY too much money. 3.) If you are going to overpay, you do it for elite players. If you have to pay a few million extra to get a superstar, then you do it. Stevie is not a superstar, He is a run of the mill WR with potential. 4.) RALPH IS CHEAP. He won't overpay for anybody. (Sorry, had to throw that in there)
  22. Relax Dude. It's just my opinion. But with regard to your comparison to Mike Thomas, it is clear to me that you aren't an NFL talent evaluator negotiating multi-million dollar deals either. None of us are. When teams sign players they don't simply compare him to one player and sign him for a contract that corresponds to his value versus that player. Stevie will be compared to all current and past NFL players and will be offered a contract that the Bills think is fair. It seems reasonable to me that the Bills would be offering $5-6m and it is reasonable that Stevie is asking for $7.5 or more. If he goes to UFA, he'll get the money. Somebody will pay it regardless of whether or not he is truly worth it or not. Stevie will be this year's Bernard Berrian or TJ Houshmanzadeh. I'd like the Bills to keep him but I don't really want them to overpay. I say that because they don't tend to spend up to the cap and they need to be smart about using their limited payroll budget to get as many good players as possible. They have lots of needs. I would love to see Stevie say, but if he goes, I think he can be replaced fairly easily by somebody like Brandon Lloyd or some other cast off receiver. BTW - How sad is it that you are comparing our Bills to the Jags?
  23. $7.5 is probably a bit more than I personally think he is worth. I would say he is in the $6m range. But if they get him signed for $7.5per year or less (especially for 4-5 years or more), I would be thrilled with it and I would think it is a fair deal for both sides. He's not quite worth that money yet, but hopefully by the end of the contract he is underpaid.
  24. Statistically, Byrd and Wilson are far superior to Whitner in every category except fumble recoveries and Scott is not far behind. Whitner is not in the top 50 in tackles. He is an average safety who is getting publicity because he is on a good D. Good for him. I'm still thrilled he's gone. I could not stand watching him play.
