Trent Edwards is probably available. I can picture Trent prancing through the Alps. Seems like it is right up his alley.

it would be awesome if they both went in together

Bills "real close" to re-signing Steve Johnson
Maddog69 replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where did he report that? I don't see it on his Twitter acct. Thanks. -
I agree with everything you said. Would love Olsen paired with Chandler. I would also not mind Jerome Simpson along with Stevie. He's got good size, speed and potential.

Does Buffalo have a draft plan B?
Maddog69 replied to Cheddar's Dad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Starting the thread with a stupid question removed any credibility from the rest of the thread, in my opinion. "Does Buffalo have a Plan B" is, in my opinion a really stupid question. It's like asking "Will the sun come up tomorrow". To me, this is a lesson for anyone starting a post. The title should give a reasonable idea of what the thread is about. In this case, the question should have been "If Coples is Plan A, who is Plan B?" And if you didn't like my response, why not just move on to a response you agree with instead of lecturing me like you are my Father? I expressed my opinion on a message board, there nerve of me. -
Does Buffalo have a draft plan B?
Maddog69 replied to Cheddar's Dad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The subject line is what really got me started. Does Buffalo have a plan B. Yes. They are an NFL team, they have several plans (Whether or not any of the plans are any good is probably a better topic). Secondly, none of us has a clue what their plan A is let alone their plan B. So, if the OP wanted to have a discussion about what the Bills priorities are, who they have at the top of their board and who they might pick if that person is not their, he could have more clearly posted that instead of asking a silly "rehetorical" question. Not to mention the fact that he could have simply posted that question in one of the hundreds of threads already going on about who the Bills will/should draft. -
Does Buffalo have a draft plan B?
Maddog69 replied to Cheddar's Dad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great response. To the OP, I don't mean to be rude but this is really an idiotic question. YES the Bills have a plan B. Every NFL team runs through hundreds and hundreds of scenarios as they plan for the draft and Free agency. Only morons on a message board identify one prospect and claim that we are doomed if that guy is not the Bills' pick. -
The Senior Bowl and Coples, Upshaw, and Ingram
Maddog69 replied to Cheddar's Dad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be fine with a quality LT prospect in Rd1 -
If we play a 4-3, Barnett will definitely start at MLB Hopefully we sign Avril and draft an OLB Avril, Dareus, Williams and Kelsay upfront Sheppard, Barnett and Rookie (Upshaw?) at LB
-
agreed. These are the 3 biggest needs in my opinion. Fitz is serviceable. I would love an upgrade but that would not be a top priority.
-
GB - LT - Chad Clifton(All pro). They don;t have a premier DE, but Matthews makes up for it. NE - Mayo and Spikes are very good LB. Welker is a HOF caliber WR. Their DBs are not great, admittedly but benefir from great players around them Obviously, it is difficult to get all pro's everywhere. My point is that the talent on the team needs to be upgraded drastically. I don't think there is one position on the roster that I would say we are 100% set except RB
-
Yes. All-Pro. And yes. There are several teams that have them. GB, Pitt, NE, NO. You know, the good teams.
-
The Bills need: 1.) Franchise QB 2.) Premier LT 3.) Premier DE 4.) Premier LB 5.) Premier WR 6.) Premier TE 7.) Premier CB I want the Bills to fill each of these positions whether it be the draft or FA. Until they do, they will continue to suck.
-
this is strictly your opinion. None of these guys are guaranteed to be successful. And before we jump the gun, Dareus has performed decently so far, but he is far from the dominant player you would want from a #3 overall pick. Luck and Rg3 are not low risk either. Until they prove otherwise, they have just as much chance of being a bust as anyone else. The draft is a massive crap shoot. Every year, these "low risk" guys get drafted early and do nothing while other more risky players get taken later on and become great. Any argument to the contrary is absolutely untrue. You have no way of knowing which of these guys are guaranteed to succeed. If you let Weeden sit for two years before playing him he will be 31yrs old before his first start.
-
Nobody they pick is going to be a sure thing. The draft is littered with busts at each and every position.
-
So did Fitz and it earned him a huge extension
-
we did draft almost exclusively on Defense last year and look how well that turned out. Just kidding. It takes time for picks to develop most of the time. We have a lot of young draftees who are still developing. How many more should we pick and how quickly should we give up on the ones picked? I think we need to let the guys we have develop and we need to fill the rest of the holes with FA's. If we can get a stud DE or LB in Rd1, great. But I am less thasn convinced than anyone we pick is going to come in immediately and have a big impact.
-
I think this is the main difference between Fans and NFL Decisiion makers. Fans look at the draft as a means to fill immediate holes whereas NFL Execs look at it as a means for selecting the players they feel will have the best, most productive careers over the long term. I think what you are suggesting is very short sighted. We should be looking at the draft as a means to build a perpetually competitive team not just a means of filling next years roster.
-
I agree with you in principle, but I don't think it is as simple as that for a few reasons. 1.) if the Bills identify Tannehill as a franchise QB and as BPA, the pick makes sense since Fitz's contract is really more of a 3yr deal. 2.) what if they re-sign Stevie and D. Bell and sign Cliff Avril, Pierre Garcon and a stud LB (I know, I know. It's just a hypothetical) I personally would prefer for them to take a starting LT, DE or LB in Rd1 but I could totally understand and get behind this pick especially if some of the other areas of need are addressed in FA.
-
Gil Brandt thinks Tannehill will go in the top 10. Would you be mad if the Bills took him and let him sit behind Fitz for a couple years?
-
Can they get to the playoffs with Gailey? Yes. If they add major pieces in UFA (Premier DE, LB, OT, WR and possible TE). Will they? No. I dont expect them to make the necessary additions. I expect another lackluster year and I expect Gailey to be gone after next year. I hope they prove me wrong.

You do realize that is a fake article from "the Onion", right? -
State funding for RWS Stadium improvements?
Maddog69 replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
that has been covered on this board about 1000 times. Do some research. The money spent on the Bills will provide more than sufficient ROI -
That was really a stupid bet on Thoner's part. Even if Miller only had 2 games where he got a sack, Thoner would lose money. The only way he could have won is if Miller only had Zero or One sack.
-
Last year he started at LT when Clifton was injurad and was the starting LT for the Packers in the Superbowl. This is a really good point and one I really hadn't thought of. While I hate the Lynch trade, I can understand how the franchise got to that point. And Freddy's age does make the Spiller pick make a bit more sense.
