  1. the thing that drives me nuts is when they throw a flag and then it gets picked up and you hear "there was no penalty on the play for...". If there is no penalty, why did the geriatric in the striped shirt throw a flag. Making it even worse is when an official with a worse vantage point convinces the official who threw the flag that he didn't see what he saw. It's absurd. Same with the blown calls, keep track of guys who throw flags that get picked up. If they other refs have to keep correcting them, they need to be fired.
  2. Wait for the paramedics to arrive and pick me off the pavement after I leap from the upper deck at RWS. Just kidding, I will go home and spend the money that I've been saving for playoff tickets.
  3. especially when we already have a first round QB who has been given less than a full season to develop.Let's just keep drafting QBs and then dumping them if they're not Johnny Unitas on the first day of minicamp.
  4. That is my thought on intentional grounding. Many times you see a QB throw it away on purpose. Even if a receiver is in the area, you can clearly see no attempt or intention to actually get it to the receiver. However, I don't want to open the rule up to any more arbitrary discretion from the officials than it already is.
  5. That's the scary part of their schedule. The really need to win the next 6 games straight to have a chance at 10-6.
  6. Jimmy Clausen, Tony Pike, Dan LeFevour
  7. Orton's deal has a player option for year 2. He can void it if he wants. Which he may choose to do if: 1.) He plays well as our starter and thinks he will get a better deal elsewhere. 2.) He plays poorly as our starter and we bring in another starter like Bradford. 3.) There is a coaching change and he doesn't want to team with a tear down and start over. 4.) He wants to stay home with his family.
  8. Playoffs. Which isn't going to happen.
  9. Like many others have said, it depends on what he wants to be paid, how Orton finishes the rest of this year, if Orton comes back next year and how EJ looks if he gets back in. I would think we will have EJ, a veteran and a rookie here next year. Orton may be that Vet. If not, Bradford might be worth a look at the right price given his injury history.
  10. Seems like a common sense relation between QB rating and winning. A high QB rating generally means you QB played well. If your QB plays well, your chance of winning would be higher. Obviously there are other factors but in general, I would think this is true more often than not.
  11. I'm not sure the Bills are good enough to "smash" anybody. You're right to think that this is a winnable game and should be won by the Bills since it is at home. But to expect them to "smash" Minnesota is probably setting the bar too high.
  12. This needs to be a win to keep any playoff hopes alive.
  13. If Marone is still here next year, I pray that they force him to dump Hackett.
  14. I really like Mariucci. I'd love to see Pegula take a run at getting him out of the booth.
  15. Yep, get a good QB and protect him with high picks on the OL, WRs, TEs and a Great RB. When he's healthy....WIN. Then get to the playoffs and watch him choke.
  16. Man I hope you're right. I just can't get there. I think we split with the Jets and we should be the Raiders (although we are playing there and they are not likely to go 0-16. Other than that rest of the games will be tough. We should be able to beat either Minnesota or KC, I doubt we beat both. Cleveland is going to be a difficult game, since it's home I think we have a shot. Denver, GB and NE are all guaranteed losses. So, we beat Jets, Raiders, and Minnesota, Lose to Miami, Jets, NE, GB, KC and Denver. That leaves the Cleveland game. a win gets us to 7 total.
  17. I don't know why people love to use the term "regressed". He had a couple of tough games against good teams. The team around him sucks (as proven by the struggles when EJ isn't the QB). To me "regressed" would mean that he had a long stretch of good/great games followed by a long stretch of crappy ones. But I am being nit picky. Anyway, I agree with you that the benching was probably a good thing. It lets EJ relax and watch a few games and it shows everyone else that they problems on offense are not all caused by EJ. Has he played poorly, especially in the last two games, certainly. Can he play better, I think so. I thought it at the time Orton went in and I still expect it to happen that Orton will get the next two games. If he can win both or atleast play great in both without the stupid mistakes of the last two games, then he continues. Otherwise EJ goes back in after the bye and gets the rest of the year to show what he has. I am very confident in saying that Orton is not taking this team to the playoffs.
  18. I've been saying it for weeks. I think there's a very good chance that Bill Cowher is our next HC. Well, technically Jim Schwartz will be our next HC but that'll be interim when Marrone is sent packing just after we get embarrassed on Thursday night in Miami. That win total is not guaranteed. He seems like a safe bet to take over in SF when they trade Harbaugh
  19. I think the offense and defense both contributed to the loss. As did the coaching. As I said before, this was a team loss. Too many mistakes and too many penalties.
  20. I agree with this post 100,000,000 Percent Keep making excuses for him. Bad ball security. He missed the some open throws. He stood in the pocket WAY to long and took sacks. Were you at the game? I was. He made a lot of mistakes. Sure he made some nice passes. And a lot of completions on short passes. He was better this week than last. But, we still lost. He made enough mistakes to hurt the team as much as EJ ever has. Someone on here said that you shouldn't attribute wins and losses to QBs and I agree. But then why do so many people blame EJ for the losses to Houston and SD with all of the other things that are now being used to excuse Orton losing still present? It's the double standard that drives me nuts. The team is not good enough to beat top teams, so don't blame the QB. Orton has had 8 years to demonstrate his mediocrity and has done it expertly. I see no reason to have EJ on the bench. He can lose to NE just as good as Orton did and he might learn something and improve so he might one day beat them. I feel like this is a wasted season with Orton. Atleast with EJ, we might make progress towards finding our QB of the future. Many here are convinced EJ is not it. I'm not there yet. I want to see as many more starts this season as possible so I don't go into next season not knowing for sure whether we need to go find another young QB to develop. I do know for sure that Orton is not the QB of the future. LOL. Oh, Orton only gave them 10 points. That's SOOOO much better.
  21. The offense gave up 3 turnovers. Too many penalties. To many missed throws and no running game. Putting this loss completely on the defense is disregarding facts. This was a team loss.
  22. Yes. 6-6 heading in to the Denver game rather than the 9-3 as per the OP. I think we win 2-3 of the 4 home games and lose the two road games.
  23. Not gonna happen. I'm putting them at 6-6 at the very best
  24. The defense held them in the game in the first half. Orton single handedly gave New England 10 points and Spiller gave them 3 more. The offense played a big role in losing this game too. We would have lost last week too if Detroit had a kicker.
  25. Assuming Orton starts next year, I seriously consider canceling my season tickets. We need good coaches, HC, OC and DC all suck. Beyond it is hard to judge the talent because many players appear to be out of position, over/under or incorrectly utilized. This coaching staff is horrendous. Not sure what to think about Whalley but I feel like if he's still here, he will be a yes man to a coach with all the authority. Here is where we definitely need roster help QB (EJ is probably not the answer and Orton certainly isn't) OG - obviously TE CB/Safety - Gilmore is overrated, McKelvin is not a starter, need a #1 for sure and depth. (but these guys would be helped by a pressuring style defense. LB - I like our LBs for the most part but could add depth especially if Spike and Hughes (I know he is LB/DE) leave.
