Yep. The NFL got Orton to retire from the Cowboys so we could sign him. Sneaky bastards.

Exactly, The Bills suck but people want to B word about the refs. All 3 of the 'controversial' call were deserved, albeit many times they are not called. -The pass interference, Gilmore hit the receiver a nanosecond early. It was VERY close to perfect, but it was a tiny bit early. -The grounding penalty, the ref said he saw Watkins make the inside move and Orton threw the ball outside. The Ref never saw Watkins make the second move. That said, Orton was throwing it away and not really trying for a completion. -the Hughes penalty - he bumped the official as he attempted to get back at the Miami player. Dumb penalty. Shut up and go do your job. The penalties did seem to be excessive towards us and not so much for Miami but we have an undisciplined team. I honestly have no complaint about the refs. We stunk and got beat fair and square.

Who do you WANT as the Bills coach in 2015?
Maddog69 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What about Bill Lazor? Seems to be getting credit for building an offense around Foles last year and Tannehill this year. -
Do whatever you have to do get pick #199. Take a QB with that pick. It worked for New England, maybe it will work for us.

Beg, borrow, or steal but please get Cowher, or Dungy
Maddog69 replied to rcatty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am 100% confident Cowher would build an excellent coaching staff. Most of the coaches in the NFL have been around for years, if not decades. Cowher is very well connected. He is by far the #1 choice in my mind to lead to Bills back to Championship quality football. -
this I can totally agree with I agree with a lot of what you said, but I just wanted to point out that Orton is already signed for next year. Its a players option for $5m, my guess is he will pick up the option to make $5m for sucking.

The Bills will hire someone to run the football operations. That person decides who stays and goes. My opinions: Marrone and the entire coaching staff are gone. Russ will stay but have nothing to do with Football Ops Whalley may stay but will have reduced authority.

Are you ready to admit Orton's the problem yet?
Maddog69 replied to Oberyn's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the thing that drives me nuts about the EJ haters. You have no idea if he will or will not get better. Neither do I. Nobody does. I know he has had some good games, I know that he is mobile. I know that he has had game winning drives. I know that Orton has had 10 years to show what he is. He's decent. But he's not getting the job done. I'd like EJ to be playing, getting experience, building confidence and building chemistry with his receivers. It makes no sense to me to waste any more time with Orton. Now, I know someone is going to say "Orton is so much better. Look at the stats. 64% completion percentage vs EJ's 58%". That equates to approximately 2 extra completions per game. Give it a rest. Orton is playing like crap and does not "Give us a better chance to win". They are both .500 and Orton has has a couple games handed to him (NYJ and Detroit). Play EJ for the rest of the year so the next coach will have some tape to look at to decide if he can make something out of him or not. Let Orton retire again and play patty cake with his daughter. -
Lol. I posted last week wondering what the mysterious Orton illness would be. Now we know, its a Toe injury. I loved how Marrone slipped it in at the end of his Presser last night and then slinked away from the podium. This clown can't get fired soon enough for me.

Maddog69 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. But the opposite is also true. Just because a few college coaches are having success doesn't necessarily mean that we should be looking for the next hot shot college coach. -
Agreed. Except I want EJ to start the next game. I've seen enough of Orton. Let EJ get some time in winnable games. He gives us the same chance to win as Orton.

My only concern with bringing in Harbaugh is that he seems to quickly wear out his welcome. -

Maddog69 replied to rcatty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This really isn't true at all. The game is still the same. For the most part, Head coaches do things the same now as they always have. Teams are always looking for new formations and plays and such but game management hasn't changed. Cowher could step right back in and be successful. He will hire and OC and DC to run those parts of the game and based on his previous hires, I am confident he will hire good ones. If Pegula can get Cowher, I am confident we would have one of the best coaching staffs in football and we have not been able to say that in a very long time. -

the thing I like about Cowher is that he has a great track record in hiring assistant coaches and building a tough team identity that would fit well in buffalo. -

I've been saying for a while that I think Cowher is the guy Pegula will hire. -

Maddog69 replied to Oberyn's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't say Orton is the problem. The offense has A LOT of problems. Orton isn't the answer. He's not very good. Anybody saying he is better than EJ is wrong. They have basically the same record and the same stats. Orton's TD #s are propped up by the Jets game. My argument from the beginning was that the problems on offense were not all EJ's fault. These last 6 games have shown that to be correct. I would like to see EJ back as the starter immediately to give him a chance to play in some winnable games rather than throw him back in after Orton sucks for another few weeks and making EJ face NE, GB and Denver. But, to be honest, it does not matter. This staff is GONE after the season and a new coach will be here next year. I agree to a point. But the bottom line is wins. Last weeks game for me was HUGE for Orton. He had the chance to win the game and did not do it. Marrone wanted "production at the position" and he's not getting it. Orton has zero mobility. Locks onto receivers, make terrible throws, panics in the pocket. He's just not very good. We may as well play EJ and see if he can develop some consistency. He's had some very nice games early in his career that I'd like to see if he can build on. -

How Many Wins saves the Coaching staff
Maddog69 replied to rumblefish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't put it at 100%. I think he will have a new boss (VP of Football operations who takes those duties from Russ). And I think there will be a new HC. My expectation is that the new HC will be somebody that will demand final say on the roster (a Cowher, Gruden Harbaugh or a hotshot college coach). Whalley may not want to accept a reduced position or reduced authority even if he isn't fired. -
How many losses until EJ plays again?
Maddog69 replied to rsxfirefighter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. Some pretty impressive late game wins from a very inexperienced QB. Orton is starting because he is supposed to give the Bills a better chance to win. If he ends up at .500 after 6 games, he clearly isn't doing that. -

I don't think Schwartz is irreplaceable. Fire Moron, I mean Marrone. Decide who is going to run the Football operations. Let him decide on GM/HC, etc. -

If we lose tonight, I'd go back to EJ for the last 6 ganmes. KO was brought in to get better results than EJ. EJ was 2-2. Kyle would be 3-3 with a loss tonight. May as well play EJ. Season is in the crapper anyway. -
Where are you watching the game tonight ?

In my livingroom with my wife and son. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst. -

The problem for any Bills QB over the final 4 weeks is facing NE and Denver on the road and GB at Home. Plus travelling Oakland with them trying for their only win of the year. The final 4 games are going to be ugly no matter who is under center. That's why the loss to KC hurts so much.
