I'd rather see The Bills trade down and collect extra picks...I'm never in favor of giving up picks to trade up when a team has as as many holes as The Bills do, unless the target is clearly a Franchise caliber QB...There are none of those QB's in this Draft... I like the idea of Manuel...My theory is simple...If each of these QB's after Geno have big holes in their game right now, why not get the guy with the biggest upside? I think Manuel has the biggest upside of all the QB's not named Smith...I also think Manuel won't go in the Top 15...But after that there is no telling...So why not trade down a bit, grab some extra picks, and still secure Manuel? Those extra picks will come in handy...There are plenty of holes to fill...

I think Carrington will be fine, and I expect to see him continue to improve...I think he's going to get a ton of PT in 2013...He's one of a small handful of players on Defense I'm actually excited about...Like Pettine said they are going to build a Defense around the talent...I'm not worried...Carrington should have a big role...

I pretty much agree with this take, including the fact that I would be aggressively looking for a team that wants to give up their #1 in 2014 to move way up in the 1st...I think Manziel, McCarron, and Bridgewater would all be Drafted ahead of Geno Smith this year...And I like Geno Smith...

If Maronne does not want Fitz, and I have no idea if that is true or not...But for the sake of this argument...IF...It's not going to matter what his options are for this coming season...He'll view them as a step forward...Fitz's fate in Buffalo will depend on Maronne and Hackett...But I don't think it's a slam dunk whatsoever...There have been no votes of confidence for Fitz whatsoever by the two new guys...Hackett commented already that it's completely up in the air right now...When asked about Fitz Hackett said: “I think right now I have to continue to evaluate. I have to see what everything is across the board. Watching him, watching all the other quarterbacks out there, watching all the draft guys, that’s really what I’m doing right now. I’m trying to look and get the best evaluation on everybody.” It's WAY up in the air right now...But I have a feeling they will be aggressive in trying to do better than Fitz...And it's JMO, but I think Maronne and Hackett believe they can do exactly that...

How many here are NFL GM's and "one of the best talent evaluators around?" If you can live with the fact that Nix missed on Kaep or Wilson...Fine...Good for you! But I'm of the mind that if you sit around and wait for a clear Franchise QB to fall into your lap, while knowing you only have Fitz and a whole bunch of nothing behind him at the most important position, you're not going to be an NFL GM for long... Unless you're The Bills GM of course...

Patrick Peterson is in that conversation as well... No it's not a given...But is is a FACT that they are very, very, good All-Pro level NFL Football Players...Yes they landed in great systems, but they're not just good...They're much better than good...Did you see Jones in the Playoffs? Smith almost any game? I want to give Dareus all the lead-way in the world...It's not a bad thing if Marcell ends up being the 8th best player from that Draft...But I would trade him straight up for any of those players tomorrow, and I would not give it a second thought...The chances that Dareus will end up being better than Green, Jones, Smith, Watt, and even Peterson are just not great at this point ... That's fair to say...

The Bills need to bail out of that Pick at #8...I'd be more than happy to see them get an extra 2nd and grab one of these QB's within their first 3 Picks...If The Bills could Draft a LB, QB, and another position (WR, CB?) in the first two Rounds I'd be very happy...I'm ignoring the fact that I don't have any confidence in Buddy... From what I've seen with my own two eyes so far, and watched on Youtube, I still like Geno best...Then it looks to me like Manuel has the most upside after that...I'm sure the Combine and the Workouts will give a better picture overall...But all of these QB's have some pretty major learning curves to tackle...I can see each of them finding the right situation to at least be OK...And I can see each one of them flaming out in the wrong situation...It's a tough year...And all I can say is no matter who The Bills pick, it's going to be on Maronne and Hackett from there on...We'll see...

I'm looking at everything believe me... It's plenty fair...This is exactly how to judge a GM in the Draft...No GM should value a speed WR in the 3rd Round, or a CB who may have to slide to Safety in the 2nd, over the QB position unless you have one heck of a good QB in the stable...QB is the most important position on ANY team...Everyone knows that...And you can't ignore the position in the Draft, especially when your QB is average at best and your back-up's suck... San Fran was coming off a crap season when they Drafted Kaepernick, and they already had a QB that was better than Fitz...They did not hesitate to Draft Kaepernick simply because it lacked risk...They Drafted Kaepernick because it was the smart thing to do...Period...And it was not a flyer they took on him either...They took him with the intention of Coaching him up and making him a Starting caliber NFL QB... There is no way we'll ever come close to seeing eye-to-eye on this subject...So...Cheers...

I can only tell you why I personally am so negative about Nix... I saw Kaepernick and Wilson play...After I saw Aaron Williams and TJ Graham... That was enough for me... I don't think it would be tough for most GM's to do the other things you're crediting Buddy with...Wood and Levitre were already here...He did not get the legit LT prospect till Draft #3...The star RB was Drafted at a position of great strength...The Bills were in good Cap shape when Nix took over...Stevie wanted to stay and the money was there, not that I think Nix had a lot to do with how much Stevie got... Nix also Drafted a TON of Defensive Players in three years only to field a Defense each year that was among the worst in the league...He agreed not only to go with a 7th Round career journeyman at QB, but he also signed off on extending Fitz...But to make matters far worse he only Drafted one 7th Rd QB in three years as the Bills GM...There is nothing after Fitz on the current Roster at QB...Nothing... I know it seems like piling on the guy...But I just don't see how he can be defended realistically...I think he's fired if he has the same record and results over three years on all the 31 other teams...And that's JMO...

While I understand your premise, the single most obvious rebuttal would be to simply say...If Maronne does not want Fitz back The Bills most certainly would cut him, and do the best they could to fill those 3 QB spots through Free Agency, Trade, and the Draft... Consider this...Fitz had a total of 7 games in 2012 where his QB rating was 85 or above...Nick Foles, a 3rd Round Pick that was not expected to play at all, had a QB Rating of 85 or above in 5 of his 7 Starts...Is it really going to be that hard to find a QB that can match Fitz? We really have no idea what Maronne and Hackett think of Fitz...Now...I'm not saying Bills fans know better...But I do know the majority of Bills fans feel Fitz is not good enough...Period...So I think it would be premature to assume Maronne will be OK having Fitz back...Under any circumstance...There is more to this...There are Vets in the locker room that are loyal to Fitz...It could cause problems a Rookie HC wants nothing to do with, especially if they save ANY money by cutting him... I think the Fitz situation is going to be 100% Marrone's call...We'll see...

Fair enough...But Buddy was not the final word on either of those Picks...I'm certain he had plenty of input...No question... I've always felt that the biggest problem with Buddy was elevating him from a Scout, or even Head Scout, to GM...As the final say, I think it's one step too high for Nix, and it's shown...Hopefully he'll be back to Scout-mode with this QB selection, and the final say will come down to Whaley...I know that sounds backwards based on what they have told us...But I'm more comfortable with just about anyone making the final decision over Buddy...I just have no confidence in the guy... But at this point it (Nix bashing) just sounds like needless piling on...So...You're right...We'll see...

Would Dalton, Kaepernick, or Wilson have equal success in Buffalo? Probably not...I'll give you that much...Would they be clearly better than Fitz and give the Bills HUGE hope at the QB position today? You bet they would...I have zero doubt about it... That would be an awesome strategy actually...

I doubt it's just me...But go on thinking whatever you want to...The guy misjudged a few QB already in his 3 years...The fact he did not Draft them means he undervalued them... During Ryan Nassib's interview with Murph yesterday he mentioned that Buddy had asked him a question when he sat down with The Bills ...To be bluntly honest, that's all I need to know about the QB search... My guess is no matter how in-depth and exhaustive it is, if Nix is the main Scout involved, it's going to come out bad in the end...I sincerely hope I'm wrong...I would LOVE to be wrong...But I do not trust Buddy to make this call whatsoever...I don't trust him to have input whatsoever...I don't even trust him to have an opinion whatsoever...But that's just me...Right?

Agreed...It was made CRYSTAL clear that VY was coming to compete for the back-up position ONLY..This is AFTER Fitz posts individual game QB ratings of 51.9, 46.6, 45.8, 31.0, 72.6, 78.6, and 60.7 over the last 9 games of the 2011 Season...So even then Nix was steadfast in not bringing in competition for Fitz...Even after that terrible second half of 2011, by a 7th Rd. journeyman QB out of Harvard Nix stood his ground...
