  1. Every QB has faults and needs a ton of help to win big in the NFL...But you're right...Those two are light-years ahead of what we've seen over these many, many years...And add to that the fact that they give their Franchises great hope for the future...Currently the Bills have zero hope...Notta...And that in itself would make Kaepernick, and Flacco, look like the next Montana to most Bills fans...
  2. No it's not wrong thinking...It's my opinion and you have yours...See how that works? And trying to point out obvious things about the DT position that I already know, and you assume I don't, does not mean I'm thinking wrong whatsoever...Watch the film...I have...Watch Dareus get stood up down after down on some of the worst run Defenses we have EVER seen in Buffalo...Ever... Look I'm willing to give Dareus time...I have to be willing because we're stuck with him...He has shown flashes of what made him such a high pick...But consistency? There is none...And I'd like nothing more than for him to be the next great NFL DT...He was my Avatar on here for almost 2 years...I love the kid...But I don't think it's about scheme, or thinking, or any of that...It think it's about him being overweight #1...#2, I think it's about Marcell being so used to dominating with his obvious physical skills in College, then getting to the NFL and finding out everyone is good, everyone is strong, everyone is quick, etc, etc...He does not win enough at the LOS...Period...He gets stood up and blocked WAY too easily for a DT that got picked #3 overall...Just watch the tape...It's not a scheme problem on most plays...It's an initial step, get stood up, and neutralized problem WAY too much... I'm sorry but this Dareus thing is starting to remind me way too much of the arguments we all had about Fitz two years ago...Some Bills fans are watching the plays with their hearts and are missing the obvious...And for those who are assuming that Dareus is really good and just needs time to continue to improve I'll ask the same thing I asked about Fitz two years ago. What if he does not improve? What if he is exactly what you see with your own two eyes and that's just who he is as a player? What then? It's great to hope, but until he does it, it's just hollow speculation...
  3. I'm sure most Bills fans are more than willing to have patience with Dareus...But he's a DT...It's not rocket-science...I don't think scheme is what has held, or what will hold, Dareus back...
  4. Agreed... The Bills don't have a QB...More importantly they don't have a QB capable of moving the team to quick scores late in games...Something that is an absolute must if you want to win consistently in today's NFL...No matter how good the new Coaching staff is, I would be quite surprised if The Bills managed to win more than 6 games in 2013...
  5. I remember that Joe! It's funny because a lot of folks thought Marcell was a BPA pick...But some, like you, felt that Green was clearly the BPA...I absolutely remember reading that right here in the days leading up to the Draft...Others felt Peterson was...It was no where near clear cut that Dareus was the best player on the board at #3... And yes Green is a beast...But you know what? So is Julio Jones...I think 32 out of 32 would take either of them over Marcell...It's a hard pill to swallow...It's not like you can just point to one guy and say we missed...It's the whole lot of them...Special, special, talent...All-Pro talent...Defensive Player Of The Year talent... Oh well...
  6. You're grasping for some serious straws here...Fitz's strengths? You do realize that Fitz finished 27th in the league in Total QB rating right?...27th!...You think it's really that hard to find a QB that can be the 26th best QB in the NFL? Let Fitz go...Dare to believe The Bills can do better... BTW...Nine 1st or 2nd year Starters had better Total QB Ratings than Fitz in 2012...And Nick Foles was right behind Fitz at 28th... So...
  7. You got it exactly correct my friend...Could not have said it better myself...Not even gonna try...
  8. True... There are similarities in that the Bills passed on some very, very good players to Draft Maybin...But the list of talent they passed on to Draft Marcell is scary...And I'm not even saying that Dareus was not the right pick for The Bills at the time...But good grief...Green, Peterson, Jones, Watt, and Smith!!! Oh man... I have not given up on the kid either...Not by a long-shot...I'm hoping the first thing Pettine told him was that he needs to drop 25 lbs by Camp...I think with some proper guidance and Coaching Marcell could be very good...But the clock is ticking...And he darn well better improve REAL fast if he expects to be in the conversation with the massive amount of talent that came out of his Draft class...
  9. I thought it was more about Russell Wilson...But maybe it was Cousins...Buddy did say they liked Wilson a lot and that the height issue was not a deterrent for the Bills...Both Cousins and Wilson visited OBD...But could they seriously have been thinking Cousins would still be around in the 5th? I mean...The 5th is pretty late...
  10. Fair enough John... No question if I was sold on T. Wilson like I was on R. Wilson the hands issue would not be as big a deal...I lived in Charlotte NC for 20 years, I saw a TON of R. Wilson from his Freshman year...I always loved the kid...Then what he did in one year at Wisconsin was really amazing...To be honest I did not think too much about the whole Scouting process with R. Wilson because I was pretty convinced he was a special, special individual... Conversely, I've followed T. Wilson's career from 2010 on because I was so concerned with watching Ryan Mallet at Arkansas...Can you tell I've never been a Fitz guy?... While I've been impressed with T. Wilson at times, IMHO there is a MAJOR gap between him and Russell...So while I do still believe in my "hands" thing to a point, there is no question if I felt more comfortable with T. Wilson's game overall, the hands issue would easily melt away...And I agree that Wilson has shown the ability to hang on to the ball fairly well up to this point...But what I don't get from watching Tyler over these three years is the feeling that he's got any kind of x factor so-to-speak...I feel the same way about Nassib...I like these kids, but I'm not of the opinion that they are going to turn into Top 10 QB's in the NFL...Maybe Top 15...So...Anyway... Like I said this is just my opinion...What I see with my own two eyes and there is no question I've been wrong before...But in the same way I would never give Fitz the benefit of the doubt due to consistency, I'm going to have to see T. Wilson do it in the NFL and prove me wrong...And if he's the Bills guy there is no question I'll be pulling for him, and those small hands, to make me look foolish...
  11. Hey John... Well...It's rarely raining and 30 degrees during football season in the SEC...You can watch a ton of film on Tyler Wilson, it's not going to test his hand size much...Hand size is important with a QB...Maybe even more so than height IMHO...It directly effects the way the QB can spin the ball, and hold on to the ball, especially in bad weather... Russell Wilson was a really rare situation that Nix just blew...RW may have been small height-wise, but he has HUGE hands (10 1/4)...And his College resume was ultra-impressive...Watch the way Russell can spin that ball even in the rain...Hand size matters...Again, IMHO, Tyler Wilson is no where near the prospect Russell Wilson was...And Tyler Wilson's hands are REAL small...The average hand size of NFL QB's is 9 1/2"...Wilson's hands are an inch smaller than average...It will make a difference in his accuracy in in-climate weather...And it will be tougher for him to hold on to the ball when he's hit no matter what the weather is like... Sorry to disagree with those who think this hand-size thing is a joke...And I could end up being dead wrong about Tyler Wilson...But I simply think hand-size will be an issue when you play 10 out of 16 games in NY, NE, or NJ...I'll go on record right now and say I would pass on Tyler Wilson...And just to compare the two, I wanted Russell Wilson in the worst way...I especially would not Draft Tyler Wilson at #8 overall...No way...If the Bills Draft him I hope I'm wrong...And I don't hate Tyler Wilson...I just think he's not a great match for Buffalo...That's all... And finally yes, I like Manuel better due to his upside and athletic ability...Plus he's got size 10 1/8 hands...
  12. With Wilson, I just can't get past those 8.5 inch hands...It's the AFC East...I don't know...I think folks are looking past this and it is an issue...I'd rather take my chances with Manuel's athletic ability, arm, and upside...We'll see...
  13. That's the thing about Barkley...While I'm not a big fan of his, I do admit I was really impressed with his toughness this season...Just watch that Stanford game...He gets absolutely mangled...But he kept getting up...He's a tough minded kid...I'll give him that much for sure... I'm hoping for Manuel simply because I think he's got the most upside...Plus I'm assuming Geno will be gone...Overall the QB class does not thrill me...But I think Manuel could be really good if everything falls right for him...I'm also hoping the Bills take 2 QB's in this Draft...
  14. I like that plan a lot Pete!!! I've been thinking the same all along...Especially about getting another #1 in 2014 where there may be as many as 3 Top 10 QB's if things fall right (Manziel, Bridgewater, and McCarron)... I'd still take 2 QB's in this Draft to be safe regardless...
  15. Agreed...And I'm guessing Manuel will be a 1st Round Pick by the time it's all said and done...He's a QB with great raw tools...
  16. I would look to trade down in the 1st...Maybe twice...Get an extra 2nd Round Pick minimum...Take EJ Manuel with my 1st Pick...Then look to bring in a LB, CB, and WR...I would most definitely Draft another QB in the 4th or 5th Round...
  17. Whitner has a long history of over-evaluating himself...He's on a stacked team...There are plenty of other Strong Safeties who would see a major boost in their careers by simply going to San Fran...He hit the jackpot there...And good for him!!! I'm not saying Donte is terrible or anything like that...But I don't think he's anything near what he thinks he is as a player...Just my opinion...
  18. Agreed...Can't wait to see what Jordan's workout numbers are... It's going to be interesting to see if there is a sure Top 7-10 players in this Draft...It's starting to look like there might be....I'm hoping there is enough talent there at #8 to entice a team to Trade up and give the Bills a 2nd Round Pick...I feel a lot better about taking one of these QB's in the 1st if The Bills pick up an extra 2nd...It does look like there will be a couple REAL good Offensive Line prospects at #8 should a team in the mid-teens want to come up...
  19. Lets hope The Bills take that call!!! The Rams have 16, 22, and 46...I think something could be worked out...
  20. Scroll down to the Jan 17th Update here...http://www.gbnreport.com/breakingdownthedraft.html I just remembered reading this when I saw Mingo/Jordan mentioned in this thread... BTW...I think Jordan goes Top 7 by the time it's all said and done...
