  1. While I admire Harbaugh and this "diamond in the rough" story...On the other hand, a complete amateur could have tuned into NFL Network before the 2011 Draft and heard Charles Davis say repeatedly that in 2-3 years Kaepernick would be the best QB from that Draft...
  2. Buddy is literally the anti-analytics GM in that Buddy will throw out "facts" that are actually incorrect...But he says things in such an assured way that one might believe he's looked it up...Or at least assume he knows he's right...So he rarely gets called out for it... Example... Q: In a head coach, last time you had wanted someone who was a head coach before. Is that still the case? Buddy Nix: I think the percentages of being successful is higher in a guy that has done it, but we are not going to limit that. We are going to be open-minded. It might be a college guy. It might be a coordinator. We are going to try to just make sure we get the best guy. Well Buddy...Not so much...8 out of the 12 Playoff Head Coaches in 2012 did so with the teams that made them an NFL HC for the 1st time...3 of the last 4 SB winning Head Coaches were in their first stint as an NFL Head Coach...So... Buddy just says stuff...
  3. A-freaking-men!!! Exactly!!!
  4. Further proof that I'm a pretty irrational guy...Because I was never really on board with ANY plan that called for Ryan Fitzpatrick to be the short, or long-term answer at QB... Not to say I was totally against everything Buddy did...Mario Williams comes to mind as a move I was thrilled about... But Buddy and I got off on the wrong foot from the get-go (not that he cares)...Living in Charlotte NC I was a HUGE CJ Spiller fan, but I was not a fan of that pick for the Bills at the time...I just thought it was poor team building...Then he picks Troup in the 2nd which I thought was an unquestioned reach...Then he goes on to completely ignore the QB position in the next two Drafts...I'm not going to lie and say I was banging the drum for Dalton, Kaepernick, or Wilson...But one thing I know for certain as an avid NFL Network watcher, their drums were being banged like hell by a lot of folks...And I've always been a believer that the Bills should have been looking for Fitz's replacement from day #1...I have a close friend who lives in Seattle...When the Hawks picked Russell Wilson I told him, one thing you can never say about your Team is that they are not at least trying to address the QB position...I don't consider a 7th Rd Pick, a washed up Vince Young, and a desperation Tavaris Jackson move as really trying...Buddy let Bills fans down big time...And it's just me, but in no way am I willing to forgive him...Irrational as that me be...
  5. Now you're just piling on...
  6. I know he's a Sr...I said he skipped the Sr Bowl in my post... My point was Jr QB's don't get to play in the Sr Bowl...And if they have the ability, they test well, and their workouts are satisfactory, it does not hurt them at all...
  7. Why? There has never been a Jr QB that has played the Sr Bowl...They rely only on the Combine and Private workouts...And plenty of them have gone REAL high in the Draft...Skipping the Sr. Bowl will mean nothing if Smith impresses in his workouts...Nothing...
  8. Seriously? You call those weak efforts addressing the QB Position? How is it that plenty of people around here were well aware of the fact that Fitz would never be good enough, yet The Bills and Good ol' scout were blind to his obvious faults? The same basic faults he's had since day #1 in the NFL...You have to start there, because the weak-ass way The Bills went about addressing the QB position was mainly due to the fact that they greatly over-valued Fitz from the get-go...Sure the guy had some good games...But he was never going to be good enough...I just can't stress enough how important that evaluation was because to me, a complete amateur scout, it seemed ultra-apparent...Then they go two more Drafts without taking a single QB...Not one...They passed on not only Kaepernick, but Wilson, Dalton, Foles, Cousins, and so on... Thiggy, Levi, VY, and Tavaris Jackson??? That's addressing nothing...And to make matters worse these guys were brought into to compete with a QB that is bottom-half of the NFL...If that... Really?
  9. I think small hands on a QB, when you play your Home games in Buffalo NY, is a definite detriment...If that measurement is correct (8-5/8") Wilson's hands are WAY small...Keep in mind Russell Wilson has size 10.25 hands at 5-11...That's the reason he's able to spin it the way he does... I know it sounds crazy, but there's no way I would Draft Wilson to Buffalo with hands that small...No way...
  10. I just don't think the guy has what it takes upstairs to be any good in the NFL...He lacks drive and determination...I mean...If this news had come out and he was down to 250, I might be swayed a bit...But 308? seriously? Are we sure that's not a typo? That's ridiculous even for a guy like Russell who has a history of battling weight...308? And we're supposed to believe he's ready to come back and contribute? At 308?
  11. I'm pretty sure his positional ratings have not been updated in a while...He still has Jr's in there that are staying in school... His comment on Nassib is very current though...
  12. Smith always looks decent on the back of a Bills Jersey...
  13. I don't like Fitz... But I agree...He lost all credibility with that comment alone...There is no fixing Fitz...Gailey came as close to doing it as any Coach ever will...Ever...
  14. I think EJ will be over-drafted a bit due to his overall athletic ability as a QB...I doubt very much that he'll get out of the 2nd Round...We'll see...Like I wrote in another thread, the kid could be the ultimate tease...But there is no denying his raw ability...And it's almost amazing that you see so many reports talk about the inconsistency of a QB who completed 67% of his passes over a two year span...But inconsistency is definitely the word I see used most to describe Manuel's negatives...We'll see if an NFL team can coach that out of him...
  15. Agreed...I would like to invite the teams that Draft from 1-7 to please consider taking another QB ahead of Geno...Please, please, please... Thank you...
  16. Totally agree... I'd love to get Smith somehow...But if not I'm going to be OK with a lot of these kids, Nassib included...It's all about how The Bills utilize them and Coach them up... We need a QB...In fact, we need two...Period, end of story...
  17. I'm not sure that's true...We'll see...I've never thought Te'o was a top 10 prospect...Top 20? Maybe...1st Round? Probably...But IMHO not top 10...
  18. I would be fine with The Bills taking Te'o... In the 2nd Round... Otherwise...Not so much...
  19. Well...Lets ask Russ Brandon... "There is not a better evaluator of talent in my opinion when it comes to pure scouting than Buddy Nix. He has done it. He is a pure football man. He has played, he has coached and he has scouted. He knows football. He knows talent. He has sort of raised me in this business along with John (Butler). I have great admiration for Buddy. I believe in him 100-percent." So...there you go...
  20. IF (and I know it's a big if) it happened exactly the way Te'o explained to Jeremy Schaap...I'll say this much...This Tuiasosopo dude is a special kind of ass****...What kind of enormous POS thinks this is OK to pull on someone?
  21. I was wondering when I saw that name...
  22. Could not possibly agree more...
  23. So much about the success (or failure) of any QB coming in to the NFL depends on the situation they land in...I think Smith gives any Offensive Coach a skill set that could be turned into great things...But I also think he's not the type of QB, like Luck for example, that would be good no matter where he goes...It's going to take a good marriage for sure... I'll go out on a limb on 2 things...Lacey will be a 1st Round Pick...And Lacey will not be drafted by The Buffalo Bills...
