  1. Yeah, when you're the short stack you've pretty much got to move in when you have less than 7-9 times the blinds. Thankfully I sucked out twice and got my stack back (and then some).
  2. I've signed up as well. Username is Bulp (MDH was already taken).
  3. Yeah, I'm in. Though I went to the private tourny section and noticed that nobody has signed up yet...
  4. The problem with low stakes play isn't that you get one guy calling every bet, if that was the case you'd end up making loads of cash. The problem is that 4-5 guys at the table all do it. Beating one player who doesn't know what he's doing is easy but hoping that all 5 guys at the table don't suck out puts you on the short end of the odds. I call it Pot-Luck Poker and it's aggravating as hell.
  5. I just stumbled upon this thread, I'm game. I just signed up to Poker Room and didn't have any of the troubles some others have mention (I'm using IE 7). I did run into a hitch when trying to deposit cash though. It said the bank wasn't responding and to check my bank balance in 10 minutes to see if the transaction went through. Hopefully I'll get this fixed before tomorrow night.
  6. Tough enough? The guy had a weapon, how is that tough? And how is the lesson that there's always somebody out there tougher than you and you should be careful? The guy walked away from the confrontation and left the building. Sounds like the right move to me, it's not his fault the idiot followed him with a knife.
  7. In retrospect I'd love to see what Emmitt could do behind those Detroit lines. I don't even think he'd be mentioned as an all time great if he ran behind the lines that Barry did.
  8. How exactly does one measure how much better someone has gotten at football? Does the metric system cover that?
  9. So if an asteroid comes within 18k miles of the Earth and there's no one here to see it would is still be visible from some places on the planet?
  10. You Win! Not a bad way to spend an hour or so.
  11. Nope, if a person can't summorize what they have to say in a few short paragraphs (say, 10-12, non-run-on sentences max) I generally don't bother.
  12. Trying reading it one more time. I think on the third try you might be able to quote it correctly.
  13. Since that's not what Jaws said you might want to try again.
  14. Are you implying that when Flutie was here the Bills weren't undecided at QB? I think you probably meant since Kelly left.
  15. Peyton is one of the least sacked QBs in the league. He does a great job of sidestepping the rush and reading/reacting to the D to get the ball away quickly. When it comes to avoiding sacks Peyton is certainly "good enough".
  16. I'm not sure there's a team in the league that would take Marbury and his contract even if they didn't have to trade anything to the Knicks for him.
  17. Do you really think he should serve time for being convicted of the charges? The report said Sullivan was charged with a seatbelt violation, running the stop signs, playing loud music and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Unless the guy has a previous record there's no way he should serve any time for any of that.
  18. If by "lost" you mean "booted to the curb" then yes, we lost Gray.
  19. By "music videos" do you mean reality TV?
  20. Discounting last year (a year in which McNair played hurt most of the time) I'd go the opposite direction with McNair, I think he's one of the most underrated players of the past 10 years.
  21. Case in point, in the past 3 years (48 games) Bledsoe has put up the following turnover stats: 41 Fumbles (23 lost) 45 Ints He averages a fumble (.5 lost) and an INT per game. That means that for every game in which he doesn't turn the ball over he has one in which he alone coughs it up 3 times. Even with a QB that can make plays (which Bledsoe can) that equals a team that's going to hover around 8-8 at best. If anybody else on that teams has butter fingers that team is pretty much doomed. And these past few years have been only slightly worse than his previous years. For his career Bledsoe averages 1.4 turnovers a game. To put some perspective on this Bledsoe turned the ball over 25 times last year. That’s more than 11 teams had TOTAL on the year.
  22. No doubt in my mind it's sacks. QB rating will give you a pretty good indication of who is having a good year and who isn't at the QB position. Sacks aren't a good indicator of who is having a good year on the DL yet this is the stat that is used to send DEs to the Pro-Bowl. It doesn't take into account their ability to stop the run or how many times they get out of position trying to get to the QB. Also, QB pressures is a much more important stat than sacks as it gives you some indication of how consistently the player is getting to the QB. Too bad QB pressures isn't an official stat and teams pad those numbers for their stars.
  23. This is the time of year where every day we'll get new posts about how the national media is “dissing” the Bills. How the Bills aren't as bad as everybody says and how they'll shock the league this year. Cut to 6 months later as we wrap up another 5-11 type season and nobody is saying, "whoops, I was wrong and those national pundits were right." Granted, at some point they will be wrong (you have to figure the Bills can't lose forever) but until the Bills prove they can win I'm in agreement with most of the national media: The Bills stink at a lot of positions and WR is one of them. Having 5-6 solid #3 type WRs doesn't make the receiving corps solid.
  24. If everybody keeps giving the same answer I'm not sure Vick is actually "overrated", just over-hyped because he's a highlight reel. Ask anybody who follows the sport and they'll tell you that he's not a complete QB. My vote goes to Champ Baily. He's a good CB but he's not nearly the "lockdown" CB that many seem to think he is. As for all time I can't really comment about Namath as I wasn't around to see him play and can only go from word of mouth. The most overrated guy I've ever seen was Emmitt Smith. A solid downhill runner who benefited from the most dominating OL the league has ever seen.
  25. WTF (part 2)? Unless Green has a few miracle seasons with the Cards there's very little chance the guy makes the hall. Coaches that haven't even coached in a SB (in the SB era) generally aren't in the Hall. EDIT: Of the 13 coaches in the Hall that have coached predominately from 1960-present there are only two that didn't win a championship of some sort (AFL, NFL or SB): George Allen and Marv Levy. Both coached in the SB and had other credentials that ultimately got them in. The fact that there are only 13 coaches from this 46 year period leads me to believe that a coach has to do something special to be elected (unlike say, a QB). Probably only Belichick and Tuna are automatics though Cowher would likely get a nod as well. I’m not sure anyone else mentioned, at least at this point in their careers, would qualify. Shanahan has two SB titles but he’s quite a few lackluster years since Elway retired.
