  1. ESPN.com is down now. Back up now...at 9:45pm
  2. Whoa. Have to believe injuries have added up and no amount of money can compensate for physical health. Still, a lot to leave on the table for retirement.
  3. John Brown and Beasley are cemented as the X and slot receivers for this offense. Who plays the Z is very much in doubt this late in the pre-season and it's doubtful Zay is that guy after recent performances. If that is the case, no one on the roster right now strikes me as a suitable starter.
  4. What's dumb? The McCoach or clapanalytics reference? And are they triggering words?
  5. Hard to believe the scouting report on Zay was that he had elite hands, but now he's known for his drops. Maybe he doesn't like the physicality of the NFL where you're going to get hit making catches he made without much contact in college. Zay would be an easy cut if the Bills had some depth at WR beyond Brown and Beasley. The trend for Buffalo is making poor offensive personnel decisions as they've drafted only 1 offensive skill position in the 2017 and 2018 drafts (Allen).
  6. McCoach obviously embracing the analytical approach with his clapping rate. In mid-season form already.
  7. The board continues to trend toward the "Super-Fans" perspective on everything. Just waiting for someone to chime in like Todd O'Connor and declare that the Bills will break Pittsburgh's record of drafting four HOFers in 1974 with 5 from the 2019 class.
  8. Said the poster who used to contribute. Now reduced to repeating the same one-liner ad nauseam with zero effect.
  9. Some on this board were apoplectic when NYJ traded 3 second round picks to move up to 3. Yet, Buffalo effectively traded from 21 to 7 to pick Allen using Cordy Glenn to move to 12 and then 2 seconds to TB for 7. Both NYJ and Buffalo needed a lot of draft capital to make that move, yet at this point people have long forgotten the price. I say this because offense is the name of the game and, as you say, QB play is a majority of that. Which is why I don't understand all the resources Buffalo has used on their defense. The Jets understood, albeit with a HC who has a losing record, that offense is where it's at and you need a HC to be offense-first. McD has never embraced that and we're about to see if he's willing to change his spots.
  10. Perhaps it's been mentioned already in the thread, but an engagement ring is considered a gift and therefore not required to be returned even if the marriage does not happen.
  11. McD is 10-15 since that start in 2017 and over those games his team has been outscored by almost 200 points. Not to mention, 8 of those 15 losses were blowouts. PF / PA 2017: 151-244 (weeks 7 thru 17) 2018: 269-374 People also tend to forget that at the 2018 mid-season, Buffalo's offense was among the league's worst since rule changes to favor passing were implemented in 1978. Through 9 games they'd scored all of 96 points. In most cities, being .500 or within 1 win and missing the playoffs in year 3 gets you fired. Despite the track record, I doubt T/K Pegs would fire McD. They want to avoid the hiring process given the HC hires for both their teams.
  12. Pretty coordinated PR effort to talk up Murphy and I'm sure it has a lot to do with him being a McBeane guy whereas Shaq is not. The contract they handed him is something they've take heat for and now they're trying to highlight the player with him healthy. One wonders when they'll start in on Star Lotulelei.
  13. Without him, Seinfeld does not survive the early seasons. I vote Russ. His influence was all over the Bills from circa 2006 to the time he was fired last year. Not saying it was a good influence, but old Russ sure knew how to market the heck out of a team that wasn't trying to compete for many of those years. Still, he didn't have enough influence to fire Jauron after the disastrous finish to the 2008 season.
  14. I missed that part when listening this morning. If not IVF, then I stand corrected.
  15. The risks you run doing IVF. Gotta pray for the wife's health moving forward.
  16. The US Coast Guard would offer that, "Semper Paratus" fits there as well.
  17. Just now? It's a year pre-season tradition going back at least 10 years. You've got a group of fans telling people this season is going to be different and those who take the wait and see approach.
  18. Efail, that panty wedgie is really inhibiting your attempts at humor. I'd laugh but you're not funny.
  19. Pot meet kettle. Here you are starting a thread about Sullivan, yet allegedly have the guy on full-mute? Irony? Coincidence? I think not. You loathe the man and don't miss an opportunity to bash him. The guy is a lightning rod sometimes, but people here take it to extremes. It's almost like you're not satisfied he's still in media after leaving the BN. And then, as if on cue, you fall back and claim it was all a weak attempt at humor. Sorry, not buying it, because your reputation precedes itself. Some of you are so desperate to attack anyone who doesn't share your opinion it's hard to ignore. There is no semblance of debate, nor any attempt to do just that. It's just "I hate that guy for not being as big a fan as I am." As a result, I contend these attacks on those who espouse a perceived negative opinion is based on some closely connecting much if not all one's identity with this team. Despite it being entertainment, some fans cannot separate the two and the lashing out commences.
  20. Does this mean people can boycott Sal Capaccio's never-ending sunshine reports because he's a massive team homer? I don't understand how fans who cannot bear a contrary opinion will immediately resort to ripping Jerry and eschew the guy's opinion. Even I will listen to Sal whether I disagree with him or not. I can be a little more optimistic given that A) McBeane prioritized finding a top QB prospect and B) they seem to have a plan. Whether this is enough remains the question, whereas the path their predecessors chose was sure to fail.
  21. Also not surprising that both McD and Jauron chose to rebuild the secondary as their first order of business given their being DBs as players and then coaches.
  22. At this point, Buffalo could probably receive 8th round picks for both. In 2025.
  23. Take a top 5 QB from the starting roster and the skill positions look a whole lot different. Are you honestly comparing a LB, S, C, OT, and WR with someone like Andrew Luck or Cam Newton? That somehow those positions have the value one of those QBs has to their team? I know you're looking for any excuse to show that 2019 is surely different, but we don't know yet. It's okay to wait and see before declaring the team on the glide path to the playoffs. For the record, here's Buffalo's results from the last 5 pre-seasons: 2018 2-2 83 PF 88 PA (final season record 6-10) 2017 1-3 62 PF 67 PA (final record 9-7) 2016 1-3 55 PF 71 PA (final record 7-9) 2015 2-2 88 PF 71 PA (final record 8-8) 2014 1-4 63 PF 104 PA (final record 9-7)
  24. They had a major need at center, knew about Morse's concussion history, and still went forward with the contract. (Cue someone to say Beane didn't know he'd get another concussion). People here talk about Beane's management of the cap and how he maneuvered the team into a solid position after Whaley. Yet, he's the guy who signed players like Star to a bloated contract, gave a thrice concussed Morse a big contract, and traded for Benjamin who flamed out fast. He may not be as bad as Dugout Doug 2013-2016, but he's showing signs his command of personnel and dollars isn't as great as advertised. For McBeane's sake, they'd better be a 10 or more win team this year. Because not doing so is going to shine a bigger spotlight onto the whiffs in free agency.
  25. Nah, he'd get the starting gig the following season.
