  1. I've been saying that for years, and have been told by people (real world and on this board) that, "Nothing's ever happened to me, stop being so paranoid!" Kinda funny, really.

  3. Yeah, I'd recommend looking in the consumer forum.... http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=86424 http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=86814
  4. That's because I'm getting more and more swamped with work....
  5. Your problem is that you're not using Open Office.
  6. The brochure says that they generally only do it 15-20 times during the summer, and the times are usually between noon and 7pm. Since I'm at work from noon-5pm (or later), I didn't think it would effect me if I went ahead with it, so I'm glad to hear that you didn't notice it at all. I'm definitely tempted to try it out.
  7. You use it with your thermostat -- and I do the same thing when we're at work/sleeping/vacation, so the $6/month would be in addition to the savings I get from my thermostat. Still not sure I want to risk getting really hot though....
  8. This survey is bogus. Chicago is FAR more aggressive than Minneapolis/St. Paul. In fact, I don't think the Twin Cities are aggressive at all! Most of the time if you put your blinker on, other cars slow down for you to get in the lane! The survey makes no sense. Eating behind the wheel makes you an aggressive driver?
  9. Xcel Energy is offering us the ability to install a "Saver Switch" on our AC, which allows them to shutoff the AC for 15-20 minute periods and offers us a discount for signing up. http://www.xcelenergy.com/Residential/Prog...versSwitch.aspx http://coloradoenergynews.com/2009/06/xcel...-120-megawatts/ We'd get $6/month from June-September. Just wondering if there are any negative effects that anyone has noticed. I can't imagine I'd actually notice... And while $24 isn't a ton of money, if I can't tell the difference, might as well keep it in my pocket, no?
  10. Similar story. My first car was a 1999 Toyota Camry. My second car...still driving the first.
  11. So I take it that it's worth buying...?
  12. I'd agree that he's probably a bandwagon fan. That said, I've lived in Minnesota for 15 years and consider myself a Wild fan. I like the Sabres too, and I still root for the Sabres, but when they're not playing each other, I root for the Wild.
  13. I'd highly recommend getting a subscription to Angies List ( http://www.angieslist.com ). I had some issues with bad contractors when I was finishing my basement. I signed up to Angies List, and every contractor from then on was great. Cheap service, and very well worth it IMHO.
  14. Don't worry, I'm driving up to Niagara Falls to visit family today, so you can rest easy now. (this city is pretty awesome though!)
  15. I visited the Museum of Crime and Punishment in Washington DC today, and they had a whole section on prison made weapons.... Guess who I thought of? As for the original question -- the landlord has no right to share that number, but I don't know what recourse you'd have...
  16. Happy Birthday!
  17. I was going to say that too - he probably has FAS. That said, doesn't sound like he's a bad kid, and the parents are out of the picture, so I guess I don't see what the big deal is? I had friends who were 2-3 years older than me when I was growing up. I had friends who were 2-3 years younger too. I don't think it's a big deal. Judge the behaviors, not the age.
  18. 16-0, Superbowl victory. That's the best case scenario.
  19. If you go up to Niagara Falls, New York, you can get a room at the Super 8 on Niagara Falls Blvd for about $50-$75/night. It's a basic hotel, about 5 minutes from the Falls. Best of all -- right across the street from Buzzy's pizza! That's where my wife and I stay when we roll into town to visit family. There's some decent hotels right by the Falls as well. I've stayed at the Quality Inn Suites on the Falls and it was pretty nice -- about $130-$150/night though which is within your budget, but you're paying for the location more than the room. Can't help you if you want to stay in Buffalo though.

  21. Looks like you really need to read this book: http://tinyurl.com/qwttqm

  23. Did you go to the winter carnival and see the ice castle?
  24. Someone posted a picture in the comments section. It's not "revealing" in the least. There's really nothing to see.... http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/4337/1242493573483.jpg The bigger question is what happened to school dress codes? I'm not that old, but when I went to high school, we couldn't wear shorts (or skirts) that were above the knee. I know some girls who were sent home to change if their skirts were too short. Now it seems like they're all wearing very revealing clothes in these pictures. I'm not saying schools should have uniforms, but what's wrong with a basic dress code to avoid issues like this....? (oh, and why is she holding the cutout of someone's head....?) According to some comments, she's going to be on Oprah as well (or maybe just the mom?). If she would've kept her mouth shut, nothing would've happened. I'm leaning towards the people who say she did this on purpose for attention.
