  1. Have you tried disconnected the DirecTV receiver to see if your PC starts working? For DHCP, if you have Windows XP, you'd select Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Network Connections-->(your network connection - whatever it's called). Then highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)," click properties, and make sure "Obtain an IP address automatically" is selected.
  2. Here's what I'd do -- ditch wireless. It's not secure.
  3. Just saw Whitner on NFL Total Access. He said that he's going to be playing FS full time and will be able to use his range to make plays. Due to injuries, he's played pretty much every position in the backfield, but willl hopefully be able to focus on FS this season. When asked about TO, he said that Owens is very quiet in the locker room, but gives 110% on the practice field. He watches everything he eats - go out to a restaurant and he'll order an egg white sandwich on wheat which is unlike most players. TO also has a couple of workout books out there. They asked if TO had called Whitner for a 3am workout yet, and Donte replied that TO still doesn't have a home in Buffalo, but if TO called he probably wouldn't join (and had a grin on his face when saying that). Nothing earth shattering, but still nice to see.
  4. You actually trust McAfee....? Oh the irony!
  5. You seriously don't think the media would feast upon him saying, "No comment," or, "I don't want to discuss that?" They'd still slant it against him. Like I said, they already proved they'll do that with his comments at camp.
  6. If he said, "No comment," or, "I don't want to discuss that," the press would still write a negative article about it. Heck, one of the articles I read a couple of days ago when he was a camp for kids was critizing him for saying, "I'm not answering any personal questions right now," even though he saved question time for when the press was not around so the kids could ask about him. Flutie, on the other hand, used to blame everyone on the team for losses except himself.
  7. ""The idea was that the balloons would spread far and wide, so we did not place a limit on how many vouchers they could use for a single purchase," Kazmer said." http://www.reuters.com/article/oddlyEnough...oddlyEnoughNews
  8. Still undecided. I think the finalists right now are: Thor (humorous comparison) Loki (he looks a little mischevious) Diogi (pronounced Dee Oh Gee -- D O G. Doesn't roll off the tongue well though...) Buzzy (after the best pizza/wing place in Niagara Falls). I think we have to make up our mind before tomorrow, as that's his first vet visit...
  9. There was... That's why I said, "(any oldtimers remember this? )." I figured with all the posts of everyone else dying, I'd ressurect this one. My humor seems to have fallen flat as nobody got it. Oh well, it was funny to me
  10. http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75442 Oh my! (any oldtimers remember this? )
  11. I actually brought that one up as a suggestion yesterday. Right now I think we're leaning towards Buzzy - in honor of Buzzy's in Niagara Falls (that, and he "buzzes" around the house looking at everything). But still not completely sold on it yet. I like Einstein - but the wife doesn't seem sold on that one. I'll bring up some of these suggestions tonight and see what happens.
  12. My wife's been wanting a dog for a few years, but I've kept putting it off and putting it off. The main reason was that she was still getting her MBA and not getting home until late at night, and I didn't want to take care of a dog (already have a couple of cats). Today she stopped at the humane society and saw a dog that she fell in love with. As soon as I got home, she insisted that we go look at him. Well, how could I say no to either of them? So we adopted a 2 year old stray puppy. He's half Bichon Frise and half mutt, weighs about 22 pounds, and has apparently done some obedience training as he responds to "sit" and "drop." He's very well mannered (so far - he's only been home for 3 hours... ). Now to introduce him to the two cats... Anyway, here's his picture. Just wanted to share - and if anyone has a good name, fire away. http://www.fezam.com/puppy.jpg
  13. Hmmm, the two that I've been to have had fine sauce coverage. I do usually have to ask them to make sure they're crispy though -- otherwise they're sometimes rather mushy and not very good.
  14. I'll echo the glasses suggestion (no offense...). I still remember the first game I watched in HD -- I had it in SD on a second TV and the first thing I noticed was that I could see both the punter and the punt returner on the screen at the SAME TIME on the HDTV. Not so much on the SDTV. Seeing more of the field is a good thing. Add in the extra detail you get and it's a no brainer.
  15. Ahh, I'd probably remember that too!
  16. Have you ever even been to Buffalo and eaten wings at Duffs (or anywhere, for that matter. Buzzy's is awesome too )???? If you did, you'd understand....
  17. I know that if I spent $300 on something to drink that I'd remember it for the rest of my life... As a waste of $300. (sorry, couldn't resist -- many could say the same type of thing about my A/V and photography stuff. )
  18. I love Thai food. I actually know how to cook pretty good Pad Thai, Tom Yum, pineapple Thai fried rice, and spring rolls. It's quite a feat, since I really can't cook very well.... Pad Thai is generally the most popular Thai dish for people new to the cuisine. I've never had Gai Kra Pow -- I'll have to try it out. I don't know how large the Thai community is here. We have a pretty large Asian population in general though. There are quite a few really good Thai places in the city, as well as a few really good Vietnamese places. I just wish they'd move to the suburbs so I don't have to drive 30 miles each way to get to them Chinese food is crap (well, the Americanized version at least - don't know that I've ever had real Chinese food).
  19. How would they touch the sump pump... They don't shut power off to your whole house, just your condenser!
  20. Seriously? Name another wing chain that's worse... (I can't even name another wing chain, period...). Their wings aren't that big most of the time, but I don't think BW3 (their old name... when they used to sell Beef on Weck) is that bad. Granted I can throw a stone in WNY and hit a better wing place, but I haven't found a better place in Minnesota yet... (The Buffalo Tap is supposed to be good, but I don't think I want to drive 50 minutes each way....). That said, I still bring home 100-200 wings from Duff's whenever I'm in town -- vacuum seal them and store them for football season. Just did that last week!
  21. Well if they only shut it down for 15 minutes.... Is anyone really going to notice? What, the house is goinj to heat up 1 degree in that 15 minutes? That said, if I was really that confident, I would've done it already.... So.......
  22. Can't answer that question, as I don't live there. But that's how the list gets better -- by adding your own experiences. You never know when, for example, your AC or furnace is going to go out. It's nice to have peace of mind on who to contact... I checked to see if there was a referral discount, but it doesn't appear that there is.
  23. I'm a huge proponent of Angies List -- it's a yearly subscription but is pretty cheap (and they send you monthly magazines with interesting/useful information). It lets you search their database to get user reviews of various companies. When I was finishing my basement, I had some bad experiences with contractors not showing up for quotes, not showing up to do work, etc, etc. I finally bought a subscription to Angies List and from that moment on, every contractor I called for a quote or hired all did perfect work, never missed an appointment, etc -- HIGHLY recommend buying a subscription! http://www.angieslist.com
  24. Actually, the judge in the case said that the penalty was ridiculous as well. There's been a lot of chatter about changing copyright law in the country (including a study that was done showing that infringement does not stop the creation of content), and this will make it even more mainstream. http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2008/09/capit...rial-implores-c Plus, this judgement may not even be constitutional. You state that, "examples need to be made," but that's not legal either... http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2009/06/record-labels-awarde "Second, recent Supreme Court rulings suggest that a jury may not award statutory damages for the express or implicit purpose of deterring other infringers who are not parties in the case before the court. In other words, the award should be aimed at deterring this defendant, not giving the plaintiff a windfall in order to send a message to others who might be tempted to infringe."
