  1. Actually, I didn't think Firefly would get cancelled... And Dollhouse did get renewed.
  2. I never watched it because I figured it'd be cancelled right away. Previews looked good though.
  3. I thought it was pretty funny, actually. Not the best show in the world, but it made me laugh from time to time. That, and Selma Blair/Kim in HD was nice too....
  4. Looks like the system actually worked this time...! http://www.eff.org/press/archives/2009/05/22 http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2009/05/mass-...calixte-warrant
  5. You said: "But nobody is suggesting locking up every stray dog that runs the street." The laws in our country say that stray dogs are locked up. Duh. (and yes, I realize I'm feeding a stupid troll)
  6. Ummm, actually society does lock up every stray dog that they find running on the streets....
  7. I do. Extended warranties are a cash cow for all companies - why do you think they get pushed so hard? Almost 100% pure profit. They're obviously not cost effective for the customer, otherwise companies would stop offering them! They're in business to make money, and if they aren't making money, then they won't offer the service.
  8. When I bought my '99 Camry, I wasn't planning on getting the extended warranty. After saying no a ton of times, and the dealer constantly lowering the price, he eventually went down to $500 with no deductable to up the warranty to 100,000 miles. I thought it was a good deal... Turns out it was a waste of money, as my car never had a problem. But $3000 sounds extremely high.
  9. Only 7 years old.
  10. Well, I didn't electrocute myself! I took the outlet out and noticed that one of the wires was a little loose. Pushed it back into the switch, tightened it up, and it all seems to be working now. That was easy (except for the fear of death ).
  11. I like his Hustlin' routine.
  12. No, the GFI was sort of a cursory issue -- since I never noticed I didn't have GFI outlets in the bathroom before having this problem. I was just trying to figure out if the builder screwed up or not Based on the labeling on the circuit breaker, it looks like we have two circuits labeled as "bathroom" -- so I'm guessing one is for the lights/fans, one is for the outlets. I haven't confirmed that yet, but regardless, that doesn't seem to be the problem. Not yet -- I probably be able to mess with that until tomorrow night since I'm just going to run down to the store and get another switch. No mice that I know of. If we did, the two cats would probably go crazy. A field mouse snuck into the house when houses were being built across the street -- we found it dead on the kitchen floor after our cats got to it. Thanks for the help everyone - I'll be trying to fix it today or tomorrow, so if you don't hear from me anymore, it's because I electrocuted myself.
  13. I see Timmy, and Susie, and Jenny -- and I see YOU too!
  14. Good point! I should check if I actually did that or not.... (not that our sump pump has ever had to do anything in the 7 years we've lived here). We have romex wiring in the house. As for the GFCI -- I found that both upstairs bathrooms are connected to the same circuit as the first floor bathroom, and that one has a GFCI. Seems kinda lame to me, but at least it's code. One of my neighbors also said that in his experience, the builder used cheap switches and he's already had to replace a few of them in the house, so I'm leaning towards that being the problem.
  15. Keep working on that
  16. My friend's sister actually made it on Jeopardy 5 or so years back. She didn't win, but it's still cool that she was on the show.
  17. What does that have to do with computers......?
  18. I know that -- I even had to put them in my basement when I finished it, in case it flooded -- but I honestly do not see one in either of the bathrooms. My neighbor looked in her bathroom, and saw it right above the vanity. I'll wait for another neighbor to confirm (he has a corner unit like ours), but I wouldn't be surprised if the builder F'd up and the inspector missed it. If that's the case, would calling the inspector now actually fix anything? I doubt it...
  19. I don't think so... I found the one the whirlpool is plugged into, but it has its own circuit and doesn't affect the other outlets at all (I flipped it to test). We found out after the fact that the builder didn't have the best reputation - and cut a lot of corners. I'd be shocked if it got past the inspector though, so I don't know... The bulbs themselves are round globes - and there's 8 or 9 of them in the fixture. Not flourescent though.
  20. Miracle's saying that her character might be brought back. I hope so - I liked Mellie - but it'll probably be considered part of the "budget cuts."
  21. Never heard of the GFCI built into the breaker -- but I definitely don't have those. I sent an email to a couple of my neighbors to see if they have GFCI outlets in their bathrooms (we live in a townhome community, so the houses are similar). The fixture is separate from the exhaust fan - two separate swiches, two separate devices. We've wanted to replace the fixtures in the bathroom for awhile, so hopefully that's all it is.
  22. You know, that's one of the first things I thought to try -- but I don't see any GFCI outlets in the bathroom -- just regular ones... I went into the second bathroom on the first floor, thinking they may be wired in parallel, and don't see one there either. I'll have to look around and see if I can find one anywhere on the second floor; I can't imagine the city inspector would've approved it without them since the place is only 7 years old. I don't think that's the problem either (all of the outlets in the bathroom work fine, as does the fan), but it has me a little bit worried. We have GFCI outlets in the kitchen, so I'm sure it has to be somewhere....
  23. The fixture is 7 years old -- came with the house when we had it built. No manual or anything, and we wouldn't be opposed to replacing it with something nicer if we have to. I didn't realize that fixtures actually had fuses... I won't have time to play around with it today (cleaning up before my in-laws show up tomorrow), but hopefully will have time tomorrow or Monday. If anyone has any other advice, I'm all ears!
  24. No, i'ts a simple on-off switch at the entrance to the bathroom.
  25. Tough to argue that one... But from a TV show perspective, Dollhouse > Terminator
