  1. John Petrucci - Dream Theater I say underrated only because most haven't heard of him.
  2. Thanks! I apparently misjudged the size of them -- after looking closer, they're really only between 1/4" and 1/2". I guess I thought that they seemed bigger than that, but no... I'll try to take a better picture -- it's really not easy to do since they stick to the ceiling and when they're on the walls, they don't generally let me get that close to them before running away. But I'll try again. If that's what they are, it looks like it's going to be tough to get rid of them all -- have to wash or dryclean all of our clothes. I'll definitely take a closer look in the closet -- I've seen many of them in there, and it would make sense that they breed in there, then come out into the bathroom for water. We don't have much wool though, so I'm not sure what they'd be feeding on. CW
  3. Yeah, I don't think that's what these are -- since they definitely fly. In addition, they're not afraid of light. They also don't look anything like some of the pictures I've seen of them: Mine look nothing like these: http://www.entm.purdue.edu/entomology/urba...German_male.jpg http://www.goldcitypestservices.com/german_cockroach.jpg
  4. Here's a couple of better pics. The first one is the bug standing still, the second one is while he's running on the wall - same bug. http://www.fezam.com/bug1.jpg http://www.fezam.com/bug2.jpg

  6. That was the first thing I thought of -- but it doesn't look like any of the termite pictures I've seen online so I don't think that's what it is.
  7. Maybe that'd be funny if my name was TraceyLee. But it's not. Looks similar, but I don't think the ones in my house have two colors. I'll have to check closer. I did get a better picture of one this morning, so I'll upload it when I get home.
  8. I should've known better than to ask a serious question. See if I help either of you two in the future
  9. The next time I see one, I'll try to take a better picture -- they're tough to photograph, since they usually hide in the corners like I said. Don't see any around the house right now, but will keep my eyes open - at least a couple will be back in the morning, I'm sure...
  10. Hey all -- This spring, we've started to notice some flying insects in the house. They don't seem to be bothering anyone, but they're getting annoying. At first, there were only a couple every few days, but now we're seeing a few a day. They generally seem to like hiding in the corner of the wall and ceiling. They fly around rather clumsily, having to land frequently. They mainly seem to be flying around our second floor where the bathroom/bedrooms are, but we've seem a few of them on the first floor as well. We live in the Twin Cities, so insects are generally "sleeping" during the winter, and these guys must've woken up and decided they like flying around our house... I was able to take a picture of one of the buggers; although it's not a very good shot, it should help in identification. They're pretty small - generally an inch or less. http://www.fezam.com/bug.jpg
  11. Keep up the good work, Rock!
  12. Happy Bday!
  13. http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2009/04/bosto...-are-suspicious * A BOSTON COLLEGE STUDENT'S COMPUTER, CELL PHONE, AND OTHER PROPERTY WERE SEIZED as part of an investigation into who sent an e-mail to a school mailing list identifying another student as gay. Not only is there no indication that any crime was committed, the support for the search warrant is at times laughable. Some of the supposedly suspicious activities listed include: the student being seen with "unknown laptop computers," which he "says" he was fixing for other students; the student uses multiple names to log on to his computer; and the student uses two different operating systems, including one that is not the "regular B.C. operating system" but instead has "a black screen with white font which he uses prompt commands on." Gotta say, this is why I donate money to EFF every year, so that they can fight crap like this. Apparently UNIX is a scary operating system to morons who don't know anything about technology. And (like they say), since when is identifying someone as gay a crime.....?
  14. You complain about my post being over the top, yet you pick and choose what you read from mine? "Nothing like that ever happened at my school - but I'm sure it does happen. Banning might be a bit extreme, but you're being naive if you don't think it can be used as a way to bully and if you think it's all about self esteem."
  15. Read the post above yours -- targetting the weak kids and trying to take them out. Now tell me how trying to nail the kid in the head to knock him out is different than throwing a punch and trying to knock him out?
  16. Well then let's allow fights on school property -- that'll teach them to stand up for themselves too, right? Hell, let's have sanctioned Fight Clubs at school! Lord of the Flies!
  17. The OP said it's a santioned form of bullying -- nothing about self esteem -- and I can see how that could happen. In baseball,l you pitch to the kid, he swings, misses, done. But in dodgeball, you can easily target one specific person and the whole goal is try to whip the ball as hard as you can at him. Get several people on your team targeting one specific person, and it's bullying. Nothing like that ever happened at my school - but I'm sure it does happen. Banning might be a bit extreme, but you're being naive if you don't think it can be used as a way to bully and if you think it's all about self esteem.
  18. Time Warner is backing down (for now) due to public reaction: http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/04/16/publi...on-based-inter/
  19. The books suck, according to my wife. She read them all in 3-4 days, and she doesn't understand WHY she's reading them when she doesn't care for any of the characters. She was debating about whether she should even read the latest one, but did it for completeness.
  20. The original Grudge (Ju-On) is 10x better than the remake. I've heard that the original Ring (Ringu) is better as well, but haven't seen it yet.
  21. I'm waiting for someone to say, "If we just blow up Somalia, then the problem goes away?" Very good post though, thanks Nick!
  22. Yeah, I can relate! This started off as, "Let's just put up a tile backsplash." Then, "Hey, let's add more cabinets in this other area." Then, "Hey, a granite/quartz countertop would be nice, so let's do that!" Then, "Oooh, fancy sink and faucet!"
  23. How do you know who's a pirate and who's not? It's not like the pirates have the jolly roger raised on their ships (or do they? )
