  1. My wife runs a drug and alcohol treatment center. I'd recommend looking into that. If your problem is severe, you'll probably want to consider an in-patient treatment where you live there for 30-60 days, attending groups and one-on-ones with councelors. AA is a tool, but from everything I've heard her say, it's unlikely that you'll be able to stay sober by nothing other than attending them. What state do you live in? I can ask her if she has any resources she can recommend.
  2. I work for the phone company*, so yes you can. I work for a radio station*, so yes you can. I work for the cable company* in the TV department, so yes you can. I work for the satellite company*, so yes you can. I work for Old Country Buffet*, so yes you can. * not really, but it illustrates a point.
  3. Your wireless router won't tell you how much is being used (not that I've ever seen anyway). You'll be able to see how many machines are connected to it though -- so if you see some machines that you don't recognize... Try asking Comcast for a tool that lets you identify where the bandwidth use is coming from as you don't believe it's true. I would assume that they should have to be able to prove what you're using and where it's coming from. I could be wrong though...
  4. Ok, that makes more sense - a PPV, NFL stuff, as well as a ton of movie channels. I'm not sure what "HD Extra" is though, do you?
  5. What the heck do you have that you're paying $187 on a REGULAR bill?!?!?!? Or is that with Sunday ticket and such?
  6. I know. But if the hosting company screws up all the time, sometimes you need to take matters into your own hands.
  7. You could write a small cron job that checks, and if it's not up, starts it up. Yeah, it's a kludge, but it'd work...
  8. Nero's becoming very sluglike itself....
  9. Doesn't sound like you were talking with the customer retention folks. You can get there by just saying "cancel sunday ticket" to the automated prompt. Just asking for a manager gets you nowhere. I've been a customer since '99, and they've always given me perks. Like I said earlier in this thread, I asked if they could give me a deal, he asked what I wanted, I told him free Superfan and $20 off/6 months, and he said, "I can do that for you." A friend of mine (who has only been a customer for 6-8 months) did the same thing - no problem. We never had to say we were going to cancel either (other than to the automated phone prompt in order to get to retention). It worked for getting your HD TiVo, and it'll work for this too CW
  10. All -- I'm relatively new to fantasy football. I've done a bunch of "fun" leagues with friends, but this year I'm joining a keeper league with some friends for real money instead of just bragging rights. I don't have all of the details yet, but the initial "draft" will be an auction. What sites do people recommend for thoughts/opinions on players? A couple that I've heard good things about are: http://www.4for4.com http://www.fantasyguru.com I only want to buy info from one site -- so what do other people recommend? CW
  11. He has the Sony DSC-H1: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Cybershot-Digit...0998&sr=8-1 His pictures were taken in the afternoon. It's a lot easier to photograph in the afternoon than it is at night -- at night, you'd need a very fast lens in order to get good shots.
  12. Ended up not eating corn tonight afterall --- so the lemon/pepper experiment will be waiting until Wednesday.
  13. Just got an email from Ashampoo -- and they're saying you can "name your own price" for their software. Not sure how low you can go, but if you want one of the newer versions of their software, it might be worth trying: http://www2.ashampoo.com/webcache/html/1/muao_2_0_USD.htm
  14. I wasn't telling YOU how to eat the corn. Just saying how *I* like to eat the corn. Turns out we're having corn on the cob tonight, so I'm going to try that lemon and chilli powder thing though!
  15. Now THAT sounds really good... I might try that next time!
  16. I don't put anything on the corn -- if it's good corn, it doesn't need salt or butter.
  17. Good question - I just looked into this a couple of weeks ago. I rebuilt my PC, and couldn't find my Nero license. I've been getting annoyed with Nero lately because their software is overly bloated, and they force upgrades by not supporting new burners. I bought version 5 years ago, but when I had to buy a new DVD-R drive because mine died, the burner wasn't supported unless I upgraded to Nero 6. Ridiculous. So after searching around, I found a great free tool from a company called Ashampoo. It's called Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 FREE. Seems to work well -- I've burned a couple of data disks, a couple of ISOs, and a couple of audio disks so far. Haven't tried FLAC, but it would probably work. They're a German company, just like Ahead (makers of Nero) -- why do German copmanies make the best burning software...? http://www.ashampoo.com http://download.cnet.com/Ashampoo-Burning-...4-10776287.html
  18. It's their last memory of the vacation, and the human brain remembers/emphasized the most recent stuff first. So yeah, some moron at TSA stealing your kids' stuff could ruin the overall opinion of the vacation. The people who aren't outraged at this are the ones who are empowering TSA to continue overstepping their bounds.
  19. Rolling your eyes at me, when you're the one who isn't recycling threads? You're the cause of global warming!!! Plus, your topic description was vague as well!

  21. You were correct: http://www.thestar.com/comment/columnists/article/674841
  22. Just a note -- people who are signed up on their website get first crack at the tickets. So if you don't sign up, you won't get as good tickets (or possibly none at all -- a couple of years ago, the shows sold out before they went on sale to the public). Just a warning if you really want to go.
  23. I've been a TSO (Trans-Siberian Orchestra) fan since the first album -- long before they started touring. I've seen their Xmas show several times and it never fails to disappoint. If they're coming through your neck of the woods, I highly recommend going to check them out! I know there's a lot of fans on this board, so figured I'd post the schedule for everyone - tickets aren't on sale yet though. I You need to login to see it: http://trans-siberianexpress.com/tickets/ I tried pasting the schedule here, but that didn't work so well...
  24. Just make an email address for the purposes of buying the car and throw it away when you're done. I never gave them my phone number because I didn't want to talk to them until I was ready to do it on my own terms.
  25. Skip the dealer BS -- go to a site like Edmunds.com, enter in what you want, and let all of the local dealers email you their best quote. That's how I've purchased two cars and it's worked great.
