  1. With a 99.9% SLA? With enterprise-class hardware and software? No you couldn't.
  2. There's more to it than that. I took my wife to MT a couple of years ago, and she loved it -- now we have to stop there at least once when we're visiting family.

  4. Yes, it might be a bit overpriced... But people screaming that they could run the site for $1.99 and a stick of chewing gum are way off base as well. It's like the people in companies who say, "I need more disk space! Why does it cost so much here when I can go to Best Buy and get a drive for $100!" There's a LOT more to it, and the list of technical requirements bears that out. 24x7 support (meaning 24x7 support contracts, which are NOT cheap), an IDS system, backup systems, load balancers, security scanning, monitoring, SAN, redundancy, etc, etc. It all does add up. And the company needs to make a profit as well -- you want them to do all this work and take on this risk for a $50/year profit? Not likely. Be upset about the redactions, but the cost isn't completely out of the ballpark for a project like this... Well, at least from what I can tell through all of the black pages.
  5. If you have Sunday Ticket, I suggest tuning to channel 212... That's NFL Network. It's different than Sunday Ticket...
  6. I think you're overestimating them.... I mentioned this idea to the commissioner and co-commish, and the idea had never crossed their minds. I should've kept my mouth shut...
  7. Yeah, I know that -- but isn't it a bit odd to have an auction to start the league, and then a straight draft in the second year (with the ability to keep 3-4 of your auction-gotten players)? Like I said, seems like it'd be easy to cheat the system... Or am I overlooking something?
  8. Ok, I'm getting into a new league with some friends. It's going to be a keeper league (able to keep 3-4 players), the first year will be an auction -- but it looks like future years will be regular drafts. I've been saying that I think all years should be auction years, and that keeping players should count against the salary cap, but it's sounding like that probably won't happen. So my thought was to try and buy 2-4 of the top rated players, fill the rest of my roster with scrubs this year, keep those 3 guys for next year and have a very good roster next year. Could be risky if someone had a career ending injury or something this season, but I could potentially get 3 top players for the next few seasons if I did it. Anyone else ever had a league setup this way? Seems goofy to me, and kinda like I'm cheating the system...
  9. The show started out well, but then it became a complete and utter train wreck when the writers (literally) started making things up on the fly. It went downhill fast.
  10. I just got an email from Ticketmaster. Sounds like I'll get everything back except for the $3.87 processing fee. Could've been worse I suppose.
  11. I checked the Ticketmaster website, and it sounds like I should get all of the "convenience" fees back - the only thing I probably won't get is the order processing fee... So they make a nice cool $4 off of everyone.
  12. That's what I'm afraid of....
  13. Including all of the Ticketmaster fees? Did you have to do anything, or did they contact you and just issue the refund automatically?
  14. My wife's a big Aerosmith fan and we've had tickets for the September 8th show in St. Paul for months. Then Tyler has to fall off the stage and break his shoulder... Anyone ever had to get a refund from a cancelled show before? Why do I have a feeling that Ticket Master is going to screw me over? Especially since we not only bought tickets, but also tickets for the nice restaurant at the Xcel Energy Center, and prepaid parking...
  15. Happy Birthday!!!! When are you switching to DirecTV?
  16. I wouldn't read anything into it -- it's very common for companies to have open positions, and then have those positions yanked and need to be rejustified. It could be something like that is happening here too.
  17. Maybe that was part of the interview, to see how you handled the situation? Probably not, but I wouldn't be completely surprised. They could be checking to see how long it took you to call them, how you reacted when they said they were running late, and how you acted overall in the interview after being ignored. Could be.
  18. Microsoft Bob was worse... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_bob
  19. I haven't had most of those issues... And the ones I have experienced are so infrequently that I don't really consider it a problem that I'm willing to pay $500+ to fix...
  20. I agree 100%.
  21. I can say the same thing about people with PCs... I've never had a major problem that wasn't related to a hardware failure (like a dead harddrive).

  23. I would've called the cops. Then the parents would have HAD to get involved. I don't understand why the parents wouldn't want to help him out ahead of time -- although I wouldn't be surprised if he just "pretended" to talk to his parents, and it was really just some friends or whatever. You really think this was the first time he was stealing? Doubtful. Then again, I'm a very "by the book" kinda guy. CW EDIT: I also hope you didn't let him keep his $8 worth of stolen merchandise.
  24. Yeah, he looked really slow on one of the first plays of the game where he rushed the passer, then turned around and ran to make a tackle 10 yards downfield. Real slow.
  25. You mean people like you? Or people like Mr. Laptop?
