  1. I suspect Beane still has something up his sleeve.
  2. Yeah, I was more of an 8track guy. Moved to cassettes later on.
  3. This sounds like a travel ban which is racist and xenophobic.
  4. Hitler had a dog. Trump does not.
  5. I thank my lucky stars we didn't have this stuff when my kids were in school.
  6. Republicans will win more elections next year. The party that wins the White House always loses seats in the mid terms. I think it has only not happened once in the last 80 years. Even Obama lost seats.
  7. Whatever Trump did, it is now OK for Biden to do the same.
  8. Uncle Joe up to his old tricks. Yeah well, war is good for the economy. Put everyone back to work building bombs standing 6 feet apart.
  9. Cool thread. If I had to pick one book as my favorite it would be All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren. Someone mentioned Dickens. I really like his stuff. My favorite would be David Copperfield. Although Great Expectations is also excellent. My brother turned me on to a guy a few years ago no one has mentioned, Ian McEwen. Have read Nutshell, The Atonement, The Innocent, and am now reading Amsterdam. All are excellent. I also really like Kurt Vonnegut. My favorite being Player Piano. I'm not super big on King. I did read The Institute recently and thought it was excellent. Have also read The Green Mile, Buick 66, Carrie, and The Stand. I also like Ray Bradbury a lot. Dandelion Wine and Fahrenheit 411 especially. I really like 1984 as well. Really the part up until he gets captured. I read real books exclusively. No electronic readers for me.
  10. You make some excellent points. But again the FBI did an exhaustive investigation with many eye witnesses and ballistics and forensics. I have no idea why Brown did anything he did. Why walk in the middle of the street when you know the cops are looking for you cuz the store owner says he wad calling the cops? But since I wasn't there I'm gonna go with the FBI report. I only brought up Obama and Eric Holder cuz these weren't some cracker red necks trying to throw a black dude under the bus. They ran an objective and thorough investigation IMHO.
  11. You're gonna have to take that up with the Obama/Biden administration and the Eric Holder justice Department. They did a full investigation using forensics, ballistics (you know, science) and eyewitness interviews. They found the "hands up, don't shoot" story to be BS and found insufficient evidence to file charges. You can read it here: https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/opa/press-releases/attachments/2015/03/04/doj_report_on_shooting_of_michael_brown_1.pdf
  12. I did a quick search but didn't find a quote of President Biden using the word murder. However I did find one from Vice President Harris and Senator Warren. You may not think this as bad as Republican lies, but I would say lying to stoke racial tensions in the times we live in is aggregious. Unless they didn't know, in which case they are incompetent nitwits.
  13. That seems to more true about both parties. I mean President Biden still says Michael Brown was murdered by the police even though his own Eric Holder Justice department investigated and said it was a justified shooting. Even if what you say is true it just means D's suck less. You good with that?
  14. Too true. A Democrat could not run for President for 8 years and only 3 people wanted to run? Hillary, Bernie, and fall guy Martin O'Malley. It was a throw the bums out year and they ran THE MOST establishment person with gobs and gobs of baggage. And then as the released emails showed, Wasserman and her crew ran a crooked primary and screwed Bernie to make sure Hillary won. For this reason I believe Democrats should step up and shoulder some of the blame for Trump winning. Maybe 25% or so.
  15. It does seem like the goal posts continue to move further and further back. First it was flatten the curve. Then crush the curve. Then not until we get 70% vaccinated. Then Fauci says 85% or 90% or 95%. Then it was variants. Vaccine seems to handle variants. Now Fauci says the risk has to be so low (never says how low is so low). And now we can't cuz we don't know how long immunity lasts. You're probably right on the next move. We must vaccinate kids first. Good luck enforcing this. Once 70% are vaccinated and vaccines are available to everyone who wants it, let's par tay. If you choose not to get one, good luck to you.
  16. You're right of course, but do you think people in congress can do a better job?
  17. This is why we should just let the FBI do the investigation. They are professional investigators. Congress people are professional posturers who have no interest in the truth. They just need to find something they can sell in the next election.
  18. OK, but Fauci says we don't know how long the immunity will last, so we better stay masked up after 70% + get vaccinated.
  19. I support uniforms. I wore uniforms to school for grammar and high schools. As far as cliques go though, kids figure out different ways to wear them to separate their clique from the others.
  20. DC Tom, is that you?
  21. Are you sure about that? https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/five-times-united-states-officially-apologized-180959254/
  22. I don't know about that. The Abolitionists were almost all white. A white man signed the Emancipation Proclamation. 360,000 Union Army mostly white men were killed in the Civil War, a war fougHt primarily to end slavery. The Civil Rights law of 1964 was passed by a wide margin by an all white congress. Jim Crow was deemed uncostitutional by an almost all white Supreme Court. The 13th ammendment was passed by white people. Affirmative Action laws were put in place by primarily white people. A ton of white people voted for a black man for president in back to back landslides. A lot has been done. A lot more needs to be done. Your statement above which I quoted is awfully broad. Do you have any proof that a majority of white Americans do not wish. to repair the damage inflicted upon black people? Reparations is not the only way to do this and probably not the most effective either.
  23. I'm not so sure about this. Kids need to first learn how to read, add, subtract, multiply, objectively reason etc first. Technology is ever changing. You can teach kids how to use technology that we have today and by the time they get in the work force it will be obsolete. I am a professional web programmer. When I was in grammar school and high school we didn't have computers. When I was in college we learned COBOL programmed on punch cards. What has enabled me to progress in my career is my reading comprehension, math and reasoning skills, and ability to learn new things. All of which I learned in school without computers. Not some technology I learned in school.
  24. Not trying to excuse Pooty Poot, but do you honestly think we don't participate in nefarious activities with other countries? Wasn't that long ago we got caught hacking Angela Merkel's cell phone. And her country is our ally.
