  1. How was it a fluke? It was a combination great play by Cheats** guy and one of our guys not blocking him (#42 whoever that is). Kicking Teams is a very important part of the game where execution is as critical as any other play. Marv understood the importance of kicking team's play. Seems McDermott does not. A HUGE area for improvement in 2020.
  2. Yet our coach says competition makes us stronger. If Josh crumbles because Marcus Marriotta is on the team, he's not THE GUY anyway. I actually thinking bringing someone in to push Josh is not a bad idea. Goes for any position. Not to mention the fact that if we get on a run and Josh gets hurt, we still want to have to chance to win. Think Nick Foles or Jeff Hostettler or Earl Moral or Doug Williams..
  3. The Senator's favorite guy, Mike Leech, signs an extension with Washington State and one month later takes the job at Mississippi State.
  4. First off, never believe anything Beane says. He's posturing always. He tells the truth as often as a politician.
  5. Mike Evans would have been the one person we need to catch that pass in the EZ to Duke or the jump ball to the FB and bingo, we win! Mike Evans is EXACTLY the kind of guy we need to help Josh be all he can be. 24th in yards and 23rd in points. 49ers are only in the third year their rebuild too.
  6. This is all well and good. Great comebacks vs the Jets, Dolphins, and Titans (2-4). But against good teams later in the year the comebacks dried up. He had a chance vs Clevelend, NE twice, Baltimore, and of course the Texans. Zippo. 2 things. Need to do better earlier in the game so late game heroics are NOT needed. Need to do better in comeback situations vs better teams in the big games. Even the great comeback guys only do it 60% of the time or so. Matt Stafford has a lot of comebacks too. Hopefully a more talented O can help fix these things.
  7. It's called contingency planning. I'm thinking Beane does this too. Or at least I hope he does.
  8. Or, if you hang onto your QB that you drafted high too long thinking he just about to hit it, you end up like the Dolphins with Ryan Tannehill or the Bucs with Crab Legs. If next year Josh doesn't make big strides you have to consider cutting bait. Don't go down with the ship. Otherwise you may end up not in QB purgatory, but QB limbo instead. Neither works.
  9. I have no idea what Josh will or will not do in the future for the Buffalo Bills. He has shows us some really good and some really bad. For that reason, we should try to upgrade out backup QB position THIS YEAR. We have built up a good team and D. Would be a shame for Josh to go down and then us have to waste another season because we don't have a decent backup. Would also be good to have someone to push Josh a little. If he can't handle that, he ain't the guy. Competition makes us stronger, right? Where have I hear that before? "QB is the most important position. Backup QB is the second most important." -- Joe Gibbs Joe had a decent backup (Doug Williams) Then there's also the Nick Foles/Jeff Hosstettler/Earl Moral situation where you have a good season going and the starter gets hurt but since you have good backup you can roll on. This is nothing to do with if Josh is THE GUY or not, just being prepared. With the way Josh plays, he's one Jadeveon Clowney hit away from IR. We should be prepared. No sense putting all your eggs in one basket.
  10. The Cheats*** gotta move Tommy out and clear the space. They're gonna need it when they move Bridgewater in in a couple of months.
  11. Offense hasn't. McDermott/Beane inherited the 10th highest scoring offense. This year we were 24th. You may like Josh better, but the offense is worse. Way worse. Has been all of the last 3 years.
  12. It is kindof. I call him that sometimes because of how the NASCAR drivers called Jeff Gordon "Wonder Boy" with thick redneck accents when he first started cuz of all the hype and high expectations when he just started. I feel the same with the way Josh is talked about here. He has done some nice things but has come nowhere near proving he is THE GUY that can even get us a playoff win even. If he does turn into that guy, it will still fit. I am pulling for him to succeed cuz he's the Bills starter. I remain unconvinced however at this point in time. Getting us to the playoffs is a good start. He is still a HUGE question mark IMHO. And the way Beane is slowly stocking up the offensive talent running an ill suited Offense is not helping.
  13. Do you think it's prudent to trade up to draft a project QB in round 1 and then not supply him with quality WRs to throw to (again Brown and Bealey OK but not great)? Atlanta traded up to get Julio Jones and they have Matt Ryan. Then with Jones they took Ridley in the first. The same year the Bengals drafted Dalton they also drafted AJ Green. If we wanna be a team with a great QB and fancy pass offense, we need to massively upgrade at the position IMHO.
  14. Next year will be his 4th season as GM. Yes he missed the first draft but was the architect of the roster dump we had which he hasn't replaced yet in regards to players of Woods/Watkins/Dareus caliber. So it's on him regardless IMHO. You don't get a pass for the whole season just because you weren't there for the draft. And he's the one who said it was only year 4 of the rebuild.
  15. This is a concern I have with McDermott and Beane. Only year 4 or rebuild? I would like to see a sense of urgency. San Fransisco will be in year 4 of their rebuild next year too. Amd with Rams. Yes they went down this year, but have way more talent wise than us and have more to show for it with a SB trip last year. Guys are gonna start leaving with perhaps the Tredavian Nightmare after next season and Josh Allen the following year or the next. Our D Line needs re tooling now with 3 guys up for FA. NFL teams are a revolving door. You don't get 5 or 6 years to build up your team for a run anymore. Worked in the 70s before FA but no more. Getting to the playoffs 2 out of last 3 years has been awesome, but we don't want to become the Cincinnati Bengals.
  16. I've been saying this for going on 3 years. When we traded back into the first round after drafting Josh, I KNEW it was for Calvin Ridley to give Josh someone good to throw to. Instead we draft Ray-Ray in the 5th. Last year I KNEW we'd go after some top notch WRs and draft Metcalf or somebody. Instead we pick up Brown and Beasley (not bad, but not dominant either, especially Beasley who drops too many) and don't draft ANY WRs. So now going into Wonder Boy's THIRD season we're going to get serious about WR talent? I certainly hope so. We'll see ...
  17. I remember this time last year comparisons to the Bears were seen as favorable. I know many are down on Mitchell, but he did throw for more yards at a much high completion percentage this year than did our boy. Very comparable in TD/Int. If the team struggles next year due to a harder schedule or whatever and Josh doesn't carry us, he's the new whipping boy. Just the way it works.
  18. I kindof got the opposite impression. When I watched Houston, KC, Green Bay, even Seattle rack up the points I'm thinking unless our D totally shuts them down we'd get blowed out cuz we can't score points. Until that changes, we can only imagine competing with the likes of KC, Houston, Seattle, or Tennessee. Look at the skill position players the teams like KC and Houston and have. Brown would be at best 3rd or 4th on either of these teams and our best TE whoever that is Kroft or Knox would be 3rd or 4th if even on the team. This has to change this off season. When I see the kind of offensive player acquisitions we have gotten over the last 3 off seasons and hear Beane and McDermott saying they don't want to bring in high prices FAs and build through the draft makes me wonder if we will do what we need to do get this to a championship caliber offense. Teams with talent like KC and Houston is who we are competing against if we want to take that next step..
  19. LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP
  20. Was Pettine a finalist this point? I'm not worried. Once McDaniels leaves them at the altar and a few others bow out they'll have to take who they can get, ie Daboll.
  21. This is such a bassackwards approach. IMHO. And we are seeing the results. Bottom 1/3 of the league offenses 2 years running in the Daboll era. It's nice they each other. Too bad their offense stinks.
  22. I don't know I like band wagon fans. Means you're good. After 17 years of no band wagon fans, I welcome them.
