Been saying this since day 1 need to redshirt Josh Allen this year as there are too many unknowns on offense. New OC + playbook, question marks at o-line and WR = recipe for disaster for a rookie. Josh Allen is your prized possession and every effort needs to be made to set him up for success long term. Peterman has played the best overall and has earned the right to start. Once the decision is made to start Allen the organization must be all in there can’t be any half or false starts if he struggles. It is much easier to turn to Allen later in the season if things spiral out of control vs benching Allen and putting in Peterman/McCarron.

With the new kick off rules I expect to see more athletic and faster players kept. So that would mean more WRs, LBs, RBs and DBs in my opinion.

No comparison Big Ben walked onto a 15-1 team his rookie year. He had a strong running game and championship level defense. Ben's main responsibility was to hand off the ball and not screw things up. Josh Allen would be asked to carry a team that is implementing a new offense with a new coordinator. Definitely not the ideal situation for a rookie to walk into. Allen has not shown himself to be heads and shoulder over the other 2 QBs. I don't want him on the field until the coaching staff feels they are 100% sure he is ready to take over and is the best QB on the roster. I want to give Allen every opportunity to be successful. Once named the starter I don't want any setbacks or struggles to result him being yanked in and out of the starting lineup. Because once he hits a rough patch which is to be expected the calls to start Peterman will be loud and should be ignored.

Yeah but all I was hearing was how much of an upgrade McCarron was going to be over Tyrod this offseason. That has lasted for about 2 qtrs of preseason action. Will the same fair weather fans show up if Allen has a bad 1st half week 1 and be clamoring to put Peterman in. I am still in the camp of easing Allen in slowly. Too many question marks on offense to put everything on the rookie.

If this was like Pittsburgh when Roethlisberger was rookie with a championship level defense and strong running game. You could stick a rookie in there and ask him not to screw things up. However, there are too many questions with this offense and this being the 1st year for everyone in Daboll's system leaves a lot of unknowns. Don't want to overload the rookie with having to think too much not just on his job but the job of his teammates around him. The ideal scenario would be to redshirt Allen this year and get him ready to start next year.

This if the yearly NFL yearbook where they look back on last year’s team and give everything a positive spin. Even during the worst years they made the Bills look good which is an achievement in itself. Really looking forward to this year’s edition now that the playoff curse has been lifted.

Before the current CBA agreement I would agree there was pressure on team's to justify the cost of their 1st rd selection. However, now there is less pressure to force a guy into the lineup before he is ready. If I was the coach I would want to see Allen performing consistently better than the 2 other QBs in practice. If he hasn't reached that point yet then I am not putting him on the field. It is not fair to Allen or his teammates. This was a long term investment and I want to make sure he has every chance to succeed. Coming onto a team with a brand new offensive coordinator there is a bunch of unknowns right now in regards to this team.

Would like to see how this D-line perform against a good offensive line. I am not expecting much from our O-line and hope at the very least they can become average over time.

At this point I can't see either Peterman or Allen winning the starting job. Peterman turns the ball over way too much for McDermott in my opinion. While Allen is just too raw at this point to provide the needed consistency required from your starting QB.

I believe I also heard yesterday that Adolphus had turned the corner and was praised by McDermott/Bean so probably looking to trade him.

I don't have confidence with the talent surrounding Allen to begin with and I think it will be detrimental to his development if he sees the field this year. I am hoping the Bills redshirt him this year and bring him along slowly while they attempt to rebuild this offense.

I am totally for rookies coming in early and getting settled in before the Vets show up. Not having actual practices but putting extra time in the classroom and going through walk throughs to learn the playbook.
