If we had a team on the cusp of being great and super bowl contenders I would definitely being interested in making a trade for McNabb. However, this team has so many holes even with Mcnabb here it wouldn't guarantee anything so the cost outweighs the positives.
-
If Tebow is available in the 4-5th round I wouldn't be that upset if the team takes a flyer on him. However, there is no way I am taking him in the first 3 rounds. We need starters/ 1st year contributors at LT, NT, and LB to come out and and make a significant contribution this year. It doesn't appear we are going to be making any major moves in FA and taking chances on projects that will need a few years to develop is risky.

Is Jared Gaither worth the 9th pick?
billieve420 replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow I must have forgot about that which makes it a even bigger joke then. With Ed Reed possibly retiring safety could be a need position for them. -
Is Jared Gaither worth the 9th pick?
billieve420 replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would offer Whitner + 2nd round pick next year for Gaither and see if Baltimore will bite. They did after all gave us a 3rd and 5th for Mcgahee which I thought was an absolute steal. -
Stafford had Culpepper to compete against but proved he was ready to be the starter. If he didn't the Lions would have went with Culpepper. The last thing I want to see is bringing another rookie QB in and throwing him to the wolves. See JP and Trent for where their careers went. People are like yeah support him but a couple bad games and people want to see the back up. We then start this yo yo process all over again yanking guys in and out of the lineup hindering their development. Fix the lines first next year is probably going to be another losing season. I would rather pick a QB from next year's draft class anyway. Even if we draft a rookie QB there is no way I would have him start right away and would rather have them sit their rookie year. Learn the system and then compete for the starting job the following season. What good is it going to do if he is running for his life every snap and looking up at the sky flat on his back.

Anyone else feel the SB was boring?
billieve420 replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Compared to the last 2 superbowls Pitt-Ariz and Giants-Pats it lacked that certain drama that captures your interest. However, those 2 games were some of the best all-time so it was going to be tough to live up to. This game had its moments but felt like it never got out of 2nd gear and was just OK. -
Report: Bills one of 3 going for McNabb
billieve420 replied to shaker4187's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Instead of Mcnabb I would make a move for David Garrard who is younger and cheaper. Would make for a better stop gap while we try and find a franchise QB. Del Rio isn't so enamoured with him and wouldn't cost as much as Mcnabb. If you are going to spend big on any of the philly QBs it should be Kolb but I seriously doubt they would trade him. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...-bus/?related=1 -
Does the 3-4 change who we draft?
billieve420 replied to HooperBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Terrence Cody or Dan Williams if he slips a little should be the pick in Rd 2 if either is available. However, OT in Rd 1 is still the primary need unless there is a run on them before our pick. -
Is WR also a need in the draft???
billieve420 replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't look to the draft a WR we already have 2 young receivers that haven't gotten a chance to prove themselves. I would either sign a verteran FA like Malcolm Floyd from the Chargers who would be available or pick up a undrafted WR after the draft to compete in Training Camp. If we plan on making a change to the 3-4 the majority of picks need to go to the defense. -
Football junkies like myself who obsess over the combine and draft every year. Here is coverage and reviews of Senior Bowl practices from Matt McGuire Walterfootball.com and Scott Wright DraftCountdown.com. Being a Tony Pike supporter disappointed to see him struggle so much on day 1 hopefully he turns it around. However, Dan LeFevour had a good showing and a guy to keep your eye on. All these QBs have question marks and we can't draft one in the 1st this year. I think the safest pick is going to be either LB Rolando Mclain or an OT Bryan Bulaga/Anthony Davis/Trent Williams. http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Sen...Senior-Bowl.php Day 1 North http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Sen...s/North-125.php Day 1 South http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Sen...s/South-125.php

Maybe if enough people keep dropping out Fitzpatrick will be the next one invited to the Pro Bowl.

What Turner has proved with one of the best rosters in football is that he shouldn't be a Head coach.
-
I would rather have given the job to Fewell and hired Gailey as OC. That is a combination I could have lived with. There is no way they can spin this hire and it is a real embarassment that they practically had to give this job away to a retread who hasn't proved he was deserving of another head coaching opporunity.
-
I can't believe they couldn't have gotten Gailey to come here as OC if they really wanted and took a shot instead at Frazier. I guess it is going to come down to who Gailey brings on as coordinators. However, it is going to be a difficult job selling this team next year and all this change bs OBD was selling was a joke.

Nice article on Leslie Frazier
billieve420 replied to billieve420's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I were the Bills I would be willing to listen to anybody who is interested in coaching this team. Frazier is the obvious leader but there is no competition right now. Bring in Rivera, Billick, Garrett, Fassel, etc... for interviews. If they decline so what move onto the next one. Frazier shouldn't win the job by default and I just want the best coach hired whoever that may be. The new head coach needs a clear plan on how they are going to fix the offensive side of the football which is clearly a mess and a proven offensive coordinator is a must in my opinion. -

Minnesota has a big defensive line with the William's duo and Jared Allen. I believe I read somewhere that out of the 45 sacks they recorded this year their D-line was responsible for 38.5. -
Interesting article by a Detriot Lion's blogger during their coaching search last year. I am starting to warm up to the idea and believe he might be the best choice to become our next head coach. Hopefully he can bring in a proven offensive coordinator like Al Saunders to fix that side of the football. Mentions that he is a Jim Johnson disciple which plays an agressive one-gap 4-3 scheme with a variety of blitzes from different postions. If we can shore up the run d and stay healthy next year the defense will be decent. http://thelionsinwinter.blogspot.com/2009/...ie-frazier.html

If the Bills go with a 1st time head coach whoever it is they need to bring veteran coordinators with them. If I am OBD I pick whoever can bring in experienced coordinators that have actually accomplished something in this league. For all the years Jauron has been in the league you would have thought he would have had some contacts but ended up with 1st time coordinators on both sides of the ball.

I wonder if the Flutie curse that was lifted off Wade is now by extension also removed off the Bills. Who knows Patriots lose and Brady doesn't look so perfect anymore. Cowher + Buffalo = Playoffs 2010. Hey a fan can dream can't he?

Bills interviewing Marty's son for HC
billieve420 replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Brian Schottenheimer can bring O-line coach Bill Callahan with him not a bad fallback plan if they can't get a veteran coach. Jet's O-line leads the top ranked rushing attack and they had to do it with a rookie QB so defenses were stacking the box but the Jets were still able to run the ball. -
Bills press conference @2:30-Nix confirmed as new GM
billieve420 replied to zdro22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This organization is such a joke. They interviewed only 3 candidates Modrak, Guy, and Nix. That was a real thorough search can't believe they made a decision so quickly without checking out other candidates. I can't believe that Modrak and Guy were even up for consideration in the first place. -
Bills press conference @2:30-Nix confirmed as new GM
billieve420 replied to zdro22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will be extremely disappointed if Modrak is getting the GM job. He is partially to blame for the mess we are currently in and doesn't deserve to be in charge. Nix hasn't been here long enough so it is difficult to pass judgement but it is defintely not the sexy pick and seems like another Ralph cheap hire. We need a clean sweep of this organization from top to bottom. -
Who's likely to take a QB ahead of us?
billieve420 replied to dtgolder's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would take an chance and draft Tony Pike from Cincy if he is available in the 2nd round when we pick. Not being a 1st round pick there is not as much pressure for him to come in right away and start. I would sit him the entire year and sign/trade for a veteran to fill in for the short term until the o-line is fixed. Trent is done here so i would trade him in the offseason as he is in the completely wrong system and is more of a west coast QB. No young QB is going to be able to develop and grow behind the worst o-line in the league. We have seen too many QBs get thrown into the fire before they are ready resulting in their careers going down the drain. If we do decide to draft another QB next year I hope we don't make the same mistake again like we have done in the past.
