"New" Stadiums don't stay new very long
JM57 replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Braves were put into a stadium that was built for the Olympics, not for them. They merely moved there because Fulton Co. stadium was decrepit and it certainly made the Atlanta Olympic bid more palatable to taxpayers if there was guaranteed use of the stadium after the 1996 games ended. The city was also supposed to develop the area around Turner Field following the Olympics. They didn't. So when Cobb County came calling, with the opportunity for the BRAVES to develop the area around a brand new stadium, they jumped. It also doesn't hurt that the vast majority of their fans aren't from the city of Atlanta, but are coming from Cobb county anyways... -

The Practice Squad Thread - Predictions then Additions
JM57 replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want to say Gurley has been on other team's PS for 2 seasons so he is no longer eligible. Going off that breakdown I would assume Tuel and Graham get the two "expanded" slots unless someone else is poached from elsewhere. I've seen on Twitter that Broomfield has signed to the PS so that leaves 7 more regular slots. My guesses are Holley, Wheeler/MacPherson, Igbinosun, Gaines, Ladler, one of the CBs and maybe Unga/McClain -
That's the word out there. And since you're in Texas you likely know about the "contemplating retirement" job he pulled to get out of Dallas. Put yourself in his shoes. You play that card and get your release. Now you're a free agent, and a few teams come calling. You know you're probably one of the best available at your position. Why on God's green Earth would you even consider making a decision to sign with a team until after camps broke if the teams are basically begging you to sign? Training camps are for guys fighting for roster spots. Orton played it smart by going the "Thanks but no thanks" route until right now. Do I wish he signed earlier so he knew the playbook going into Week 1? Absolutely. But he's an 8 or 9 year NFL vet so I can understand why he would want to skip training camp as well.

...so TJ Graham WOULD be eligible and TBD hero Landon Cohen would not. Interesting. -
Amen. Justin Rogers last year is the easiest, and most glaring, example of depth hurting a team. He had no business being on the field, and it showed, considering he was burnt for like 200 yards and 2 TDs by a guy WHO WAS JUST CUT YESTERDAY.

Bills' Cuts to the 53 Man Roster Limit
JM57 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. The 5th DT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER. He wasn't going to be active if he did make the 53 man. Maybe for once we should trust the fact that the coaches know better. He's already spent multiple camps on rosters with Schwartz. He's 28. At this point, he is a known quantity, and that quantity seems to be "Training Camp All-Star" -

I'm not sure if Graham would be eligible. He played in a lot of games (relatively speaking of course) over 2 seasons. -
Final Cuts for All 32 Teams... getting to 53
JM57 replied to Nanker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I should say he just wasn't overly conservative. He knew that if his team was down 10 it was alright to try and push the ball downfield. It didn't always end well, but it wasn't the end of the world either. -
It is obvious the Bills are not status quo anymore
JM57 replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would bet money on Orton not wanting to sign ANYWHERE until right around now. Why go through training camp if you don't have to when you've been in the league so long and know there's interest? -

Shaw's just a gamer. Very intelligent, uses his athleticism to his advantage since he doesn't have a rocket arm. He's a coach's kid and IMO has a very good grip on the mental side of the game. As a SC fan, I could never fault him for being too conservative or going for the check downs. -
Bills' Cuts to the 53 Man Roster Limit
JM57 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been watching the interior OL (Urbik/Legursky), TE (Gragg/Smith) and developmental QBs(Tuel) that have been cut. Nothing too promising on any fronts IMO until 2 mins ago when I saw the Browns cut Connor Shaw. He's better than Jeff Tuel. Today. -

Didn't they have a Stupar on the roster in recent history? Browns released Connor Shaw. Now there's a developmental #3 I would like to see in place of Tuel. -

Thanks. I don't follow Rodak because well...he's Rodak and not all that good. And that nugget wasn't mentioned by Joe B when I last checked -

I would assume Ladler is a prime PS candidate especially considering the severity of Meeks' injury isn't really known at this point. This is also the 2nd year in a row Meeks has been injured -

But he has player at DE and DT so theyay consider that a "saved spot" due to his flexibility -
From what I see has been an active player in over 20 games since 2008...there's no way I would assume he is eligible. quad, they have to add them to the active roster. What makes a player eligible for a practice squad? A player is eligible if he does not have an accrued season of NFL experience. Players gain an accrued season by being on the active roster for at least six games. If a player has one accrued season, they can still be practice squad eligible if they were on the 45-man active gameday roster for less than nine regular season games. A player is deemed to have served a season on the practice squad if he remains on the practice squad for at least three weeks. Players are eligible to be on the practice squad for two seasons.

The Bills already have Terrelle Pryor on the roster. His name is EJ Manuel. They have the same flaws.

Talent Evaluation...The real problem all these years...
JM57 replied to turbobike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Today I learned that contrary to what the job title would lead you to believe, that the main responsibility of a "Director of Pro Personnel" is to scout college players, not to scout you know...Pro Personnel. THE MORE YOU KNOW! -

Landon Cohen is definitely the problem. Cutting the #5 DT is what has kept this time out of the playoffs for so long. Not the middling QB play. The 52nd guy on a 53 man roster. That's been the difference. -
Kyle Orton rumor [update : now signed]

Dude, the last time he saw significant playing time he was 3-10 as a starter benched for Tim freaking Tebow. -
This is a football and hockey town. They have an afternoon drive host on the sports radio station who doesn't have much of an interest in either of those two sports. DOES NOT COMPUTE.

Joe Buscaglia: Bills 53-man roster projection: 8/18
JM57 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do, just because of Dixon and Summers both having value on game day on ST and I. short yardage packages. Its a foregone conclusion either Spiller or Freddy gets nicked up, at which point Brown is your #2. Its gonna happen. IIRC a guy like Randell Johnson would still be PS eligible if he made the 53 for Week 1 and then was cut to be sent to the PS when Bradham is removed from the suspension list. Just an idea I had.
