Cassel's contract has very low guaranteed money, if anyone were cut in your scenario he would be the most likely guy IMO. Too much dead money to cut a first round pick at the beginning of year 3.
Any competent (keyword) player with could play in Hughes spot and probably get at least 5-7 sacks. That's a byproduct of playing on a line with the 2 Williams and Dareus. Do I think Hughes production in Buffalo is a complete product of playing with them? Absolutely not, he's talented in his own right. But you could likely find many other players to fill his role and still get enough production for the defense to succeed at a cheaper rate
I honestly wasn't aware he had missed half of 2012 as well before my original post but I'll make sure to look through into the past of any player prior to posting going forward to make sure I met your stringent accuracy standards

He's been in the league for nine or ten years and started 11+ games in six or seven of them. Barely played as a rookie.
Iupati is an excellent guard. Unfortunately the teams who sign excellent guards to extravagant FA contracts often end up with buyers remorse. Guard is not a position you want to sink 8+ million a season into for just one guy
Taylor Hall really hasn't been that good this season. I wasted a pick on him in fantasy hockey. He's got 11 G,19 A in 42 games or roughly a 60 point pace. I'd be more worried if the Oilers traded Morgan Eberle with Hall out
That's arguable...I'm not a big PFF cheerleader but they had him at 75 out of 84 tackles.
@PFF_Pete: Michael Oher had a +20.0 @PFF grade in his rookie season. Since then: -76.8 grade, 2nd-worst of any offensive tackle.
@BigBlueUnited: Michael Oher was the 10th worst rated OT in the NFL & 5th worst in run block rating in the NFL in 2014 via @PFF
I'm a new STH and haven't received prizes yet. Does anyone sit in the 200 level next to the Rockpile that could give me an idea of what their bump was?
Chandler would be a top flight #2 TE and red zone season because of his height. Cameron might come a little cheaper than expected because of the concussions. But I really do like Charles Clay
It is well documented back to his college days that Gilmore's at his best when he can play press man coverage, which Rex uses almost exclusively. That is where Gilmore had his advantage due to his size and strength. He struggles when playing off the line or in a zone.
