  1. CBS Sports currently has them projected as the top #2 seed in a region with Villanova at 1, Louisville at 3 and Michigan State at 4. ESPN hasn't updated since 3/6 so I won't bother posting it. still has Kansas as a 1
  2. I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT. Anthony Collins or Geoff Schwartz Brandon Spikes. the end.
  3. Reaching to draft for need is what puts teams in bad positions. You draft the best player available. If its an upgrade on what you have at the position.
  4. I wouldn't be against trading up from #41 depending on who was left on the board in that 20-24 region. I would be against trading up from #9. There will still be a top 5 talent available if QB is picked 2+ times in the top 8.
  5. First sentence is what I came here to post. McClain and Brinkley were veterans who have been cut--they became free agents as soon as their contract was terminated. Guys whose contracts expired (Spikes, Chandler, etc.) cannot negotiate until 12:00 today. That's why there's already been 2 visits.
  6. IIRC, top 4 seeds get placed in the closest tournament site to campus. So Syracuse and Villanova are virtual locks for Buffalo
  7. No, he was not an anomaly. Jordan Todman also put up a big day against them. And the 3rd string RB for Atlanta whose name I don't even know. And Bobby Rainey. That's just in December. I could go back farther if you'd like
  8. This team has apparently completely forgot how to shoot the rock in the last 2 weeks. Yeesh
  9. He needs to take some time and think about this. Maybe cooler heads prevail. The man was blackballed for a long time, then got a raw deal in NY. He has a 3 year offer on the table. If he walks away from that, he's never getting another NHL offer. Regardless of his apparent loyalty to Lafontaine, that's a big risk to take for someone else.
  10. 2/26-3/4 I believe is the free preview window. Miller wearing #39, Ott #29. If you're feeling really nostalgic, former fan favorite Derek Roy wears #12 and Jordan Leopold wears #33. I believe I saw that Ott will be on a line with Roy and TJ Oshie.
  11. I have faith in Tim Murray in regards to scouting and drafting. I believe he had been in charge of the amateur side of things under his uncle for awhile in Ottawa. They drafted some really solid guys in their time there; Erik Karlsson, Jakob Silfverberg, Mika Zibanejad, for example. One other example is that Tim Mureay supposedly was a HUGE advocate for Anaheim drafting Corey Perry back in 03 when he was just a scout. Like, concincing Brian Murray he had to draft Perry. So there is that too. Just hit on 2/3 picks each year and you're set. That's 4 key players to add to the 3 they already have in the pipeline IMO (Girgensons, Ristolainen, Zadorov)
  12. It seems that sometimes the 2 seed is actually better for teams. It seems like an occasion the 1 gets caught off guard when they play the 8/9 winner as opposed to blowing out the #16. Usually your 2/15 games are pretty good to watch, at least for most of the game, but then the #2 gets by the 7/10 winner easily. Unless of course you're talking about a historically weak #2 like Georgetown a few years ago
  13. They won't lose out, and they're still projected as a #1 because everyone else has been losing all week too!
  14. I believe the official word is that IF Buffalo gets STL's 2014 1st, they will be sending MIN's 2014 2nd (from the Pominville trade) and BUF's 2014 3rd. That's fine by me, MIN's pick will likely be in the 42-48 range. The only thing that would have made it better is if it was LA's 2014 2nd, which could be even later than MIN's pick. Regardless, IF they get that 2014 1st from STL, Buffalo is still picking #1 or #2 with their own pick, 26-29 with the STL pick, then again at #30/31 with their own pick. That's 3 top 30 players, which is BIG in a draft that is top-heavy and falls off quickly. And that's also assuming the Islanders defer the 1st they owe to Buffalo to 2015. 2015 is a DEEP draft, and Buffalo will have their own (top 3 likely), NYI's AND STL's 1st rounders.
  15. is it just me or is this team not got any calls since the end of the Duke game last week? I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the ACC rest don't give Syracuse a call for the rest of the season in protest of Boeheim's outburst
  16. Lafontaine walked out on a job with an NHL team for the second time holding his breath and stomping his feet when things don't go his way. That's not a good look for an adult. Even if the rumors that Murray went over his head are true, that's not the way professionals act. I lost a lot of respect for him yesterday.
  17. This is not a good look for Pat Lafontaine. Second time he has quit a team in short order when things don't go vis way.
  18. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few of them.used as currency in trades to help bring in young NHL level talent this summer.
  19. Yes, its assumed they're keeping this years since its a likely top 5 lock after the Tavares injury
  20. He could be a solid depth CB. As a SC fan I am usually high on Gamecocks players, but not EVERY Gamecocks player. I was very high on Gilmore and Jeffery. I loved DJ Swearinger last year, but knew he wasn't a fit for the Bills considering his draft stock and their needs. Hampton's 40 time was a little iffy, but he can definitely play. He's nowhere near as good as Gilmore was at SC, but he could develop into a solid depth playerIMO
  21. This is one time I don't want to wait. You need a great receiver. Robert Woods looks like he will be a very good pro, a solid #2 threat. That's what you get in the 2nd round for the most part.
  22. Anthony Davis is one. They already had Staley when they drafted him and I believe he was #9
  23. I like Victor Hampton as a 4th or 5th round pick. His 40 time was underwhelming but he can play ball. Would be a good depth CB.
  24. If they do, they're wrong. His value is a mid round pick because he's too small to be a 4-3 DE and doesn't bend the edge well enough to be a top flight 3-4 rush prospect. He was borderline top 100 before he came out.
  25. Except Ebron isn't very effective as an in-line TE. So you would be lining him up in the slot like the Saints do with Graham, the Niners with Davis, and how the Pats used to with Hernandez. Which is exactly where you could line Evans up.
