  1. Personally I think they're both going to be very good pros. Hockenson is a better blocker, and unless the Bills bring some guys in via free agency to completely overhaul the position, the only two TE currently on the roster are both converted from other positions and below average blockers, so in the context of this team, I think he's the better fit. Big huge hard pass on Metcalf at 9. His agility drills were beyond awful. Changing direction is....kind of important at the position and he scored bottom of the barrel.
  2. Assuming this is filling the offensive assistant role that Chad Hall held before being promoted?
  3. I would be intrigued to see Chan Gailey's offense with actual talent at WR. If I could take Chan's offense and apply it to the Marrone/Rex era offensive personnel (Watkins, Woods, Hogan, Goodwin) that would be fun.
  4. I cannot agree with this more. Dawkins was no issue at all as a rookie with Incognito next to him. He didn't seem to fall off in 2018 until Teller was next to him. At that point I think it became clear that he was struggling to do his job while also making sure Teller was ready to do his. It would be a big help to Dawkins to have a vet who doesn't need any help there (or to be the one dishing calls to Dawkins)
  5. 4.7 flat is still above average for tight ends. Long speed isn't that important for a tight end. How often are they running a go route compared to working the short or intermediate areas of the field or staying home to block? His 3 cone drill, 20 yard shuttle and 60 yard shuttle (change of direction/agility) results were very good. As were his vertical and broad jump results (lower body strength/explosiveness). His bench press was disappointing IMO, but upper body strength is relatively easy to develop from NCAA to pro, especially for someone with a good athletic profile. Highlighting the drills above with his percentile against other TE (big thanks to MockDraftable.com which is an invaluable resource this time of year) : 40 yard dash: 4.70 (68th) Vertical: 37.5 (90th) Broad Jump: 123" (91st) 3-Cone drill: 7.02 (77th) 20 yard shuttle: 4.18 (85th) 60 yard shuttle: 11.55 (84th) Bench Press: 17 reps (21st)
  6. Not the biggest fan of this idea but if it's a reasonable AAV and term, and they take him and pair him with a guy from the draft (I'm a huge Hockenson fan if the top OT are gone and the Bills can slide back a few picks) then you're cooking with gas
  7. Refs last night were abhorrent for both sides. Expecting that matchup to come up again during championship week
  8. Doing a mock draft elsewhere with all teams represented by fans and I did exactly this. Dolphins guy wanted to move up to 9 to get Kyler Murray, I got #13 and #78 and took Hockenson at 13
  9. My old seats look to have gone down about $100 for a pair. I've already decided not to renew.
  10. - Yes, that's the point, his role is to eat up blockers and space and keep the others free to make plays. - agreed, there are lots of guys in the league that can play that role for half the price or less
  11. Well luckily for the Bills, Bodine is neither a good center nor a quality backup.
  12. That three game stretch last year might be the largest swing in emotion I have had with this team in my entire life. November 2, 2017, during the day: Holy sh...this team is 5-2, the Jets are beatable. Get to 6-2 and you only have to go .500 the rest of the way and they're in the playoffs! November 19, 2017: Holy sh...this team is 6-5. Everything is a mirage. Nathan Peterman is a disaster on a proportion I have never seen. McDermott is over his head. I hate this team and being a fan of it. McDermott has had to earn my respect back since then. Still very luke warm on him. He gets them ready to play, I can't argue with that, but man, he's just so old school and I hate it.
  13. Talent is one part, coaching is another. You still have to get the players to execute. Both of the remaining AFC teams have pretty solid offensive lines. I believe Eric Fisher is the only first round pick on either line.
  14. The worst part about the resident trolls here is that they aren't even good trolls. They're very in your face about it to the point it's obvious.
  15. I would be worried about RB. McCoy and Ivory are both 30+, Murphy is late twenties as well and JAG. They need to bring a kid in this year, let him cut his teeth in 2019 and then turn it over to him in 2020.
  16. That's why they let Mcnally go? Technically both. Mcnally was OL coach from 2004-2007, Kugler was assistant OL in 2007 and OL coach for 2008 and 2009. Peters was on the team 2004-2008.
  17. Smith is an absolute gamer. I know the current regime has a type of DE, and I think Smith's best fit is probably a pass rushing sub edge player in a 3-4 D, but with a few more pounds of muscle he could be the heir apparent in Alexander's hybrid role.
  18. This is a football board, no one cares about your physical preferences. Literally no one.
  19. Just did this one on FanSpeak. Would have liked to address RB earlier but it just didn't shake out properly for that. Only doubled up on WR with Anthony Johnson because he was BPA by almost 20 spots on the big board. 9: R1P9 DL ED OLIVER HOUSTON 41: R2P9 WR N'KEAL HARRY ARIZONA STATE 71: R3P7 G CONNOR MCGOVERN PENN STATE 113: R4P11 WR ANTHONY JOHNSON BUFFALO 133: R4P31 C ROSS PIERSCHBACHER ALABAMA 149: R5P10 EDGE SUTTON SMITH NORTHERN ILLINOIS 159: R5P20 LB RYAN CONLEY WISCONSIN 184: R6P9 CB COEY BALLENTINE WASHBURN 224: R7P8 RB BRUCE ANDERSON NDSU 230: R7P14 OT DERWIN GRAY MARYLAND
  20. 1) I want nothing to do with DK Metcalf, especially at #9. Raw, injury, Ole Miss WR...too many negatives to outweigh his abilities 2) Based on what we know right now, that is, without him getting hurt or absolutely bombing workouts, I'll eat a shoe if Chase Winovich makes it to round 3 let alone 5.
  21. Go watch Hard Knocks. Hue is not only a bad coach, as proven by results, but also an absolute dunce. He has the deadly combination of lack of self awareness and stubbornness. Anyone is an upgrade over that.
