  1. My stupid phone has lost my reply twice now. I get where you're coming from. I just want every weapon in place to help Allen succeed. They took the high variance QB prospect and now they CANNOT let him fail. If it's Oliver vs Hockenson, give me Oliver. I know the value of TE is suppressed but it's funny because when the prospect DOES hit their ceiling (Ertz, Kelce, Kittle, Gronk, etc) you look back at the guys that went ahead of them and see a lot of "mistakes." It says something to me that even Gil Brandt has Hockenson in his top 10 rankings. Almost all of the established "draft guys" do. It's wild. There has to be something there.
  2. Why does it have to be one or the other? There are very few guys that are above average or better at all aspects of playing TE. Gronk was a REALLY good blocker. Did that stop him from catching passes? Kittle and Kelce both graded out very favorably in the blocking department in 2018. They both had over 1300 yards receiving. If you think that's the ceiling for Hockenson, then you have a rare talent and you take him. Even in the top 10. I don't know how anyone could have watched Gronk dump all over this team every time they played and NOT realize the value of an elite TE
  3. I get where you're going with it but Morgan was retired for 4 years and Davis had been a Panther for 6 years before McDermott arrived in Carolina in 2011.
  4. Been working my way through The Beast since it was published. Brugler does quality work.
  5. I think Detroit at 8 and Green Bay at 12 are the ones to worry about around the Bills. Jimmy Graham is Jimmy Graham in name only at this point and he could make that passing game even more dangerous. I think they may surprise us with Hockenson. They learned the value of a QB and MLB with Newton and Kuechly and swung for the fences last year to get Allen and Edmunds. They also know the value of a top tier TE from Greg Olsen. Whether it's Hockenson or Fant or Sternberger, I think they're really interested in getting one in with one of the first few picks
  6. You are obsessed with the defensive line and use Walter football as a reference. It's 2019 and you're stuck in 2002 my dude
  7. I've been "stanning" for Hockenson for a couple months now Beane's quote yesterday got me excited at first, where he was saying they grade tight ends 3 ways and I thought that really was good for Hockenson since he is both a very capable blocker and receiver. However the more I've digested it I don't think he's the pick right now. That's just too obviously broadcasting your love for a guy, a la Doug Whaley.
  8. Now if he doesn't change this pick on version 4.0, lock it in. Check out his 4.0 mock last year on the day of the first round. Order is a little off but he was really close on the top 15 or 16. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000928661/article/jeremiah-mock-draft-40-browns-pick-baker-mayfield-no-1
  9. https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/04/19/schedule-release-teams-thursday-tv-mmqb-peter-king They start in January. Peter King usually posted something like this each year when he was with SI. I'm interested to see if he was able to carry that over to his new position or if it remains with SI.
  10. I think Jake Fisher, if he shows decently in camp, throws a wrench in the Sirles plans. There's not really as much of a need to go into a tackle eligible package like they did with Sirles late in the year when you have a pretty big former OT at TE to be that 6th OL
  11. Until the draft this is my guess: Dawkins Spain Morse Teller Nsheke Morse is the easy one. Giving LG to Spain based on his experience there, flipping Teller to RG as I think he has a chance to earn a starting spot if he improved over the off-season. Dawkins at LT and Nsekhe on the right until a better option is added to the roster. Spencer Long as the primary interior backup, both center and guard. Jon Feliciano as a backup guard. La'Adrian Waddle as the swing tackle. Keep one more somewhere if you feel it absolutely necessary, but I'd prefer they keep 8 instead of 10 like last season.
  12. I like the idea but which one is the space eater? McDermott has had Star in that role on both teams but generally speaking if it weren't him, one DT is tasked with controlling two gaps, occupying blockers and generally making a mess of the interior line where the other one (Kawaan Short in Carolina) is more of a one gap slasher/penetrator. I am not super high on Star in general but I get his role and that it won't necessarily show on the stat sheet. Oliver and Tillery each would get excellent scheme fits in the one gap attacking DT role in this scheme, just not next to each other.
  13. TL;DR: Words ......... More words ;;;;;;;;;;
  14. Isaiah Johnson from Houston. Converted to CB from WR and only has two years at the position. Raw due to inexperience but has flashed all the right skills. https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/isaiah-johnson
  15. This is my #1 guy at 9 now. Pretty much locked in. Jawaan Taylor and Ed Oliver are all right there. Any one of the 3 and I'm happy
  16. Based on the fact neither the Bills or Saints (saw some comments on Twitter from beat reporters) seemed really hot for him following their visits with him I believe it's the second thing you mentioned. If I had to guess, he's looking for closer to market value if he were 100% healthy where the teams are more interested in a "discounted" deal with maybe some incentives based on production if he can get to 100% in time for the season
  17. It's YOUR opinion that his floor is solid starter. A deep ball specialist is not a solid starter to most, and that IS his floor
  18. I don't want a deep ball specialist at 9. That's such a colossal waste of a pick if that's what happens in the future. Like I said before. You got your high variance prospect in Allen. Now you should be surrounding him with guys who will DEFINITELY be good because you don't want to be wasting picks and playing time on guys that won't elevate his game
  19. He was making it happen with his legs more than his arm and that should temper our expectations. I'm not trying to be negative, just being a realist. BB knew he was looking to run and pinned him in and that was by far his worst game in the back half of the season. Teams are gonna study that tape. His floor is as a deep threat specialist if he is unable to develop his route tree at the pro level. That's a pretty low floor especially at #9
  20. If you're basing your 2019 #9 overall pick specifically with an over 40 year old Tom Brady on the mind you're doing it wrong. You should be planning for long term success
  21. You can fall in love with him if you want, but you cannot deny that pinning the hopes of your offense on not one, but two key players with both a very low floor and very high ceiling is not smart. You're taking two huge risks by adding Metcalf to the mix with Allen.
  22. With one year left on the deal it makes absolutely zero sense for the team or the player. They're parting ways after this season. There's no need to stretch it out
  23. Not worried about it much. He was still allowed to go through testing at the combine, whereas in the case of Maurice Hurst and Star Lotulelei were not able to even do the drills after theirs came up
