  1. I was just watching the Detroit/Green Bay game and there was a hit by a Detroit DB on a Green Bay that looked exactly like Poyer’s hit on Coleman and New York intervened and disqualified the Detroit player from the game. Where they not paying attention then to the play in the Bills’ game? Didn’t Poyer also have an unsportsmanlike hit in the first game? He holding a grudge for being cut?
  2. Yep, it’s a franchise record. He got all of that one. It looked like it may have been good from 70.
  3. Jalen Tolbert? The rest of the WRs that played today I’ve never heard of. Too much X-Box!
  4. He made some good plays today. Just don’t throw to him deep.
  5. Daboll & Schonn paying attention?
  6. Last I checked, there are 17 games. 8-2 guarantees nothing. Need to take it a step at a time.
  7. It may have influenced Seattle to sign Dotson.
  8. I know Seattle is a passing team, but holding the Seattle RBs to 16 yards on 12 carries was pretty impressive. I also liked that, as opposed to when Frazier was our DC, when the front 4 wasn’t getting enough pressure, Babich sent more. I love aggressive defense.
  9. That was one of those “they’ll never expect this “ calls that worked.
  10. I wonder how much of it is Babich. They seem more aggressive so far this season.
  11. Shakir was awesome. When they have run similar plays with Curtis Samuel, It usually ends up that the lineman misses a block, Samuel goes the wrong way on the block right into a defender, Samuel runs into the blocker or Samuel just falls down.
  12. Hollins for the fumble recovery.
  13. The broadcast did do a good job of showing with replays that some of the penalties were legit, especially the offensive line holding. NFL football is arguably the most popular sport in the U.S. yet they keep trying to muddy it up.
  14. Regarding concussions in the NFL, I wondered if wearing helmets and shoulder pads made players feel more invincible and gave them more confidence to utilize this armor to make tackles. I thought about the beginning of pro football with leather helmets and shoulder pads and whether players were less likely to get their heads in there on tackles. A good comparison of course is rugby, which our American football was derived from. I did some research on their injuries. It turns out that they have a high incidence of concussions also. Here’s where it differs. The professional rugby union, which the sport is actually called, has the Pitchside Suspected Concussion Assessment (PSCA) which was a 5 minute assessment. A retired former rugby player was involved in having this assessment increased to 10 minutes because it was believed some concussion symptoms didn’t appear for 10 minutes. Of course, there are other studies which note concussion symptoms first appearing hours and even days after an impact. So, again, there was our superstar QB, going thru a brief assessment, that we have no information about, and running back on the field after a couple minutes. Maybe the assessment used by the NFL has been blessed by the AMA but at this point we’re not provided with enough information. If the rugby union decided a 10 minute assessment was necessary, it makes you wonder.
  15. Jury is still out on some 1st rounders that Beane drafted, with Josh and probably Edmunds as hits, but the 2nd round track record is terrible.
  16. Yeah, I got ESPN+ again and started watching Primetime when I remember. After i’ve been away from it for awhile, I find most of Chris Berman’s nicknames and puns annoying instead of funny.
  17. He probably had to keep looking at a list of what he could and couldn’t say. I heard there was a controversial ref call and he just said “I don’t know.” and passed it off to their former ref in the booth.
  18. He’s so small, wearing shoulder pads probably slows him down a notch.
  19. He obviously didn’t think this thru or thought he could do whatever he wanted. I didn’t watch the game he did on Sunday but I read that it was weird. He had to be upbeat about everything. FOX may decide they’re not getting their money’s worth.
  20. That’s his job and he does it well. I don’t get guys making millions to be professional ball catchers who frequently don’t make the catch. Looking at you MVS!!
  21. OMG you guys on the Coleman Combine 40 time. It’s meaningless. if I recall, Jerry Rice was timed at 4.7. In his NFL career, when he caught a pass with nobody in front of him, I don’t ever remember seeing him being caught from behind. Game speed is all that matters. Coleman showed it a couple weeks ago running down the sideline.
  22. Rumbling, bumbling, stumbling!
  23. Sometimes they just wing it. Remember when Gene Steratore took an index card out of his pocket and used it to show the ball was short of the first down? The way UB’s game ended yesterday also pissed me off. Ball was marked improperly and then the chain measurement was sketchy. Usually you see while one guy holds one pole on one end, and at the ball end, the guy lifts the pole until he has tension, then puts the pole down. In this instance, the guy seemed to drag the pole and chain and it looked like the chain was on the ground, not taut. They then said Western Michigan got the first down by a hair, instead of a UB 4th down stop. Game over.
  24. Yes, the football gods gave them some hope, not that Jamis Winston or Dorian Thompson-Robinson can be expected to do much better. At least they’ll have something different. Even though, worst case, it normally takes a year to recover from an Achilles injury, with the way Watson’s attitude has been, would he be expected to work hard on his rehab to get back as soon as he can. I wouldn’t be surprised if he missed all of next season.
