1. LMFAO.. players line up to play for real contenders and it won't affect a damn thing regarding top FAs or resinging our own. Players screw over teams the same way and run off when it suits them just the same, this is not a one way street, its a business.
2. if you can then yes, if you can not use the tools, that is all I have said in this thread. BUT No matter what happens he has chosen social media to vent his frustration or make his desires known and that is something I have ZERO repsect for. Personally I honestly do not care what happens to Cook. SIgn him to a deal, Trade him or force him to play on a tag in 2026, he chose a path that I do not respect. I also have no clue what you are saying about bad optics, its a business and to be honest all the good optics that you say the FO is working towards hasn't done ***** for this team. We are still the team who can't get past the AFCC so every single optic be damned. Keep the best players anyway you can including using tags when needed.
3. You start high on your asking price.. Thats basic negotiating But I agree DK is not worth that picks or salary.
4. At some point you have to use the tools you have in front of you. Especially when a player starts negotiating on Social Media. How much has Beanes and McDs goodwill really done for us. Can't even win a AFCC Game. The players he resigns are solid but none of them have gotten us further. I'm all for negotiating a better deal for Cook and your numbers you suggested are solid, and better than using tags and that works for me. BUT if he hangs onto numbers that do not fit the team going forward you use the tools you have at your disposal. Thats the business.
5. Like I said "That being said this is where Cook must look if he wants a contract extension. He needs to come in under the FT tag number otherwise the Bills/Beane can just use the tag numbers, and Cook is then gambling he will not get injured/ lose a step and kiss a solid contract goodbye." you don't have to pay more and add void years to make it work. We basically have Cook for 3 more years without a new contract (if we have no need to tag someone else). Void years still count against the cap regarding bonuses, so there will be dead money with void years. I agree void years can be a creative way to keep the cap low but if we do not have to then do not.
6. Cook has another on his contract @ a 5.7 million cap hit If we let him playout this year on existing contract we can tag him for 2 more years. The 2nd years tag is 120% of the last years salary.
A player being tagged for the second consecutive season is paid 120% of his previous year's salary.
Exclusive Tag $14M - $18M Non- Exclusive Tag 2 - 1st rd picks if any team signs him and we do not match transition Tag $12M - $16M Doing the math it would cost aproxiamtely $5.7M plus FT-1 $15M FT-2 $18M = $39.7M for 3 years or $5.7 plus TT-1 $13M TT-3 $16M = $34.7M for 3 years Numbers are ballpark. That being said this is where Cook must look if he wants a contract extension. He needs to come in under the FT tag number otherwise the Bills/Beane can just use the tag numbers, and Cook is then gambling he will not get injured/ lose a step and kiss a solid contract goodbye.
7. But it will cost us more in a trade, and it will have to be something(s) of value to make it happen.
8. Yes it will force decisions But that would also be the case for any high end FA or trade we make including Garett.
9. Negotiate an extension, add void years if necessary
10. I see they are 13 million over the cap.... with Geno at QB that's crazy.
11. why would Seattle want to offload Metcalf. Is there some news I missed ?
12. I Understand the frustration, and hope we can correct it
13. [eyeroll] well if he does not we must trade Allen [/eyeroll]
14. Then you have to word it that way I did not read it that way nor would I ever. The author needed to add "this year" for that to make sense
15. Well that makes more sense but it wasn't worded that way in the tweet
16. I may have some questions for you on this one, its sounds like you may have a very weird fetish
17. Thats ridiculous. total horse *****. He isn't even close Tremaine did it at 20 years old, Dorian did it at 23 I'll add this, if this is an AI generated tweet it really makes you wonder why corps are spending Billions on AI because this one is not even close to factual.
18. Phil Hansen was a good edge setter and a great compliment because of Bruce. I think guys like Rousseau are in the mold of Hansen, but Greg has the wingspan and has put up a little better numbers than Hansen sack wise
19. Might be time to call Airbus and get a custom personalized plane for the team built so everyone can have that valued leg room. I'm sure it will help the team feel better when the land after a cross country or even cross the ocean flights I'd recommend an American company like Boeing, but they are known to cut corners and kill people.
20. I do not think anyone here would be ok with another KC trade. Cause if it comes to bite us in the ass we will be forced to hear about it ad nauseum
21. Doesn't change the fact I lost respect for the player.
22. $100 a month is out of my price range. Hopefully the NFL has a better plan but I fear they do not
23. did you notice how Shakir didn't use social media demanding a new contract with a certain amount nor did he delete all references to the Bills....
24. yeah we all saw it coming. We even have people posting here suggesting that all the streaming services get bundled together, ala cable TV
25. But it is determined by how many streaming services a fan must have to watch all the games for their team. Each streaming service will of course have to bid on the rights as well, which has been escalating exponetially over the last couple of decades. So we shall see... So basically cable TV but now with a shiny new wrapper. We have come full circle
