The 1st thing I thought of when Josh signed his extension was that I probably won't be around to see his entire career. I think a lot of us older fans thought that along with the sooner they win the Super Bowl the better chance I'll get to see it. For years, when the Bills were in another rebuild, I would preach patience and always said about the current group of players: I was here before you & I'll be here after you have retired. Well now in my late 60s with some of my parts breaking down, I realize if they don't win it soon, I'll never see a Bills Super Bowl victory. For some my age they think they have a long time left. Some of us do & some of us don't. I'm one of the ones who most likely don't. I have a pretty good idea what will kill me, so I'm not just talking gloom & doom. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it's real. When the Bills win it, think about the people you know who didn't live to see it. I'm sure most of you know at least one & possibly a lot more, and be thankful you were alive to see it happen. I know as long as I'm physically able, I'll be in the stadium when it happens and it will be one of the best days of my life.

Of course he's good-he's already cashed a $2 million signing bonus this season and he gets to keep every cent the government doesn't take.

Bills cuts to get to 53 [final info in the OP]

Come on man! There are about a thousand posts explaining why he'll be back tomorrow. -
Any team that wants him doesn't want to pick up his Patriots contract.

Shaq Lawson on trade block (update - traded to Jets)
Albany,n.y. replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Jets would have been better off sending that pick to Jacksonville 2 days earlier for Minshew. When a team has 2 guys as backups who have never played & the only player to play in the NFL, UFL, AAF, & XFL -traveling man (and ex-Bill among many stops) Josh Johnson, they could have used Minshew as their primary backup. -
I totally disagree, as do all of his teammates on the 2019 Bills, as well as the people who played against him who voted him 87th after his 2nd season. In 2019 he proved to be a leader and a winner. Yes, he made some dumb plays playing hero ball too much because of a weak supporting cast, but if you couldn't see his development I'm glad you're not a Bills scout. There's a reason nobody was waiting in the wings: The Bills management & players who saw him every day loved him & could see development. Instead of dwelling on mistakes they saw the guy who took over games, sometimes all by himself. Go watch the Dallas Thanksgiving game in 2019 & tell me he didn't elevate his game on what to that point was his biggest stage, playing before the whole nation in one of the largest capacity stadiums in the league. Beane proved from the day he arrived that mediocre QB play wasn't going to cut it with him. He knew he had to upgrade from Tyrod on day 1 & I have no doubt that if he had even a modicum of vision through your pessimistic dark colored glasses, he would have hedged his bets on Josh. The fact that he didn't is more evidence that you are flat out wrong in your pre 2020 evaluation of Josh. Sorry, but I don't buy your premise since the Bills teammates, management & the rest of the NFL players disagee with you & the rest of the players who played against him weren't wearing Bills rose colored glasses. A lot of us saw it too. Beane & McDermott saw it & in the 2020-21 offseason they made sure that he was surrounded by talent that would bring out the best in him. It took them 3 years, but they got him a true #1 WR for the 1st time in 2020. I remember times in 2019 when I would watch teams with #1 WRs thinking if Josh had a guy like that the critics would get off his case. The biggest difference, besides the natural development that came with experience, was trading for Diggs, drafting Davis & filling the giant hole at RT with Williams.

Allen was 87th last year, shooting down all the people who say that Allen was a question mark before last season. See his peers already recognized him as an up & coming player BEFORE LAST SEASON because in spite of his stats, which have led many astray in his early years & college days, they saw what he did on the field against them when more often than not, they left on the losing side after playing the 2019 Bills. He was well on his way to being the franchise after his 1st 2 seasons, but for the stat boys it makes a better story that he came out of nowhere because they weren't paying enough attention to Josh development, which was fairly evident after his 2nd season. His peers saw it, voting him the 87th best before his record breaking season.

KR/PR duties— how will this turn out?
Albany,n.y. replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both make the 53, then after some other roster moves McKenzie goes on IR. Stevenson gets a 3 week audition with McKenzie on IR & then if he's good he stays as the return man & McKenzie is activated to the same role as last year. If Stevenson isn't good enough, McKenzie gets the return job & Stevenson gets cut & put on the PS if he clears waivers. -
So what is Philly going to do with Joe Flacco? Could he be headed back to the Jets, who have no backups at QB who belong in the NFL? Josh Johnson will be back in the XFL next spring, unless he wants to get his social security early. The other 2 guys are practice squad quality. I expect more backup QB movement before the start of the season. There are a few teams 3 deep in QBs like Chicago who has no need for Foles but may be stuck with him since he's a cap drain whether he's there or not & has a lot of guaranteed money for a new team to pick him up as a backup. Then there's the mess in Houston with Watson who needs to settle his legal problems before he steps on the field again, if he ever does. The Feds are investigating him & he could end up in a Vick type of situation with real jail time. There are at least 5 teams that if the starter goes down they may not win another game with their current backup. Here is a list of QB depth charts prior to the Minshew trade: https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchartpos/QB

McKenzie found the common sense [Edit: got vaxxed]
Albany,n.y. replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He'll either be inactive or on post 53 IR on opening day. He's probably got at least a 1 month injury. -
We all better hope the Rams don't win the NFC. You saw what happened when a team had home field in the Super Bowl in Tampa. Too big an advantage in the Super Bowl for the other team to overcome.

Josh Allen: Contract extended through 2028
Albany,n.y. replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stats don't tell the whole story. Since I don't watch the Ravens every week, I don't know who the better QB is. Depending on how the offense is designed, a bunch of stats like these can't be evaluated. I see 2 QBs with great stats who both won most of their games. One thing that is pretty clear is the Ravens had a much better run game in 2019 than the Bills had in 2020. The 2019 Ravens offense gained 6,521 total yards. It was equally run/pass. They threw for 3225 yards and ran for 3,296 yards. The 2020 Bills were a passing offense & didn't run anywhere near the 2019 Ravens. They gained 6,343 yards, 178 fewer than the 2019 Ravens, passing for 4,620 yards while running for 1,723 yards. The 2 teams had a totally different offensive philosophy. The 2019 Ravens ran for 2,278 yards after taking out Lamar's yards. The 2020 Bills ran for 1,302 yards after taking out Josh's yards. That's 976 fewer rushing yards, so comparing QB stats for 2 totally different offenses doesn't tell me anything about who is better. The reality is why should we care what the other QBs are doing other than in head to head competition? On that front they're 1-1 against each other with Josh's team winning the playoff game that they went head to head on. Each player is the face of their team. If someone says one is better than the other it is pretty irrelevant. As long as each team is happy with their guy and is winning with him, other than throwing up a bunch of stats, which can be manipulated to show what you want them to show, other than bragging rights, what's the point? If the Ravens feel that Lamar's contribution is worth a huge contract & he gets paid more the only effect on the Bills is that a main AFC competitor has used up more of their cap space & then might not be able to pay their RBs well enough to continue to dwarf the Bills total rushing yards and might become a weaker team overall. I hope the Ravens pay Lamar double what the Bills are paying Josh so they can make guys like Wiley say "I told you so" while destroying their cap. Obviously, that won't happen because the Ravens know better, but if he gets more money than Josh I will say good for him & hope that Josh continues to be on the winning side in head to head matchups. -
Buffalo Bills tickets sources
Albany,n.y. replied to Dave in Avon Lake now's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I may be the only one with a paper ticket around here. 2 years ago I had a problem with bringing up the ticket I bought from the team via Ticketmaster. The people at the gate couldn't figure it out & I had to go to one of the small ticket booths around the stadium to try to bring it up. When I was there I found the ticket & then went back to the gate & went in. My guess is the wifi was stronger at the booth than near the gate. So when I bought my ticket for opening day, I chose the print version. Ticketmaster mailed it to me. It's a small ticket, called a Smart Ticket with a chip in it. It has no bar code. I'm bringing all my paper work just in case the people at the gate don't know how to read the chip inside the ticket. I don't know if a Smart ticket is available on the resale market. -
Bills preseason games on NFL Network
Albany,n.y. replied to CuseBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In Albany both the Giants & Bills are on local TV stations that pick up the feed from NY & Buffalo. They never show the same game on NFL Network even though the cable guide (I have Verizon but I had Spectrum during 2018-19 pre seasons-no games last year) lists the national game. Even on some replays NFL Network shows a different game than the guide says. A couple of years ago they blacked out a live NFL broadcast of a Jets game (the Jets haven't had a local preseason station in Albany for years-they used to) but this year they got it right & showed the Jets/GB live last Saturday at 4:25. I think they try to avoid conflicts with local stations but sometimes they mess up & black out a game in an area that isn't showing the game they blacked out locally. -
Bills and Steelers to get #2 CBS announcing team
Albany,n.y. replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
CBS didn't want the game because of a perceived conflict of interest. They heard Josh Allen owns the Dolphins. -
Travis Etienne out for the season
Albany,n.y. replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills drafted 4 1st round RBs in 14 drafts from 1997-2010. Only Lynch was worth it & Nix & Gailey drove him out of town beause they didn't like him & his off the field problems. So they drafted Spiller & totally devalued Lynch's trade value. -
Travis Etienne out for the season
Albany,n.y. replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They didn't trade up for him. The draft pick was the Rams 1st round pick that was traded during the 2019 season to Jacksonville as part of the Ramsey to LA trade. -
trade idea - Jake Fromm to ATL
Albany,n.y. replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only extra ticket would be Mrs. Fromm. The competition just got tougher-Duck Hodges got cut today and is available. He got some kind of analyst job. If he's smart he'll stick to the media and never play again. -

Veterans are allowed on PCs these days. I found this: What is a veteran practice squad player? *Any player who doesn't qualify under the previous two categories and has played three or more seasons becomes a practice squad veteran.* Only six players can fall into the practice squad veteran category and no more than four who fall into the practice squad exception category.Sep 6, 2020 -
trade idea - Jake Fromm to ATL
Albany,n.y. replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bortles bounced around last year between Denver & the LA Rams, spending most of the season on Denver's practice squad. So he wasn't out of the league, he just didn't get into a game, but at least they let him hang out with the other QBs. He was with GB a few months this offseason & got waived in late July, so he should be in shape. -
Teams have played 2 or 3 games so far. Plenty of time to head north if he has his Covid test & vaccine. He might be in line at the Peace Bridge customs right now. I remember the day he signed. Everyone was so excited because NFL free agency hadn't begun and before we signed Brown & Beasley we had the worst group of receivers known to man.

No they haven't, read the list I added after your reply. They may just coax Matt Schaub back for another year. They are not desperate. They can either sign one now or wait for the 53 cutdown. -

Fromm has never taken a snap in a real game. Why would Atlanta want a totally inexperienced backup? There are a lot better options out there than Jake Fromm: https://nfltraderumors.co/2021-nfl-free-agent-list/ -

Actually, they lost to Cleveland in OT to end their playoff run. The prior week they beat KC in the wild card game.
