What was the walk into the stadium like?
Albany,n.y. replied to The Tomcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went in at 11:10-11:15, no lines at all. My main problen was I bought stadium parking. I left from Depew around 8:20 AM drove straight down Rt 20 (Transit/Southwestern) and a few miles from the stadium traffic came to a dead halt. I got in the stadium lot around 10:15, almost 2 hours for a 15 mile drive on Rt 20. At least I got a spot 2 cars from the road in the lot, about 5 rows down from the exit so getting out wasn't that bad after the game ended. I wore a mask both indoors & outside once the stadium seats filled up. That was because I was staying with friends who would have been upset if I went to the stadium & didn't keep a mask on. If someone is going to put me up for the weekend I'm not going to go against their wishes. I'm not sure what I would have done if I had stayed in a motel since I'm fully vaccinated. -
What will the changes be at the stadium?

It's even worse at Met-Life stadium. I'm going to the Bills game on 11/14 and I got a notice that I must use VISA only cards. Now they have machines at Met-Life where you can buy a VISA debit card with cash. I wonder how well that works and what the fees are. Since I have Mastercard & not VISA I ended up buying a VISA gift card & put $100 on it for both games & left my debit card at home. One thing that I found was that if you look, most prepaid debit cards are reloadable, but they make you do a lot of stuff like registering with them, giving private info that sometimes includes your Social Security number and charge a monthly fee. I was about to give up but then I found that the gift card has none of that nonsense & the fee was a one time $5.95 charge. -
Interesting Josh Allen Stat

The reason the Chiefs come back from 10+ points is because they fall behind in a lot of games by not taking things seriously early on. Then when they get punched in the face they turn to Mahomes to bail them out. -

Years ago on the WGR postgame show with The Coach Chuck Dickerson, a caller termed a phrase that The Coach adopted "4th and stupid" That's the 1st thing I thought on that play-4th and stupid! -
Back when I was working I could get pretty obnoxious during the Super Bowl years. One time a co-worker told me "I never thought the NFL season was too long until I sat next to you." Another time my boss got mad at me when he didn't like my response to questions posed by one of the lawyers in a mock setting for a future trial. I got mad back at him because I thought I gave honest answers (which was not what the lawyer was looking for) to the questions. I yelled back at my boss "I don't care if he doesn't want me testifying, Do whatever you want, I'm going to the Super Bowl in 2 weeks."

Here's the problem with the Giants. Their head coach at the time Pat Shurmur, who some think is a QB savant, wasn't very impressed with Josh Allen. When asked, Shurmur said he thought Allen "had a chance" to be a starter. Not exactly high praise-see link below. I don't know what he thought of Darnold or Rosen but at least they didn't draft either one of them. So, it was either Barkley or a QB who busted because Shurmur didn't want Allen. The Giants have to give Barkley a 2nd contract unless he is bad the next 2 seasons (they already picked up his 5th year option). https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2019/09/12/pat-shurmur-and-josh-allen-chance-to-be-starter-nfl-draft-new-york-giants-buffalo-bills/2302418001/ -
No 2 seasons are the same, that's what changed. So are the 22 same starter Bucs going to start as slowly as they did last year and have only the 4th best record in the NFC again? Did you expect the 2011 NY Giants to repeat even though they were barely over 500 but got hot in the playoffs? Your conclusion that we're going to see the same resuilts as 2020 is illogical.

Tuesday was the season premier of Inside the NFL & Julian Edelman has joined Phil Simms, Ray Lewis, Brandon Marshall and James Brown . James Brown didn't make a pick. Ray Lewis was the only one among the ex-players not to pick the Bills to win the AFC (After he didn't pick the Bills I didn't pay much attention but I think he picked KC) Edelman picked the Bills to beat the Packers, Simms picked the Bills to beat the 49ers, and Marshall picked the Packers to beat the Bills. When I couldn't find Inside the NFL in the TV listings I thought it got cancelled. I did a search & found it is on Paramount +. I was thinking of getting Paramount + before today but Inside the NFL clinched it for me. So if you're looking for it & can't find it, it's on Paramount +

I didn't know how to use it & get in but if you have ticketmaster tickets you can bring up your event & go save to phone. It takes you to the Google pay download & after you download it the ticket is in there if you save it to the phone-at least that's how I think it works, I just found it by trial & error. Then I bought a parking pass & had to do the same thing. They're both in a Google Pay app now.
-
One other thing. When I 1st wanted to switch to a mobile ticket I didn't realize I could just hit a button & change it from a "Smart Ticket" to a mobile ticket. So I tried to transfer it to myself & it kept rejecting it because you can't transfer a ticket to yourself. I even tried a different e-mail address. Then I went to my account in the Ticketmaster site on my desktop & immediately saw the way to change the ticket. For a while I was going back & forth between the computer & my cell phone.

I stayed away last year because I wasn't sure how Covid would affect things but in 2019 I had the same philosophy & killed with seasonal futures bets on the Bills & I ended up winning 4 of the 5 Bills games I bet that year.
-
I expect the Bills to go all the way. I even put some future bets on the season so that if the Bills win the AFC I'll have most of, if not all the money to cover a Super Bowl ticket. I bet the Bills to win the AFC at +550, then, since I think the Chargers will go 11-6 or better I bet the Chargers to win greater than 10.5 games. Now I'm going to have to be patient because the Chargers schedule is front loaded with most of their toughest games. They could be right around .500 at the midpoint of the season, or even a game under it, but they should win most of their games in the 2nd half when the schedule gets a lot easier. I'll get back over $3,000 if the Bills win the AFC & another $3,000 if the Chargers win 11 or more games. Even if the tickets end up being $7,000, I'll be pretty close with my futures bets if the Chargers come through for me. If the Bills don't win the AFC, I won't need Super Bowl money anyway.

Belichick has only one active QB
Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hoyer knows he's good for 2 real paychecks the 1st 2 weeks of the season & then he's either going to be signed to the 53 or released. It's better than nothing. As long as Jones stays healthy BB can do this for 2 weeks with Gilbert & 2 more for the next 2 games with whatever bum of the month they want to sign to the practice squad for the next 2 games. After that Stidham comes back from PUP & then they sign some other younger street free agent to the practice squad. Who knows, by then Nathan Peterman may be available for the Patriots practice squad. and they may have been right. Stidham is the only one of the 3 collecting a full paycheck from NE every week. -

Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know of any team doing what NE is doing-having their 2nd string QB on the practice squad with only 1 QB on the 53 man roster. Hoyer's not being re-signed like the Bills did with Freguson. BB did the same thing with his PKs part of last season, calling them up from the PS on game days & not having them on the 53 man roster. He doesn't have to be on the 53 man roster to be active on gameday, they just need to use one of his call ups, but if it's the same as last year each practice squad player is oly eligible to be called up to a certain amount of games. After NE uses up Hoyer's call ups he will either have to be added to the 53 or they'll have to get more PS QBs if Gilbert uses up his call ups too. -
He has his 2 backups on the practice squad & will probably keep them there until he uses up the callups on Hoyer. He also has Garrett Gilbert on the PS after Dallas let him go. Not surprising that he has pulled off another legal way of getting around roster limits.

Matt Barkley signs with Titans (update - Released)

That's where he ended up, on Tennessee's practice squad -
They don't plan on a lot of extra points, field goals or kickoffs.
