Could we see Jake Fromm play this Sunday?
Albany,n.y. replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just think, 2 years ago after Barkley lit up the Jets in NJ, a lot of Bills fans wanted him to play the rest of the season and wanted Josh to watch & learn. -

I remember when some fans who "saw Brohm play in college" thought we stole Brohm & he was our QB of the future. I had to keep telling them that not only had Brohm cleared waivers after camp in his sophomore season after only 1 season in the NFL, being ignored by some of the best GMs in the league, but how could they believe that Brandon had outsmarted every other GM in the league. -
The "Giving Him the Business" game.

I forgot in my post that there was a time when one of the guys at work had Jets season tickets & would sell the Bills game to me. The best part about his seats were they were in the 2nd to last row of the stadium and right behind his seats was an empty space where a security guard was there throughout the game. Never got hassled while in those seats. Most of the time I've never had a problem at the Meadowlands stadiums. So far never at MetLife. The best way to park was at the old stadium I'd get there early & park as close as possible to the stadium entrance. Nowadays, I don't think I can park that close to the stadium and the best parking for me is near the racetrack where I can make a quick exit to Patterson Plank road back to Rt 17 north. Last year I went to the 1st two games since the Bills played in both. The Jets was a bus trip & the Giants was with my friend Petrino who drove the final miles from his place in Beacon. Parking at the Giants game was brutal because we got there when the lot was already packed. We waited until the lots were empty before we left. Later in the season I went to a Giants/Vikings game & stayed overnight in NJ so I could get there early & get a spot close to the exit. -
The "Giving Him the Business" game.

I was at that game. Back in those days, before the internet, the Jets would have a day before the season started when they would put scattered seat tickets on sale at their offices in Manhattan. None of the available seats were next to each other, but I could get seats back to back like same section, row 12 seat 14, & row 13 seat 14. If we got lucky we could find 2 empty seats next to each other in the area & move there. I took time off from work (I was living & working in Long Island at the time) to go to the Jets offices & was able to get seats in back to back rows. The thing I most remember about buying seats was the ridiculous price I had to pay to park in a parking garage near the Jets offices. A little over a year later I moved to Albany after the 1987 season ( I attended the 1987 season finale in Philadelphia where I was able to get Eagles tickets at the mall in LI) and then for a while I didn't get Jets game seats. In 1990 the Jets moved their offices to Long Island and sold the scattered seats at Hofstra University. I didn't go to any Jets home games in 1990 or 1991. In 1992 I had my father, who lived about 10-15 minutes away from Hofstra, get me Jets tickets to Bills games. He'd bring a portable chair & sit while he waited on line for the tickets. We did this for a few years until I either took a bus trip to Jets games or got tickets on the internet & drove down from Albany. -
I said he'd be in the Hall of Fame after opening day 2019 against the Jets. The real story is this: I was on a bus trip to MetLife last year on opening day. After the game, which the Jets had just lost, the Jets fan in front of me on the bus started saying how Josh Allen sucked and that he was inaccurate. I got mad & told him that Josh Allen would end up in the Hall of Fame. They laughed that day but are not laughing anymore.

Jets tell Gase he will be fired after next week's game

Not if you had a guaranteed contract that says you'll still get paid after you're fired. Coaching is very different than most other jobs. -
We can do a go fund me to help him get back into Canada so he can play the CFL next season.

It all falls apart when the City of Buffalo denies the Bills a Super Bowl victory parade.

Haskins lasted the same amount of time with Washington that Rex Ryan lasted with the Bills. Both let go before the season finale of their 2nd year. -
2021 Opponents are now Confirmed.

If you're talking finances, the worse the opponent the lower the demand for tickets, hence the lower the price. You're trying to have it both ways because once you bring up finances you have to weigh the demand of the opponent. If you want to see Bills-Chiefs any time in the near future you're paying a lot more than Bills-Carolina. -
Another bust QB. Joins Josh Rosen as the 2 quickest 1st round QB busts.

The only division that 1st place hasn't been decided in the AFC is the AFC South and since it's the AFC East's turn to play all teams in the AFC South the entire schedule except game 17 is known. -

Everyone knew what you were saying, but for most of us our reaction was you were ignoring what a good team with superstars we have in the Bills & no matter who the opponent is the Bills are worth the price of admission. -
I disagree completely with your statements. Any team can pull it together with the right GM & coach, especially if they have the right QB. Jacksonville has openings for both GM & coach. How can you say they have no chance in the next 4 years if they get Lawrence & the right GM & right coach? That's ridiculous. Even the graveyard of coaches, Cleveland, has turned it around in Mayfield's 3rd season. The Jets? If the GM doesn't get things right fast, he'll be gone within the next 2 years. Also the Jets organization will be back together when Woody comes back to the USA in January. If they can't straighten it out in 4 years they'll only have themselves to blame. There isn't a team in the NFL, with the right GM, that can't turn things around in 4 years.

Which retread NFL Head Coach would you hire?
Albany,n.y. replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The two 3rd round comp picks over the next 2 drafts goes to the organization that develops a minority candidate, not the team he's hired by. Additionally, since he's out of football, I don't think anyone gets the draft picks for Marvin Lewis. -

In order: 1) Jim Caldwell-look at Detroit with him & then after he left 2) Jack Del Rio-Got a raw deal in Oakland when Mark Davis convinced Gruden to come back 3) Raheem Morris -showed promise in his 2nd season in Tampa Bay & then got fired after going from 10 wins to 4. Took over an 0-5 Atlanta team this year & has them 4-5 since. 4) Jim Harbaugh-Good record in SF, but he's not a long term answer. His act wears very thin with anyone in the organization above him after a few seasons. May work if he's in complete control with no GM. If you want a quick fix that won't last long, he's your guy, very similar to when Billy Martin was a MLB manager. 5) Jason Garrett-Anyone who can last as long as he did in Dallas deserves some consideration. -
Anonymous early MVP, player of year, coach of year, etc
Albany,n.y. replied to Rew's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doug Marrone for coach of the year: While a lot of teams had mediocre seasons, finishing close to .500, Marrone kept his eye on the prize and as a result has Jacksonville in position to get a once in a decade quarterback, potentially setting up the Jaguars for the next 15 years. -
CBS: Bills QB Situation "Mild Intrigue"
Albany,n.y. replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The question is when & for how many years. Will the cap be high enough for an extension fewer than 10 years next year & would that cause both sides to wait until 2022 when they are pretty sure the games can sell out at stadium capacity. -
Phil is a big film guy. He wouldn't offer an opinion without film study. The people who watched tapes of Josh had a totally different opinion of Josh than the ones who looked at stats. Beane looked at every game Josh played, that & the 3 interviews as well as the phone call the afternoon of the draft where Josh explained the teen Tweets was probably a lot more than most of the GMs and all of the amateurs who do draft writeups did.
