Jaguars officially hire Urban Meyer as HC

Nick Saban is still hated by Dolphins fans. Others include Butch Davis in Cleveland, Steve Spurrier in Washington (although he was a success in the USFL prior to his college coaching stints), and back in the 1970s Bud Wilkinson with the St. Louis Cardinals. Some would add our boy Doug Marrone to the list. The only one who came out of college and succeeded that I can think of is Jimmy Johnson. -

Ben is in his 17th season. There's no reason Josh won't last as long. -

Ages of the QB's still in the playoffs
Albany,n.y. replied to tomur67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All 4 AFC QBs became starters in 2018. 3 from the class of 2018 & Mahomes from 2017 who was redshirted his rookie year. Looking back, the 2018 QB class was as advertised, just like 2004 and 1983. Each produced 3 franchise QBs. Just like 1983, the 2nd & 4th QBs weren't much and the QB taken near or at the end of the 1st round turned out to have the most early success. -
A look back at some 2020 Draft sleepers a year on...

Lamar Jackson, CB Nebraska My grade: 4th round Signed with the New York Jets as an UDFA. Started the season on the Jets' practice squad, was out of free elevations by week 5 and so was signed permanently to the active roster. Appeared in 13 games with 6 starts and 2 passes defensed. I heard he's starting at QB for the Ravens this Saturday night. -
Fights in the stands during Wild Card Game? WTF?
Albany,n.y. replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best fight I ever saw was in the upper deck late in the 4th quarter when there were a lot of empty seats. The two guys started rolling down multiple rows and my main concern was making sure I was not in their way. At one point I thought they would make it to the 1st row and try to throw each other over the railing, but the fight went into the concourse & I never found out how it finished. -
I got fired because I didn't want to work when the bills were playing

Years ago I had a boss who every once in a while we'd get into shouting matches. Neither my job nor his was ever in danger. I think he thought that if you got mad about something he knew you cared. One time he got mad at me and I yelled back at him & I said something like "I'm going to the Super Bowl, I don't care if somebody else works on this" When I retired , long after he left for a better job, he sent me an e-mail praising my abilities. The best part of the e-mail was when he wrote: You're the only one ever to tell me to f off, & I deserved it. -
I personally can't stand it when people in the row behind me bang on the seats in my row. If they want to pound on a seat, they should pound on their own damn seat. Now if the row is totally empty in front of them, like a lot of seats are with the limited capacity, they can pound away, but otherwise they are vibrating the fans in front of them and I doubt too many people want their @sses vibrated while trying to watch a football game.

If he doesn't get another HC job, he'll be Andy Reid's OC next season after Bieniemy leaves.

Fans that were at todays game...how was the experience?
Albany,n.y. replied to Beast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm guessing the reason for not opening the upper deck was twofold: Better seats for the fans considering only 6,700 admitted & more noise disruption for the opponent if the fans are closer to the field. -
Leslie Frazier interviewing for Texans job
Albany,n.y. replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Texans head coaching job, if Watson leaves, would be equal to the Browns job before this season. Lots of 1 or 2 losing seasons followed by a firing. -
The difference is Josh showed flashes of brilliance in his rookie year, but also he looked a lot better on the field than his stats indicated due to a horrible O-line & one of, if not the worst, WR corps in the league. It was acknowledged that he was the rawest of the 1st round QBs of 2018,. If a young QB shows the flashes that Josh showed, the organization will let him grow. Even in his rookie year there were times he willed the team to victory. Without him the team would have been lucky if they won 3 games. By year 2 he was pulling out victories in the 4th quarter & leading the Bills to the playoffs. Stat boys may not have noticed how good he was getting, but we visual fans could tell he was the real deal. After what I saw his rookie year, I felt so confident in Josh I made some bets on the Bills winning up to 10 games and making the playoffs for the 2019 season. I cashed them all because it was obvious to me, even with his weak rookie stats, that Josh is a winner. On the other hand, you have a guy like Josh Rosen who played so poorly in his rookie year that he was exposed on tape for the whole league to see. He went from the 10th pick in the draft to traded for a low risk 2nd rounder. There was so little interest in him that Miami was able to trade their original 2nd rounder down to the pick they traded for Rosen & mitigate any risk by getting an additional 2020 2nd round pick back when they traded down. It was amazing Miami gave up that much because they were basically bidding against themselves, but soon realized their mistake & cut Rosen after 1 season with them. Another good example is Christian Hackenberg. A second round pick, he lasted 2 seasons with the Jets & was so bad in practice they wouldn't let him anywhere near the field in a real game. It was pretty obvious early on that he was a bust. I believe that a team can tell pretty early whether a QB has it or doesn't. If that wasn't the case, then why are so many rookie QBs cut and never play a down in the NFL? The player doesn't have to be brilliant as a rookie, but he has to show signs.

Zack Moss- injury updates- McDermott confirms Out
Albany,n.y. replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem is we're not getting enough production from our RBs because none of them are very good. Maybe this opens things up for Williams and he can open some eyes the rest of the way. I don't care about Singletary's or Moss' feelings, they need to upgrade the RB position in the offseason. -
Reich did us some favors
Albany,n.y. replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understood why he went for it on 4th down rather than kick a field goal. He knew he was playing a high scoring team & figured he had to put as many points on the board that he could. The only way to keep up with the Bills is go for TDs, not FGs that close to the endzone. If he gets the TD, he's up 17-7, otherwise he's up 13-7 and as it turned out, he still would have been down 14-13 at halftime with the Bills getting the 2nd half kickoff. -
I expect a 10 year contract with clauses that really make it 5 years, but because they want to pay him big $ next season, he'll get a big signing bonus which will be spread out over 10 years. He'll be making franchise QB money next year. So, if he gets a $40 million signing bonus, it will count $4 million next year on the cap.
