It’s official. The New York Jets legendarily suck!

The game is being televised nationally & should be on all ABC stations tonight. -

I'll take the other view: KC is not that good & we're going to the Super Bowl. -
NFL TV Schedule and Maps: Week 13, 2020
Albany,n.y. replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We get the Jets this week in Albany. I'm hoping they have a pre-recorded "Fire Gase" chant that they can pipe into the broadcast. If they want to truly replicate what the fans would be cheering for "Fire Gase" is a must. Years ago the Bills played the Jets in the 1989 season finale at the Meadowlands. It was an ice cold day and with more no shows than any other game I've ever been to. We got near mid field club level tickets for about $20 each outside the stadium. It was the Joe Must Go game, Joe Walton's final game as coach of the Jets. The Bills won 37-0. Funny aside. I was wearing a ski mask and saw Ralph Wilson come out of his box to the concourse. I yelled at him "All the way to the Super Bowl, Ralph!" I think I startled him because he looked at me like I was crazy. -
He was, here's their draft board:
-
When you have a young, developing franchise QB, I'd rather provide him with veteran established WRs than take a shot in the draft. Last season we brought in 2 veteran WRs to replace a horrible group. Considering we were drafting in the 20s, it made more sense to get a proven #1 WR than to take a shot in the draft this year. Minnesota got a good deal & may have drafted a #1 in our spot, but Josh needed to be surrounded by veterans, not unproven players. On top of that we still drafted 2 later round WRs and Davis is looking pretty good for a 4th rounder. I can't find any fault in how Beane has constructed the WRs group from what was chicken poop in 2018. Before Beane got here we drafted White and signed one of the best pair of S in the league as FAs, no problem that we were unable to draft another pro bowler to pair with White. the secondary is pretty good. The draft and free agency should be used as compliments of each other & overall Beane & McDermott have overhauled this team from a playoff non contender to a perennial contender. Once again, with a young QB, I'd rather bring in veteran offensive linemen than taking a shot in the draft. We had far too many holes on the O-line to address with draft picks. They get huge credit for managing to maneuver in the 2018 draft through both luck & skill to not only scout the right QB, who they had as their top QB in the draft, but get him at a reasonable price, not giving up their 2nd first rounder of 2018 or their 2019 1st rounder. The Jets paid a lot more to move up from 6 to 3 for Darnold and I'm sure there is not a single GM in the NFL who would trade Josh for Sam. As for the front 7 on D, you can't fill them all, but we still have to see what the young guys will do. Don't be surprised if the vets we brought in shine in the playoffs. Edmunds has been hurt for half this season & is playing healthier & better in this 2nd half of the season.

I've considered the Newsome Ravens to be the best drafting team in the league, especially considering they are usually drafting in the 2nd half of each round. He even scored on STs, drafting a P now in his 15th year with the team in the 6th round & getting the most successful PK in the NFL as an undrafted FA in 2012. I was envious of the Ravens for having Newsome all those years when we were drafting bums way ahead of Baltimore.

McDermott is the only Bills head coach who was a 1st time hire HC that has ever had success in Bills history. All other successful Bills coaches were retreads. I think part of the reason for this was Ralph was always looking to cheap out on coaches. Chuck Knox was a great coach but Ralph drove him away.

You missed some of the worsts. I'm old and remember the days of Harvey Johnson (2-23-1), Jim Ringo (3-20), & Hank Bullough (4-17). Honorable mention to John Rauch who went 7-20-1 and quit the team on the 6th day of camp in 1971 over a dispute with Ralph Wilson for his disparaging remarks about former Bills Ron McDole and Paul Maguire. Rex looks like the 2nd coming of Lombardi compared with these clowns.

78 year old Pete Gogolak is alive and kicking and just waiting for an opportunity to set the record as the oldest active player in NFL history.

When I saw the title I thought of a totally different Vikings snow game: I was at the 12/20/75 season finale at Rich Stadium. The Bills lost 35-13 and the fans got pretty unruly in the stands. Spectators started throwing snowballs at the Vikings bench. After the game Bud Grant was livid & blasted Buffalo's fans. Well the next week the Vikings had a home playoff game and someone threw a bottle at the ref's head. For some reason I felt happy that the very next week Grant's own fans proved themselves to be worse than the Bills fans Grant was so angry at.

I once broke a pair of binoculars when I banged them against the wall in the 1st row of the club level endzone seats. Since it was the end of the game, I didn't realize it until the next time I tried to use them.

I used to work the gate with my friend back when I would come in for Bills games in the days when Tasker & AJ Smith had sons playing there. I once met AJ at the gate & he showed me an AFC championship ring he was wearing. One time my friend got Tasker to autograph his book for me. Here's a story on AJ: My friend had a mild heart attack when AJ was GM of the Chargers & AJ sent him a get well letter from his Chargers office.

Marrone next. Stays as long as he keeps them close enough to overtake the Jets for Lawrence. Caldwell is a St Francis grad who my best friend taught years ago.

I doubt it. They probably still have the baseball field configuration in that dump of a stadium. If they want to keep it on the west coast LA or LV would be the top choices. Otherwise the backup stadium is Detroit, since there hasn't been NFL football home team there in years but the field is ready to go.

Was Sam Darnold "Benched"
Albany,n.y. replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best thing for Darnold is to come back strong & win some games so the Jets can't draft a QB. I hope he starts winning this Sunday. Then he needs a new coach. Woody Johnson is coming back in January and he's going to kick his brother's @ss for messing up the Jets. I wouldn't be shocked if the GM gets fired in spite of his long term contract. No contract should ever stand in the way of firing a bad hire. Much like the Bills, the coach chose the GM and if Gase goes, as he certainly will, why keep his preferred GM? While I don't believe a coach can permanently ruin a QB, he can sure make a decent QB look bad. Gase has now stymied the careers of 2 top 10 QB picks. Tannehill is evidence that Gase is a clueless boob. -
Was Sam Darnold "Benched"
Albany,n.y. replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It can't happen if the team isn't 100% sold on Darnold as their QB of the future. He either gets his 5th year option picked up for around $20-25 million, or if he doesn't he's a free agent after next season. So any team that picks him up is going to have a one year rental unless they are fully committed to Darnold & give him a multi-year contact after they trade for him. The rookie contract & 5th year option make a Darnold trade difficult for the team acquiring him. Since Tyrod was traded for a 3rd to be a 1 year rental then maybe Darnold could go for a low 2nd or a 3rd, but Cleveland was pretty dumb making the Taylor trade & the Jets would have to find a poorly managed team as their trade partner & one of the worst managed teams is eliminated since they can't trade him to themselves. -
Bills Jets 1981 Playoff Game (You Tube)
Albany,n.y. replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In 1981 I was living in a rooming house/apt building on River Rd in Tonawanda, just over the City of Buffalo line near Riverside. I had a kitchen but shared a bath. I must have watched the game on a little black & white TV. -
