D.Henry to Free Agency & BUF News Makes Case to Sign Him
biggerdaddynj replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
Derrick Henry will surely take $4 million or 40 cents on the dollar (using Spotrac’s pretty accurate mkt value indicator: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/tennessee-titans/derrick-henry-18994/market-value/) on one of his last chances for a nice pay day … unless there’s a sealed indictment coming down on him. -
Who's your breakout players for next season?
biggerdaddynj replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
We’ve had such great success with our DL picks and DL FA signings how could we not pick a DL. -
The gift that keeps on giving!

His last contract was 2022-2024 for 3 years at $30 million. Unless they get a “cap friendly” number—I’d rather go with Jones for a team friendly two year deal which should be about $2 million less per year then a “realistic” (to) Fatusaki pay cut, don’t see Fatusaki taking a $4 million pay cut to $6 million with no injury discount and that’s where Spotrac has Jones). Then for the obvious, getting younger and cheaper, draft Jones’ replacement this year who they can develop for two years with Jones in-house and then the rookie would hopefully be a nice starter on a two year rookie contract freeing up cap space for those two years to use elsewhere after Jones leaves.

I know how many feel about PFF but found an article, “One 'secret superstar' for all 32 NFL teams entering the 2022 season”. Fatukasi was the pick for Jax. “In today’s pass-happy league, the best way to ensure you fly under the radar is to be a run-stuffing specialist. Being one coming off a below-average year will only magnify that. Fatukasi has been one of the best run stuffers in the league since he came into the NFL, with back-to-back PFF run-defense grades of at least 86.0 before last season’s drop-off. If he can bounce back to that previous level in Jacksonville, he will be an important and unheralded cog of a defense looking to take a big step forward in 2022.” Here’s a link to the PFF (non-subscriber) bio info page on Fatukasi: https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/folorunso-fatukasi/38558

Update: Free Agent RB's Hitting the Market
biggerdaddynj replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure who the answer is this year for that role but kudos to Latavius Murray who deserves a lot of credit for last year because whenever he came in it was pretty clear what he was doing—blocking, grinding out those hard to get 2 yards the D knew was coming and he also caught some timely passes—just looked up his rushing stats 79 atts/300 yds/4 TDs and he converted 27 first downs on those 79 carries (very good ratio for someone who earned them like he did). True professional (analysts always seemed to note his value). Wish him well. -
This has to be a joke. What’s next? They going to turn Buffalo Wings into Kansas City Wings. But, what I really can’t wait for is Araiza “sniffing” around Taylor Swift!!! 😈 PS. I wouldn’t mind them taking former Carolina Panthers’ players (or how about taking Von Miller for Chris Jones 😂).

Cover 1's Top Free Agent Fits for the Bills
biggerdaddynj replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
It seems pretty unanimous—two WRs, a DL and a S in first four rounds aside from any Beane specials at DL snd S in FA. Need some low cost four year rookie contracts at S and DL who can hopefully take over for the one to two year FA vets. That’ll free up cap space which is what everyone agrees is the name of the game. And, from what I’ve heard here and elsewhere there are DL and S who can be had in the top four rounds and could give us that two year cushion (their 3rd and 4th years). Gets us younger… -
I’m still scarred by the Patrick Willis draft!

We gotta hope we can hit on a WR like DK Metcalf who fell down the board into the late 2nd round after being touted early on as a projected higher first round pick. We need the so called “experts” to wrongfully run down a few top tier WRs so they fall to us (in rd. 1 or if Beane decides BPA in rd. 1 isn’t a WR to jump up in rd. 2 which I concur with many others with much more knowledge than me, the drop off after the top five is pretty muddled but there will be some legit gems in there (that’s why many of us want two WRs in the first four rounds with S and DL fitting in with the BPA) but we just need something we have far too little of … luck. No Cody Fords this year, that would be a big blow at this juncture.

I hate Mahomes more than anyone else in sports 99.9% of it because of what he’s done to us but I obviously respect him (as I hold down the bile in my stomach). Though things are obviously far, far different (and very painful) for me now on so many levels than they were thirty years ago when I was a diehard Knicks’ fan, back then I hated Jordan with a passion, enraged me countless times (I mean the guy killed us at every turn, even dropped 55 on us first time back at MSG after his baseball career ended). But, he is my basketball GOAT. Hard to imagine Mahomes reaching that level but if he plays another ten years at or close to this level maybe in thirty years if I’m still alive and kicking things might change. But for now and the foreseeable future I hate the guy for what he’s still in the process of doing to us. Maybe he’ll decide to pursue a baseball career so we have a better chance!

Almost as good of a call as our fake punt to Damar.

Josh got dragged down a lot worse against Eagles and no horse collar.

What are your feelings on James Cook RB1
biggerdaddynj replied to BillMafia716ix's topic in The Stadium Wall
I quickly learned to appreciate Cooks (when he got on the field) after having concerns about his skillset when they drafted him (like many, my concerns were about having an RB1 with his measurables and style of running as we really appeared to needed a legit three down RB1 ((which he isn’t … yet🤞)). Also, so I didn’t have to hold my breath every time Josh was off to the races (which I still love subjectively but fear objectively any time the entire future of our “franchise” tucks it in and runs as Hero Josh who runs like a four inch taller version of Mike Alstott). I sort of thought we drafted Cook to some degree in part because we lost out on signing JD McKissic with his strongest ability (catching)—not judging them as equals in overall talent, Cook is obviously light years ahead of McKissic. Fortunately, Cook has clearly proven to us all that he’s a special “electric back” who will continue to develop into a better player (catching and eventually I hope blocking) that will make more and more contributions so they can expand his repertoire. No matter what anyone might say about him I’d have to think that 99% of fans will concede he’s an outstanding asset we just need to use properly as his play evolves so he will continue to be a more frequent game changer. But, I concur with others who believe Cooks alone is not going to provide us with a stand-alone running game. We need a “thunder” to his “lightning”. I really grew to appreciate Murray’s play but when he came in for Cook it was a blatant tip of the hand that he was going to use his power to get us those 2-3 yards needed for a 1st or as a blocking back when we passed on third and short. I think he did great. Harris went down earlier than I was able to see enough of him to judge him but I really grew to appreciate Ty Johnson (which was one of the nice surprises of the year). He took advantage of his opportunities and delivered nice strong runs contrary to what my aforementioned lack of real football knowledge had me expecting of him before the season started. -
Any Chance of Playing Some 4- 3 Next Year?
biggerdaddynj replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
I liked the Jim Schwartz 4-3 defenses but as others have very aptly noted we need the personnel to run the 4-3 (with some depth too so AJ Klein doesn’t come off his couch to chase after TEs). -
Aside from separation, we’re still looking for a guy that Buddy Nix wanted back in 2013, “we want a guy who can go up and catch the ball, that he's open when he's covered." Puts drafting into perspective.
