  1. I applaud Trump for giving both of them "the business" while on camera and he had them backpedaling which will play well with his base. He could put more pressure on Dems if he did a better job of stating succinctly the obvious case for better securing our borders and putting the ball in the Dems court to get on board. The ranting about a shutdown and repeating himself too much (as he often does) takes away from the issue and making an effective pitch to Americans. Cite the recent caravan problem, the years of immigration abuse, the olive branch of long term residency for DACA people and put the ball in their court for all to see.
  2. Sounds more like a college professor than a US representative getting ready to tackle $22 Trillion in debt.
  3. Shut down? Fine with me. We'll still have funds for Military and entitlements. The rest can rot The government continuing to run with no budget, at huge deficits and no border security would be far more disappointing to me. Shut the ***** down!
  4. True. The wedge issues are more powerful in elections than being able to take credit for solving a problem. Nancy and Chuck could agree to support border security, get relief for over a million among the DACA folks and take a bunch of credit for getting it done but won't do it. Trump on the other hand because he can't argue with much articulation missed a golden opportunity today to tell them both with many watching: "the American people through your inaction will clearly see that you want neither border security or a lasting DACA solution". "They'll see you both for the political hacks that you are if you don't bring your party to the table with a President who wants to fix this". "You're both on the clock starting right now". "The country is watching".
  5. I beg to differ. The Buffalo area IMO was/is a great place to grow up and live. Weather and job opportunities are a bit weak but otherwise I think it's a terrific place. Good education in the area, 2 pro sports teams, decent entertainment, a lot of outdoor activities with water and rural and touristy areas within a reasonable drive. A lot of good people and the cost of living is lower than a lot of other areas. Had a blast growing up there and living there as a young adult. Edit: and you can get around without being trapped in horrible traffic
  6. If the people in France are paid more, they'll object less to higher taxes.
  7. Maybe we should all just light up and be happy and forget this Mueller nonsense
  8. Many of them may sneak in at a later date. Smaller numbers under cover of darkness at unchecked areas can get in unimpeded.
  9. I wish the writer could have complained about the electoral college sooner in the article. That would have saved me some time reading down to that before stopping.
  10. Easily explained. The twitter proof reader at the White House doesn't start until 8:00 AM. This went out without being proofed. I was a proof reader for a sky writing company for years. Mistakes happen.
  11. Add RB to the list of Bills offensive needs for next year.
  12. We've known all year the Bills need big personnel upgrades on offense. Linemen, receivers, a tight end or two and a starting RB. Today was more evidence. The QB in years 2 and beyond might be pretty good. Next year.
  13. And in the Edwards case the funds were paid from campaign funds. In Trump's case the campaign didn't finance the payment which further dilutes the case against Trump.
  14. It's Trump's fault in France. He's given cover to these kind of people across the globe. Rural anti-government dummies. Surprised we haven't seen that narrative in the press yet. Odds are we'll hear that soon.
  15. At the game not in our usual seats as we chose not to buy playoff tickets that year given the Bills limping into the playoffs. It was a decent day weather-wise the game not sold out so my wife and I bought tickets in the upper deck last minute. A lot of people left at halftime and when Houston went up 35-3 early in 3rd quarter, many others left. We stuck it out. Shocked as the Bills came back and won. Know a couple people that left at 35-3 who heard cheers as they got to their cars but had no intentions of turning around. Others tried to get back into the stadium and were denied. Quite an experience.
  16. No that's actually just a spelling or typing error which is like a traffic ticket. Grammar errors are like felonies.
  17. If there has been fraud or wrongdoings in any election regardless of which side benefits, it needs to be fixed. That would certainly seem obvious yet lawmakers and election officials resist changes to improve integrity in the process. Most of the problems we see reported or rumored stem from the openness of voting such as greater use of absentee ballots, early voting, online registration without strict verification, campaign volunteers "helping" people vote, dead folks still being registered and voters that move and register in multiple jurisdictions. All this makes the process less secure.
  18. Agree he's nothing like Perot but all it would take to derail Trump would be a republican of sorts running as an independent to siphon off a few percentage points of votes. Don't rule out the Dems getting a shill in there. Politically it would be very smart of them to help fund a 3rd candidate.
  19. Maybe but Dems likely see Trump as a weak incumbent with very high negatives which might motivate some like Beto to run in 2020 that would otherwise wait. He got a lot of exposure this last cycle against Cruz. Will likely be a huge Dem field in 2020 and again in 2024 if Trump manages to win. Flake (or someone else) on the other hand who hates Trump might run as an independent and Ross Perot-bomb Trump.
