  1. Sorry I missed this thread. If this is planned again, schedule on a day when you can drive up to the track and do 2 or 3 laps (at a reasonable speed) for $25. Well worth it and an uncommon experience for most. It's an amazing track. Big, fast with elevation changes and billiard table smooth. Details on track website. http://www.theglen.com/Tickets-Events/Drive-The-Glen.aspx
  2. Yeah, most wouldn't even be aware that they had a football team. Tiny school.
  3. Tee up your DR scorecard, for tomorrow will provide an opportunity to make some tally's.
  4. Electorally speaking, Trump was elected by a lot of former Obama voters in the key states. Democrats. Democrats who wouldn't vote for Hillary. They pushed him over the finish line.
  5. Rodman must be pissing off the left. His relationship with Kim essentially takes the race card off the table for libs to use as a reason Obama made no progress on NK. You're going to see concessions with trading partners on tariffs before he's done.
  6. This NK thing has a long way to go before it can be called a success, but Trump has taken the opening kickoff and driven the team into the end zone. Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap.
  7. SNL is writing the Trump/Kim bad hair skit to now include Dennis Rodman.
  8. Well the answer should be quite obvious, tax the rich!
  9. A black acqauintence of mine does some community work in some of the majority black neighborhoods in the city of Chicago. He told me that his organization a few years ago surveyed a few hundred high school boys and that over 80% answered a career goal question that they want to be a pro athlete. He said of course that's not possible and that the black community in these areas mostly sees black celebrities as successful and not enough examples of success in more attainable professions. As others have already pointed out, surroundings and support really matter.
  10. He'll be missed. He's a very bright, articulate and interesting guy. Enjoyed listening to him and have a lot of respect for how he overcame his injury and disability.
  11. Let's just stop calling it insurance and call it what it is - Free health care.
  12. The bill is flawed. It doesn't include a female minority requirement.
  13. A fitting birthday gift to the President and Flag Day to boot!
  14. I can tell you that in the city of Chicago, smaller crimes which are vigorously prosecuted in the suburbs are not at all pursued in the city. In Chicago you can steal a purse, use people's credit cards, hit and run in a car accident, damage or steal people's property, push or possess petty drug stuff and be undeniably identified in doing the crime and the police will not even file charges and they will tell the victims "sorry, can't help you". In the case of groups of youths committing crimes such as these, the police will put you on the train, pay your fare and send you home. If other large cities are doing the same, crime in cities is under-reported and under prosecuted compared to more affluent suburban areas. I would tell Jenkins and others, be careful what you wish for. Equal application of the law state-wide and nation-wide might not yield the result you're looking for.
  15. There is a sure fire way of staying out of jail.
  16. To put this in baseball terms, you are way out in left field on this.
  17. The hijackers had box cutters, their only weapons on board, right? You can still today get something through security that will enable 5 people to get into a cockpit and kill pilots if they are intent on doing so and can sort of fly a jet. The only real deterrents are passengers that may be more aware and more aggressive and air marshalls that are on some flights, but those intent on doing bad can probably figure out which flights are not protected.
  18. No conspiracy but Clinton had the chance to take out Bin Laden while knowing he was a very bad actor and didn't do it. Many of those involved trained and planned the mission while in the US while over staying visa's so the lack of immigration enforcement allowed that to happen. I think it will most definitely drag on for years, the investigation and prosecution of DOJ/IC people that is. The entire DOJ/IC apparatus is obstructing and slow walking the thing now and the court system allows for substantial delay tactics, so I can't see it being anything but a very long affair. Years.
  19. Whatever happened to CK accepting the consequences that came as a result of his demonstrations?
  20. Yes actually. So what about the reports that the DOJ is doctoring up the inspector's recent report thus delaying its release? ...and why would Session's recusal stop him from seeing how and when this report is made public? Seems to me that this pending report which covers mostly the Clinton investigation isn't related to all things Russian election collusion?
  21. Don't know how much experience you have with college applications and the various aid programs that are out there but you can likely find some help for your daughter. Having put 3 through college 1 of which has a vision impairment I can tell you that acceptance and assistance varies wildly from state to state and school to school. Being in community college now she could look to transfer to a 4 year school and for sure if you inquire you will find tutoring and other study accommodations available at most schools. That is an absolute certainty but will vary some from school to school. Financial aid-wise there should also be some offers out there but you have to dig at each school/state and her choice of major may also impact that. It can be a lot of work but worth it IMO. Mine visually impaired was given extra time for testing, large font materials, visual aids, preferential course registration and applied for and received a small departmental scholarship. Don't know where you are but most in-state tuition is relatively cheap in most states.
  22. I don't think a willingness to confront or practice a bit of diplomacy with your philosophical adversaries is showing weakness. Quite the opposite IMO, but agree with your point that it's not Trump's way. Given the extent to which he is under attack each day and what his true priorities are or should be, it's not unreasonable to cancel the Eagle visit. I still think it was a missed opportunity for him and for them. At the very least it results in Sarah Sanders telling the press corps the next day that the President made the offer to have some dialogue and nearly all chose not to show up.
  23. Agree there's a culture war, but Trump could gain even more ground IMO if he better addressed some of his negative perceptions. He can bring people to his side on some issues without alienating his base.
  24. From public statements by black athletes it's apparent that many really believe that Trump himself is a racist. It's a bad public perception and one that he should work to correct. This was a chance to work on that.
  25. Missed opportunity by Trump and the Eagle's players. Trump should have offered to have a sit down with them and discuss their mutual views on the whatever is bothering the players. If then few if any showed up Trump could report on the visit, the discussion and the failure of so many to be present.
