Chuck Pollock retiring from Olean Times Herald after 50 years
JaBu replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Likewise, he was my source of Bills' news in my youth (not in my 70's yet 😀) as that was my family's newspaper down in that area. Unlike today's internet age with a plethora of info at your finger tips, one back then was dependent on a decent reporter to get any depth of football news. -

Any Bills Fans ever been to the NFL Draft (I'll start)
JaBu replied to Sweet Lou's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's a great story and a nice memory during a difficult time; awesome of that Limo driver to do that for you. I'm guessing your moniker comes from "Sweet Lou" Piccone. I've not thought about him in years. -
They converted base salary into a bonus, creating another $5.4 million in cap space. Diggs’ cap hits now will be $14.8 million in 2023, $27.8 million in 2024, $27.3 million in 2025, $28.4 million in 2026 and $22.5 million in 2027.

The Raiders are supposed to be very interested.

In the interview Tua was asked what the hardest stadium was for him to play in. His answer "Buffalo"......."that was electrifying." around the 3:13 mark Also said he is now taking a Judo class once a week so he can "learn how to fall" to avoid future concussions. around the 2:20 mark She's not the greatest interviewer 😕 https://twitter.com/i/status/1624162520478130176

or actually Reuben Foster 🤨

Arthur Smith made it a point to say that Mariota's benching was "performance based" and not because he was likely going on IR. This isn't a tank job. Ridder looked good in the pre season games I saw; better than Mariota to me, who was generally seen as "a placeholder" here. Further, Josh earlier this year said he was impressed by Ridder, who was out training with him at Palmer's place in CA. The Falcons are generally devoid of talent and not going very far unless Ridder is a miracle maker. I think the locker room will perceive the move as a positive.

As a young kid I got his autograph when the Bills trained in a field at the Blasdell Motel (wow, hard to believe that now). Years later (2005ish) Jack was a speaker at a conference my wife was at. She told him I had gotten his autograph as a kid, so he wrote me a note and signed it. He was always approachable, upbeat and amiable.

However he was listed as FP, Full Participant, on WED. injury report. So he must be near healed up. I'm wondering if those 88 snaps he took in Miami really drained him and had a lasting effect. Diggs constantly took himself out of that game and afterwards had 2 IV's, yet Gabe played virtually every offense snap.

You are missing nothing. The League doesn't go to tie breakers unless there are identical won/loss records. The 14-3 noted above is the #1 seed.

This has to be the deepest dline we’ve ever had
JaBu replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wasn't surprised to see him inactive. In looking over the roster I thought he may be the candidate to be sent to the practice squad when Tre comes back. If tonight is an indication, that D-line rotation is going to be tough to crack. -
Elam's strength is playing press, he is still learning how to "effectively" play zone. Benford's strong suit is zone and as Collingsworth said, the Bills played zone all night. Thus Benford was the best choice to play in tonight's game plan. I'm confident they can coach Elam up to speed as he gains more experience. He has all the physical tools to excel.

🎂 Nice touch, enjoy!

Like a rookie as Epenesa (who we haven’t heard much about so far) was taking him to school. That’s to be expected though for a late round pick at this stage. I think he’s destined for the practice squad.

Marlin the Magician Brisoce - 70s Bill - Passes Away
JaBu replied to First Round Bust's topic in The Stadium Wall
Marlin was more acrobatic than McKenzie is and was a better route runner with good hands. Ironically the player that came to me as comparable is Lamar Jackson, even though he’s a qb, because of his skill set. Evidently Bill Polian also saw Lamar’s skills at wr as a fit as he said that would be his best position as a pro. Marlin was a pure joy to watch. -
You seem to be confusing our former guard Reggie McKenzie, age 71, with Dolphins senior personnel executive and former linebacker Reggie McKenzie, age 59. No doubt though our Reggie is a smart guy as he established Reggie McKenzie Industrial Materials, an industrial products company; even if he’s not a front office guy. 🦬 🦬

I guess you never saw "House" Ballard 😲 At 6'6 & 325lbs (at least) he was definitely on the large side. 😅

Or conversely..... 😆

Dang! two AFC teams seemed to really help themselves : Jets & KC
JaBu replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Chenal is not good in coverage, something the Bills D requires. Bernard is very good in coverage and is a good pass rusher. -
I totally agree with your sentiment. I think those upset about losing a 4th are stuck in the drought mindset when we were constantly trying to build a decent team. Back then every potential player was needed to try to better the roster. Now, with a built team, it's more important to add that impactful player that they see in reach.
-
I'd forgotten about him, but when I think 4th round Jeff Yeates always comes to mind. He's someone 98% of the people here likely have never heard of. He was a decent d-lineman in the 70's that I remember built swimming pools in the off season. Football careers have changed a bit since then.
