  1. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........uh, oh, what?.....I woke up for this? .....hummmmmm.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
  2. You said, " As far as I remember, and I was pretty mad about this, so I'm quite sure I remember it right - they never played Pat/Ted side by side in a 4-3. They were 3-4, so it was usually one or the other." Not dismissing your second sentence, but that doesn't change your first statement one iota, which wasn't correct. Out.....
  3. Tell that to the Colts (Peyton Manning), or the Patriots (Tom Brady), or San Diego (Philip Rivers), or Houston (Matt Schaub), or actually the majority of the team in the NFL. A QB only needs to be mobile enough to be able to quickly move around in the pocket when needed.
  4. I was thinking similarly on this as well. Our own, Alex Carrington is a big boy in the 285-290 range and may still grwo a bit more (weight wise), and he is anything but fat. I wonder if the league/NFLPA would ever consider body fat maximums? Seems, this would be helpful to the players while playing and after.
  5. Memories! Nice pix. Only went to the Rockpile once as a lad, but I'll never forget the obstructed views (roof overhang supports) while trying to watch the game.
  6. You clearly said "never" (see above). While it wasn't their base defense, your "never" statement was completely inaccurate. It was also used periodically in other games and of course, in goal line situations. Last I knew, "never" didn't mean some of the time, periodically, or infrequently.
  7. Smerlas WAS a better player than Wright in his day. Maybe he could have pulled one more big day out of his hat (and manage to stay onside). Yet when he was let go (yes, the Bills declined to pursue re-signing him after the 1989 season, in which his game was deteriorating from his previous standard). In 1990, he played 6 games for SF, and played behind Michael Carter. In 1991 and 1992, he played for the Patriots and played behind Tim Goad. After the 1989 season, Fred was pretty much done as a player.
  8. Not so fast there. Does anyone other than myself recall the Bills opener in 2000 against the Titans, which the Bills one, yet the Titan's running game featuring Eddie George was totally shut down as was the entire Titans offense? George 17 carries for 37 yards, Titans totals 20 carries, 53 yards. The Bills went 1st & 2nd downs most of the game with Pat and Ted side by side. It wasn't often, but the Bills did use both together from time to time.
  9. Just be careful with the weight comparisons and "listed weights". Ted Washington was also "listed" at 325 for years and it was reported in his last year in Buffalo that he crowded 400 plus at times. It can go the other way as well. Bruce Smith carried a "listed" weigh of 273 but it was also reported back in the day that he frequently slipped under 260. Light or heavy, both Bruce and Ted were "players".
  10. I would agree, but only if the Steelers manage to wipe that wise azz smirk off of Rodgers face in the process.
  11. The "Jest" defense the past couple of years has been special, and it's hard not to like the Jest penchant for having strong o-lines (which was true even before Ryan), yet he's had an owner willing to spend big the past few years on players (FA's). I donb't believe all the success the team has had of late is primarily due to Ryan. $$$ is the prime reason. Still, as evidenced before the season began, there is a group of players on that team (led by Mangold) that they haven't been taken care of as promised. Winning is a heck of a cure for what ails a team, but let them have some adversity and they would crumble from within.
  12. Now, if the NFLPA & NFL can get the darn CBA in place, we can also watch them implode with salary cap issues. That is, assuming a cap will still be part of the agreement. At least he can now go home a play with that "wife" of his until he gets back on his "feet". (edit: Rex with Tasker post game, "well be back and we'll win this sucker..." Piss off you loud mouth jackwagon.)
  13. PRICELESS !!!!! Good bye Jests........
  14. Some want Tebow, some want Cam, but all of you are out of your minds. No, no, no Tebow, no Cam.
  15. 51-3 But hey, the game (1st half) was the most awesome performance we'll likely ever to see from the Bills. I still recall holding my 4 1/2 month old baby daughter while watching the game. She slept the entire game....in my arms.
  16. Langston received the most by far, yet none of these guys cost the Bills or performed as badly as those on the list. Langston, overpaid, but he at least gave us a RT who could stay on the field and do his job with some level of decency. Jeffcoat for a couple years played responably well as a spot/rotation guy. Quinn had 110 catches his first two years with Buffalo, and lost his job in his third year to Eric Moulds (who exploded in 1998). The guy on the other side was someone named Andree Reed. Quinn played behind them. Eddie Robinson cost us very very little, which was deserved as he gave us very very little (except for the enormously embarrassing whiff on Pennington) in return.
  17. Maybe....but the underneath stuff to Welker would have been more effective had the Jets had to account for Moss.
  18. No one around here has thought of the Patriots as a classy team.
  19. What a warm, friendly, informative guy he is! At least the Homeless Hoodie has been sent packing along with his whimpy (talented, yes, but whimpy none the less) QB.
  20. Jeez..... Hate the Jets, you bet, but it's bye bye Brady.....YES!
  21. Dumb and Dumber Possibly irrelevant this time..... Have you all been in a coma? Wannstedt anyone? You've must have missed his recent visit. Nix and Gailey don't appear to be the splashy types you need to fulfill you. You must be of the Billboard ilk. With the LB coach let go, Wannstedt brought in (look see), you fail to see Nix/Gailey's dissatisfaction with the defense? There's also a talent issue which no amount of coaching will fix. Developing Troup, Carrington, Moats and adding a healthy Merriman and HOPEFULLY an FA or two along with a strong draft, may well be just what the doctor has ordered.
  22. One can hope.....
  23. Quinn over Bowers....
  24. Ah, Mr Wonderful, who is anything but..... Like them or not, it's the first time in a long time that the Bills actually had football people making the decisions, instead of the Brandon, Levy, Jauron circus. It will take time to undo the damage done by them, but it today's "I want it now" mentality, they must be failures.........
