Just for the fun of it, I recently went over to a couple Browns boards and read where a number of Browns posters spoke of how often Ahtyba Rubin has gotten pushed around this year. While Wood looked good in his debut at center, lets not go over board. Lets see what he can do against the likes of Wilfork, etc.

Not as far away as some may think...
Spiderweb replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the area of the team that needs a talent infusion the most. 2-3 key additions would be extremely helpful, but still may not be enough. To date, Poz is the only LB of note (with Moats showing some promise) and Kyle Williams as the only keeper on the DL (Carrington still an unknown and Troup having some good moments but needs more of them). -
....and that summation is dead on the money.

McGee may get significant playing time vs Browns

.....and I'd like to know why I now have bulging disks at L4 & L5. Age, activities, heredity (I suspect), all have a role. -
In part due to injury, and dare I say it, also in part to Nix and company trying to find players who can help the team, we seem to be very actively scouring our opponents practice squads. Whether we find any real players or not, I do like how Nix & company aren't simply sitting on their hands. D-line help is obviously needed. TE's have been an issue for a long time. LB's also are needed. We have a lot of holes, and if the Bills can hit on a couple PS signings, our draft may be able to be a bit more focused and productive.

A few years back, against Miami, we won, but the entire game all he did was talk up Cleo Lemon, who sucked. Pissed me off and haven't liked hearing his voice since.....

LT is where athletic, finesse players find themselves generally. RT is generally decent at PB, but stronger in the run game.

Bolen is far from one of the originals. I agree with the Chan assessment. Not sold on Nix, but then how much do we really know about what he does. It may take a year of two more, but Chan is so unlike Humpty-Dumpty, and the rest that followed him during the past decade, that I finally see some hope, some plan........ Now, if only they can find a way to at least slow down the opponents run game......(which is way I still question how good Kyle Williams really is even though I like the guy a lot).

Our two biggest, remaining disappointments will both be active today, with Troup's injury and Torbor to the IR. What wastes of roster sport they've been to date.

Kyle Williams .... this guy needs a nickname

K-Dub sticks, as does Buff-Daddy. Rap/Hip Hop references just plain reek. -
Sayers simply did have the years (number of) that should be there to consider him one of the greatest all-time. Before he blew out his knee, he was fantastic though. Sanders was as explosive, and he was durable. Payton, Smith, Dickerson, Simpson, etc, were all great players, but the absolute best RB of all time is still the great Jim Brown. No one has ever been so thoroughly dominating as he was his entire career. Emmit was a shell of himself the last 3 years when he was chasing down the All-time yardage record. He also had the privilege of playing behind a huge offensive line in his heyday. Had Walter Payton played in Dallas during those same years as did Smith, I firmly believe his numbers would have exceeded Smith's considerably. #1 - Jim Brown #2 - Walter Payton #3 - Barry Sanders

NFL has $900M set aside for CBA negotiations
Spiderweb replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I recall correctly, the NFL is guaranteeing or covering all the debt, only a portion. Can anyone elaborate further? -
With some, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. Solid reply.

And that's your basis used to start this unbelievable thread? Fitz has a brain, that can actually make a "read" in real time. He has confidence, courage, moxie, which are all things that are alien to Edwards. If Fitz had an arm and mechanics that didn't abandon him as frequently as they do, he very well could be a great QB. Alas, his accuracy is his Achilles heal, but to think for even a nanosecond that Edwards could be doing what Fitz is doing, maybe even better, is the most ridiculous thing posted here in years.

About $803.71 -
Since he was hired, I've listened to many excerpts from his pressers and I have to say, I genuinely like listening to want he has to say. He's an exact opposite of what Marv Levy & Co. gave us when they hired Jauron. He speaks well (with a bit of southern drawl), generally has something to of value to say in response to questions, both good and bad. To me, he gives the impression that he's a well grounded, honest, man of good character. In all my years of following the Bills, I enjoy listening to Gailey more than any HC and that includes Marv. With the Bills opening the season so horribly with Edwards and an offense that couldn't get out of it own way, a defense that was so bad that to say it leaked like a sieve would be to do injustice to a sieve, the team has come together impressively. From the Bills being the joke of the media guys and maybe the league, to a team I dare to say, that seem capable of playing with anybody. Chan and much of his staff have done a good job learning the best way to utilize the players he has. Defense has improved, although much work remains, especially in run defense and ability to get a consistent pass rush (yes, our pass rush against the Steelers was as good as we've seen in quite some time. The offense, which Chan is highly involved with has become, again dare I say it, explosive. It may struggle a bit from time to time, but it has also shown to be one that can explode at any given time, unlike the offense of the few years and the start of this season. If all Nix ever does for the Bills is to give us Gailey, at least he's done one good solid piece of work there. Now here's to hoping that Nix will rely heavily on input from Gailey, and that Modrak will soon be spending his time in Florida retired.

Whoa, not unlike myself, you've witnessed more than just a few fall seasons. I liked Brodie and the 49ers when I was a lad.

While the standing Buffalo is a classic logo, the Bills first real one, it is dated and I would also prefer the charging Buffalo over it anytime. I also liked the white helmets. So......take the helmet of the 1974 Bills (white with blue charging Buffalo with the red stripe) and the colors of the 90's. Blue jersey, white pants at home, blue pants, white jerseys on the road. Hey, that's just what I would prefer.

As young developing receiver, I wondered why he was sent up to the podium to begin with. Was Chan trying to teach the kid humility and mental toughness? It was hard watching and listening to him. It obviously hit home. Now he needs to swallow his pride, put it behind him and go out to become one of the best receivers in the game.

Is David Nelson basically the Bills Tight End?
Spiderweb replied to JPicc2114's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
??? A tall, lanky WR isn't generally where one looks to find your next TE. Height - good, lanky - bad. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game,
Spiderweb replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
50 / 50. Bell has improved tremendously over last year and while Whitner may have made some hits, his coverage skills still seem horribly lacking to me.
