  1. I believe Nix's hope is that Merriman will be able to go decently in 2011, thus adding a solid ( if not very good) OLB. This would make a DE (Dareus?) a solid pick with our first. That is unless The Bills brass is in awe of the performances of Duan Edwards and Marcus (I'm getting real long in the tooth") Stroud this year. Carrington make work out well, but he surely didn't show enough to rest the future on him alone.
  2. As I mentioned before, a voice of reason....... (agree as well). Brohm stunk today, but as for writing him off on this performance alone? No, that would be simply a knee jerk reaction.
  3. Started, but too long and intended more for season ticket holders, not those who come in from out of town for a game or two a year.
  4. Well said SDS, well said.
  5. Brown threw the last pick, finishing 2 of 3 with a pick. Brohm was bad, but so was the O-line. One thing for sure though, and I'm not a big Fitz supporter, is that I believe Fitz would have made much better line calls to get the blocks needed more often than Brohm. In fact, I'd bet that Wood made the calls more than did Brohm. I don't believe Brohm was any where near ready for the speed (as Gailey said in the post game). No apologies, no excuses, Brohm stunk today, but how well did Fitz do last week? I must have missed something, as I thought he had 5 turnovers all by himself.
  6. Beastmode finished the year with 662 yards between Buff and Sea, at 3.6 yards per carry. Our Fred Jackson finished with 927 yards, at 4.2 per carry. Easily would have had 1000 plus had Jackson not lost PT with the Lynch Spiller combo the first 4 games this year. In those first 4 games, Fred got 20 carries combined for 87 yards total. Good luck to Lynch.....his team will need it.
  7. Hummm, did you miss last weeks game or the first game against the Pats with two 4th quarter picks, or the quarter picks against the Ravens, of the 4th quarter pick against the Chiefs? How about the OT miss fires? Save the Pittsburgh game, Fitz had a direct hand in all those losses. You can say he was why we were in the game. Why? Simply because up to the late picks, he had mostly done what a NFL QB should be able to do? Fitz played well in spurts, that was shown, but shine? I like Fitz, but mostly because he hasn't stunk as bad as the QB's since Bledsoe's first 8 games with Buffalo. I'll have to say "shine" in my book must be quite different than shine in your book. "Shine" would mean that Fitz made the throws to win against the Ravens, Bears, Chiefs, Piits......... Fitz may be our best option currently, but by no means is he a guy that lets you pass on a top QB in the draft. Lucky for Fitz, after Luck, they appear iffy.
  8. It's a shame that a voice of reason, thought, and intelligence will soon be drowned by the less endowed masses. Thanks for trying.
  9. Maybe, maybe not, but it seems like the best place to start. Our D is in serious need of talent. Start with the D line then LB's. Our front 7 are weak.
  10. As for the O-line this year, Rinehart looks like a depth guy at this point. Pears, could be gone if anything else shows up or Wrotto/Howard improve. The one O-line addition I liked was Urbik and of course, he got hurt. Healthy, he will add to the inside of the Bills line. Bell had a number of poor decisions today as to who to pick up and was beaten 3-4 times badly on outside blitzes. He showed that despite his progress, he still has work to do. Some of his poor decisions may have been avoided with Fitz making the line calls however. We still need a RT badly. I'm beginning to like the Dareus option (if available) to help the pass rush and D-line. Carrington will need to step his game up big time as he was stoned a number of times today. Troup, same as Carrington, and Troup was a bit disappointing in his rookie year. A solid if not great LB (Upshaw) would be nice addition as well. Yet, the QB position still needs major upgrade. The draft won't cure all the needs and with Nix's philosophy well stated before, it's not likely the Bills will make a splash in FA, except we may lose a few of ours, creating more holes in a team that simply can't afford any more. I don't believe Brohm had the best opportunity for his first start, but he did underwhelm today.
  11. What did Fitz mask last week against the Pats? 3 Ints, 2 fumbles is not a great day at the office. Brohm played terribly, but Fitz is "really good"? Say, are you interested in some prime real estate in southern Florida?
  12. Yes, it was an embarrassment.
  13. Darned Cinci had a third and goal from the 3 yard line and Palmer throws 2 crappy passes.....Cince should have won had Palmer not turned the ball over today (fumbles and Int for a TD).
  14. If you're out there Fez, chime in. Controlling of the chat room by having to be a registered user (TSW) seems like a positive step, but what else might be needed to get the TSW Chat Room the room of choice?
  15. Twitter may well be a valuable tool, but it certainly isn't when it comes to "tweets" (I admit I have a problem with that term) from athletes (or anyone) that truly are little more than infantile babble. As for hip or not, who cares? I'm at a point in my life where function heavily outweighs any cool factor. Whether one dislikes or loves Twitter, it is a personal choice that may well have nothing to do with 'hip" regardless of what side of this one falls on.
  16. With all the moves the FO has made for O-linemen (from PS squads, etc) and TE's a few weeks back, This FO has not been a sleep at the wheel. Good to see.
  17. Sick (bad) game..... The Bills made the Vike's defense, especially their front 7 look like they were All-Pros, each and every one of them.
  18. Having a problem with the Caps lock?
  19. Pugilism is not a good thing. Nor is missing the obviously "polite sarcastic" initial response from DC. In essence, he was agreeing with you yet you clearly missed that. To that note, most here would agree that while virtually all of our players are not elite, we do have key players who need to be retained/resigned or the rebuilding will never end. That we can all agree upon. Now, as for who stays, and who goes......
  20. Pretty weak assumption there, eh Sport? Jeez.....
  21. Cj lack of progress, production, and ball security are all legitimate concerns. Yet, your comments about Jackson are way off the mark. Jackson is a very skilled, tough runner, with vision, who basically only lacks real speed to be elite. Alas, Fred is no kid and may have only a year or two left in the tank. Has developed into a passable blocker, and prior to this year, he was very dependable receiver (for whatever reason, he's had a few too many drops this year). Fred has been a very good back the past couple years.
  22. Mularky was Donohoe's puppet and about the only thing he may have had a full hand in was firing Rusty Jones (our excellent former long term conditioning coach) and replacing him with Mularky's buddy. He also seemed to have a penchant for gimmick plays which rarely worked out for us. He got the fair end in the long run, he got the end that pushed him out the door. (Yes, he quit technically, but only after he was advised most of his staff was going to be replaced.)
  23. There has been much to like about Fitz. His fire, determination, desire, ability to process info quickly, all come to mind. Yet, despite excellent intangibles, he has too many turnovers, fumbles and/or Ints, and the biggest negative being a scatter shot arm in which every throw is an adventure. Sure he makes some darned nice throws, but he also is nearly equally capable of the wild throws as well. Consistently accurate simply is not part of Fitzpatrick's game. No matter how much I like the guy, I just can't get by this. Carrington, Troup, Maybin, and Brohm should all be full goes for our last game. The only purpose the last game has is for evaluations. As much as it hurts to say admit it, there exists much truth in this position. Spiller has turned out to be a major disappointment as a rookie. Maybe he'll become a Reggie Bush style player, but he does seem to have been a luxury pick that this team could not afford. Or defense is a shambles when it comes to the oppositions run game. Couple this with darned near zero pass rush.....
