....and as the best Punter in the league (or darned near).....he won't be without work for long.
-
Agree. Does JP Losman, Trent Edwards come to mind? Talk about brain locked......
-
Play on the old Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young song from back in the day........

Even if he was demoted, his background included coaching the LB's and we all know how well ours played this year. Yes, there was a serious talent deficiency once we got by Poz who I believe is above average. Edwards did not do the job, by any means of evaluation. He needs to go and someone who can run a defense be brought in.
-
While Poz may not be elite at this point, losing him would create another gaping hole. Whitner I would offer what the Bills have been reported to have offered and possibly some incentives, but that's it. Sign Poz, stand firm on Whitner.

If Cam Newton is there at 3

Concur, but I would also like to see Dareus considered as well as Fairley. -
While I've bashed Kelsay numerous times over the years, he's a far better player at DE than he was in experiment to have him play OLB. Overpaid? Maybe, but not one to be cut unless half the roster or more is let go, and that would be capitulation.

Notes from the O-line (from Buffalo Rumblings)
Spiderweb replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
John, I agree. Bell until the last couple games was playing very well. I believe what showed against the Jets Sunday was Fitz was missed more than just his throwing. Fitz make a lot of the line calls and there were 3-4 plays I recall where Bell ended up on a double team against the Jets end and the blizing CB came in totally free. Fitz likely would have seen that and changed his assignment to pick up the blitzing CB/Safety. Overall I'd give Bell higher grades in pass protection than run blocking but that's where he stands today. Bell is currently serviceable and I see a proficient LT for the Bills in Bell. He made giant steps this year over last, and I see no reason he won't improve further especially since his knee will only be stronger this coming year. -
Why Drafting A Franchise QB At #3 Is Important
Spiderweb replied to ohiotim's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cherry picked? Yeah, that what I did. There was a three game stretch with the Bills in every game in which Fitz had the very 4th quarter picks I referred to. How about Fitz's pick and three fumbles against the Vikes, or his three picks and two fumbles against the Pats. That's 5 games right there. How about Fitz's last 9 games, in which the Bills scored 20 or more point just once (Bengals)? If Fitz is to become a winning QB, all of this must improve. I'm sure with a little digging I could add more, but this is all highly visible and required no digging. Fitz would get us close, but then break our heart. Added: Heck, I like his fire, his intensity, his effort, etc. He surely helped make the Bills far more competitive, but no rose colored glasses here, he played a part in the losses, sometimes a considerable part. based on what the Bills have and what he did, yes, he is clearly our number 1, but I wouldn't stop looking for an upgrade to the QB position. -
Ralph already told you who we were drafting

While I don't agree with Chan, that is he thinks Fitz is the man, it's definitely true that Chan has Fitz' back and believes in him to run his offense. -
Come on hopeful, be sporting. Gailey said the pass protection was horrible, that the speed of a live game was more than Brohm was ready for in a single game, and that his decisions should have been quicker. He added that it wasn't due to preparation. He was prepared for what the Jets did. He praised Fitz for understanding the speed of the game and his. Brohm sounded unconscious. I could listen and stopped the vid.

Athletes are great, isn't Maybin just wonderful? Personally, I agree with Gailey/Nix, I'd like football players first.

Fine, so long as it's Luck. If not then DE (Dareus) in the first or possibly DT (Fairley). -
I believe Nix's hope is that Merriman will be able to go decently in 2011, thus adding a solid ( if not very good) OLB. This would make a DE (Dareus?) a solid pick with our first. That is unless The Bills brass is in awe of the performances of Duan Edwards and Marcus (I'm getting real long in the tooth") Stroud this year. Carrington make work out well, but he surely didn't show enough to rest the future on him alone.
-
As I mentioned before, a voice of reason....... (agree as well). Brohm stunk today, but as for writing him off on this performance alone? No, that would be simply a knee jerk reaction.

with the 3rd pick in the NFL Draft.....

Started, but too long and intended more for season ticket holders, not those who come in from out of town for a game or two a year.

Well said SDS, well said.

Brown threw the last pick, finishing 2 of 3 with a pick. Brohm was bad, but so was the O-line. One thing for sure though, and I'm not a big Fitz supporter, is that I believe Fitz would have made much better line calls to get the blocks needed more often than Brohm. In fact, I'd bet that Wood made the calls more than did Brohm. I don't believe Brohm was any where near ready for the speed (as Gailey said in the post game). No apologies, no excuses, Brohm stunk today, but how well did Fitz do last week? I must have missed something, as I thought he had 5 turnovers all by himself.

Beastmode finished the year with 662 yards between Buff and Sea, at 3.6 yards per carry. Our Fred Jackson finished with 927 yards, at 4.2 per carry. Easily would have had 1000 plus had Jackson not lost PT with the Lynch Spiller combo the first 4 games this year. In those first 4 games, Fred got 20 carries combined for 87 yards total. Good luck to Lynch.....his team will need it.

Hummm, did you miss last weeks game or the first game against the Pats with two 4th quarter picks, or the quarter picks against the Ravens, of the 4th quarter pick against the Chiefs? How about the OT miss fires? Save the Pittsburgh game, Fitz had a direct hand in all those losses. You can say he was why we were in the game. Why? Simply because up to the late picks, he had mostly done what a NFL QB should be able to do? Fitz played well in spurts, that was shown, but shine? I like Fitz, but mostly because he hasn't stunk as bad as the QB's since Bledsoe's first 8 games with Buffalo. I'll have to say "shine" in my book must be quite different than shine in your book. "Shine" would mean that Fitz made the throws to win against the Ravens, Bears, Chiefs, Piits......... Fitz may be our best option currently, but by no means is he a guy that lets you pass on a top QB in the draft. Lucky for Fitz, after Luck, they appear iffy. -
Short.

It's a shame that a voice of reason, thought, and intelligence will soon be drowned by the less endowed masses. Thanks for trying.

For those who want to go all defense in the draft...
Spiderweb replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe, maybe not, but it seems like the best place to start. Our D is in serious need of talent. Start with the D line then LB's. Our front 7 are weak.
