They should have beat the Browns. Heck, they should have beat KC. Lots of should, not lots of wins - see a pattern here? I don't care how much the Bills SHOULD win against teams we think we are worse than Buffalo, it doesn't happen - there's always a fly in the oitment - almost no sure win with this team, especially when on the road. What's funny is that after another loss and probably after 2 more losses someone will still be posting how the Bills can still make it to the playoffs ("First, the NE Patriots plane crashes - they all die...."). Look - on paper the Bills should have a better record over the latter part of the season - I'll buy into that. But with 7 games to go and having to run the table to have a shot I like Jim Mora's classic take on it - at least it gives me a chuckle....

This clip is always relevant every year on this board about this time - someone always tries to figure out how all the stars in the universe could possible come together so the Bills make the playoffs - it never happens and usually we are just concentrating on winning the next game.
-
I still think the Bills will have a few more of those "Coulda Shoulda Woulda" games - games that really should be wins but are losses - we've had a bunch of them so far and I think there are more coming.

They don't call Buffalo the City of Good Neighbors for nothing!

I hear the Raider fans are terrible - they have to live up to their rep. I know a Pats fan who went to a game in Oakland and was warned not to wear Pats colors but he was wearing blue, got into an argument with some tailgaters and ended up being branded with a hot poker from a hot grill...no thanks, I'll watch from home.

You must be this tall to have beer spilled on you? -
Using GPS on your phone is the same as using one the small dedicated GPS units you can get (Garmin, Tom Tom, etc.) - I have a windshield mount for my phone. Traffic, accidents, cops all show up on the maps as icons - not distracting (I also have voice alerts set so as I approach a cop I get a verbal notification). Reporting conditions is easy and can be done verbally - no need to take your hands off the wheel. Right now Waze is stand alone, but I noticed when I last used Google maps there was a icon for an accident and when I tapped it it said accident reported by Waze user, so they are doing some level of integration at this point.

Waze - GPS with crowd-sourced road conditions. Love the idea of an app that can tell you the best way to go and give current road conditions based on others uses actually making reports. I use this every day on my 35 mile commute. I get rerouted when there's bad traffic. Best of all, I get warned a few tenths of a mile before I pass a cop, so it's like having a radar detector as well. Love the app and can see why Google bought them for a billion dollars a few months back....

When were you most wrong on a player?

RJ - talk about a battle of the measurables vs. the intangibles - RJ was a big athletic guy with a big arm, Flutie was a little guy who had heart and just knew how to get it done. I was convinced RJ was going to be the guy and was kind of ticked every time he lost snaps to Flutie. John McCargo - I kept thinking that eventually he's play up to his draft status, but the years went by and the guy never did a thing. Non Bill - Tom Brady - when the NE backup came in for an injured Bledsoe I thought he'd get killed and NE would take a dive - couldn't have been happier seeing them without their starting QB and having to ride a late round draft pick. I can't stand Brady, but even his biggest haters have to admit he's a 1st ballot hall of famer..... -

When they came back after halftime it looked like one of the replacement player games - nobody was there - you'd have thought the Fins were being blown out.... -
Did the ST coach call for a returnable kick
The Avenger replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A kick to the goal line in that situation should ABSOLUTELY be considered a bad play and a horrible call in that situation. You don't leave any window open for a big return - if any team knows that the hard way it's the Bills - they're still talking about that run back in Nashville. You do the safe and sure thing - you kick it out of the back of the end zone and make them earn the yards, with no timeouts, to make the field goal - you don't give them ANY chance of getting anything on the return. Any play besides kicking it out of the end zone is reckless, asinine and should be grounds for having to find another job - period. -
South Park misses deadline due to power outage

I was wondering what happened - the opening said 4th grade, and then they started talking about Scott Tenorman and the goth kids were nowhere in sight.... -
Excellent point. If you don't believe Tuel could be the guy to fill in when there's an injury it's wreckless and negligent that you're so unprepared for this happening - QBs go down all the time - it should not be a surprise that this situation happened.

It's all a big publicity stunt for the new movie Major League III - where the Cleveland FOOTBALL team purposely tries to lose to reduce stadium attendance so they can move to a warmer climate...

I just started and finished watching Breaking Bad
The Avenger replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Best part was that I missed virtually none of the Sunday Night game - I turned away to watch Breaking Bad and when I came back the game was restarting after a perfectly-timed weather delay - even the Man in Charge is a Breaking Bad fan.... -
Somewhere Jack Black is making millions off of this and Ben Stiller can't believe he missed out on it...

In general I thought the lack of calls along the line was pretty surprising - nothing was getting called even when it was blatent. To be fair, I saw it go both ways - I saw some really blatent holds on Wilfork that went uncalled as well (and trust me - I hate that guy). I was really expecting things to be more tightly called but they weren't. They say you could pretty much call holding on any given play - I think they only way the Bills got screwed is if NE was holding far more than the Bills and I don't think that happened - I'm guessing the non-calls probably evened out.

Goodwin and Brooks to miss time after Surgery.

Wow - we are rapidly approaching when the the Bills will have a contest to see which lucky fan goes from the parking lot to the game field as a starting cornerback... -
Right now I'm reading a great book on this subject - "The Panic Virus" by Seth Mnookin. This is a topic that really gets my blood boiling. My son has a serious congenital heart defect - things that might make other kids very sick could kill my son. I do my part to vaccinate hime against everything, and the whole family gets flu shots every year. Unfortuantely, part of keeping any community as safe as possible is for EVERYONE to do their part. When others buy into all this crap it puts kids like my son at risk. What's amazing to me is that often times the people who buy into this junk are very educated people - we're not talking about folks with 80 IQ's. There has never been any solid science behind any of these crazy theories - to the contrary they have ALL come down on the side of vaccines. The only way you can brush off the scientific facts are to call into question science itself - you have to believe that on some level there is a huge conspiracy between the government, the AMA, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the pharmaceutical industry to vaccinate people for some sort of ulterior motive - profit, control, etc. - hard to believe that anyone would believe any of that instead of solid, peer-reviewed science....

This place grew out of the demise of the D&C board. The D&C couldn't keep it moderated, so it went to hell and they shut it down - and a little birdie suggested to Scott that he create a board in its place.
