  1. I'm dying to see how good of a QB Losman will be, but hopefull as I may be I do have to remember that the current Bills regime has failed terribly at talent evaluation in the past few years. At this point everyone is pinning all their hopes on the Bills getting better via Losman, Evans and McGahee, but what happens if they join a long line of guys who are more hype than substance? I don't want these guys to be busts, but I don't think anyone's preparing for that possibility and that scares me.
  2. As soon as they scored and the bar was still roaring with cheers I turned to a friend of mine and said that they'd scored too early. He agreed. I told him that the Jets would score and we'd desperately try and score with the clock running out and somewhere we'd take a killer sack on the last drive - all of which happened. It would be spooky if it wasn't so damn predictable.
  3. The secondary will almost always take a B word slapping when you blitz and don't get to the quarterback. That's our problem - we blitz all the time and don't get there, leaving the secondary open to the big play. We need a better pass rush or we need to stop blitzing and try and play coverage.
  4. Great stuff, PIA! I love to see people with creative talent step up and do something fun about the Bills.
  5. Unless TE's are a major source of points in your league, I don't see why you'd trade a highly rated RB for one. I know you have depth at the position, but you must be able to get more for Fred than a TE.
  6. Hey - no problem - everyone is entitled to the opinion. When I write I give my opinion but I know there are plenty who disagree with me (trust me - I get my share of hate mail). Like I said, I'm just happy people take the time to read what I write and think enough to form an opinion. I don't think I'm ready to call for Mularkey to go - 3 games isn't any sort of time to pass judgement. I am concerned that we've been here before - a young coach who is learning on the job and talks a good game about discipline but the mistakes continue week after week. I am disappointed that we didn't go with an experienced guy (I know - not many were available) because where we are is where I feared we'd be. Donahoe has had time to prove himself and he's really failed where it matters most - personnel decisions. That's not based only on 3 losses this season, its based on his losing record over his entire tenure in Buffalo. I don't advocate firing him now, in the midst of the season, but I do think the lack of results to this point shows that we need to head in another direction at the end of the year. Donahoe's done some good things (we did get out of a bad cap situation and the acquisition of Bledsoe and Milloy got fans energized and buying tickets), but the bottom line is that we are not where we should be and the job is not getting done. I don't know about you, but where I work if I make bad personnel decisions and don't get the job done I get fired - I don't see why Donahoe's situation should be any different. We'll see how the rest of the season plays out (hopefully a bunch of W's), but it's going to take an incredible amount of good to outweigh the bad in Donahoe's overall record - I don't think it'll happen and I think the Bills will need to go in a different direction.
  7. Wow - just trying to be a bit light and add an ounce of humor and I guess you missed it. I'm not trying to be a serious journalist - if I was it would be my full time job and I'd be expecting someone to pay me (I'd also expect much better access to the team). Understand that you're reading an opinion piece, not "journalism".
  8. What do you mean who's Tony Bogyo? I'm (er, I mean, he's) famous! Kidding aside, I'm just a Bills fan like anyone else. Some people enjoy airing their views on boards like TBD (I post from time to time), others like to write a weekly column for a site like Bills Daily. Whether you agree with me or not I appreciate everyone who takes the time to read what I have to say. I enjoy writing and I hope people enjoy reading.
  9. #62 - When a Stranger Calls Should have been much higher on the list. You're already freaked out that this creepy guy is making calls to a babysitter all alone, but when you find out the calls are coming from inside the house and Carol Kane runs to the door to get out and opens it to find a cop standing right there your heart skips multiple beats! Also very scary is the scene from the same movie when Carol Kane gets into bed with her husband but it's really the killer. If you haven't seen this movie you should check it out - a hidden gem classic!
  10. The Naked Lunch A movie partly about the William S. Burroughs novel, partly about the author himself. Strangest damn movie I've ever seen. They guy was definitely on drugs - typwriters that turn into bugs and fight at night, a typewriter that's an alien head and dispenses mind-altering goo, sniffing bug powder - man, that was a crazy movie.
  11. What will I say? I'll say somthing like, "Gee - what was the number of that truck/train/elephant that hit me at high speed and sent me to the hereafter? I seem to have ended up in heaven or in Bizzaro World where a bad team like the Bills can defeat a good team like the Pats". Pats coming off a bye? It'll never happen. Remember - for everyone talking about how this is an improved team/playoff team we dropped two games that we had to win. The competition gets tougher than Jacksonville and the Raiders, folks - the Pats will show that. How I wish it was different, but it's just not gonna happen - prepare for it now rather than go crazy wondering why we didn't pull out a miracle win next Sunday.
  12. In the words of Spinal Tap - "Yeah. I wouldn't worry about it though, it's not a big college town".
  13. Ah yes, the birth of The Wall - I remember it well. Scott's put his heart and soul into this place - it's amazing how much time he spent single-handly running it in the early days. Fortunately it's proven to be its own vibrant community that still thrives today. Whoever thought up this place is a genius!
  14. My bad - I saw Losman and figured it was the top 3 rookies who were drafted to model the gear. Milloy and Campbell are OK, but Losman looks like he really does not want to be there. When you're a first round QB I guess you have to be the face of the team whether you like it or not.
  15. Just got my Bills Pro Shop catalog in the mail this afternoon with JP Losman, Lee Evans and Tim Anderson(?) modeling all sorts of Bills gear. Losman is not a model - he looks completely stoned! Reminds me of the kid who pumps gas just to have enough money to buy new video games - a complete slacker. If you get a chance to look at the catalog it's worth it - those are some terrible pictures!
  16. Hello pot, this is kettle.... As I recall, you used this very forum to blast my Bills Daily article last week - you said I was negative, questioned if I was a fan and said that I was a bandwagoner. I don't normally kick people when they're down, but this post takes the cake when it comes to hypocracy. Contrary to your post last week, I AM a real fan. A fan who can see that this team is not any better than last year. You slam me for that and tell me I'm a bandwagoner and then become a Lions fan after week 2? You have some serious cojones - I hope they get caught in some heavy machinery :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:
  17. Gregg Williams? Try Jerry Jones - he's sitting back laughing harder and harder everytime we lose - it makes his first round draft pick from us better and better...
  18. Easy there - you're going to hurt yourself with all your ranting. I don't think there's a Bills fan out there who routes against this team. Everyone wants to see this team win and be successful. We'd all be happier than anyone if we dominated all our opponents and took home the Lombardi trophy. We do, however, have the right to fail to praise the team for their shortcomings and to question how good a team this really is. I for one will not sit there fat dumb and happy telling myself how great this team is and how we are going to the playoffs out of some twisted sense of loyalty to the team. I was at the game on Sunday and I cheered so loud I went hoarse. I bought pletny of Bills merchandise in addition to the ticket - I support my team. The fact of the matter is that we do have some issues on this team. Yes it's only game one, but I didn't see anything that showed me this is a dominant team. We didn't move the ball that well, we didn't put up points at home and in the red zone, all our points were setup by turnovers, we failed to hit a reasonable field goal, and the defense failed their biggest challenge - stopping an 80-yard TD drive with 2:00 on the clock. To make it abundantly clear - WE LOST. They don't award you a win or even half a win because the fans felt we played a good game and that we are a playoff team. You have to earn wins by scoring more points than the other guys and we didn't do that on Sunday. Keep calling me the devil if you will, and I'll call you a pollyanna. This team has a real shot at going 0-3 through the first four weeks of the season. I'll be the happiest guy if we go on a winning streak and go to the playoffs - I'm routing for it - but you have no right to question my support for this team simply because I don't blindly follow them and see everything through rose-colored glasses. It's our duty as fans to support the team, even if that support means questioning the team and advocating changes to make them a stronger club.
  19. Actually, the drive after the interception started on the Jax 3 and we gained a yard each time we ran. I really think that we should have been able to pound the ball in or run some sort of play to the outside. The pass was a bad call. Swirling Ralph Wilson Stadium Winds? I was there and based on the streamers on the uprights wind was not a factor. Lindell missed the damn kick after a good snap and a good hold - it's just that simple. Wind did not factor into the miss.
  20. That was the longest play of the game but the pass was a short pass that became 27 yards due to YAC, not because it was a long pass ply to stretch a defense.
  21. I don't want 80 or even 77 - too damn hot! The opener 2 years ago was brutal - so hot that they ran out of water at the stadium (water outsold beer by something like 10-1). 70 would be decent weather for fans and players alike - nobody gets heat exhaustion.
  22. -New coaches - reason to be excited - THIS time we got someone organized who knows what he's doing and the coaching is going to bring out the talent we have on this squad. -Finally, a solid #2 WR to play opposite Moulds. Peerless who? -Top defense - these guys will anchor a season where we win the AFC East -I know the line is a bit shaky now and we don't have any real superstars, but they will play well as a unit - McNally will get the best out of them. Heard any/all of this before in years past? Me too, and I'm tired of being burned for being so optimistic. I don't think we go any better than 7-9. This is not a playoff team. I'd love to be proven wrong, but so much unrealized optimism in the past few years has brought nothing but heartache - better to be pleasantly surprised down the road than bitterly disappointed.
  23. I saw them in Tokyo on the same tour - 1998. I was there on a business trip and actually took a client to the show (he had a great time). It was very odd being one of the few non Japanese people there. Being an english speaker (and huge Metallica fan) I was able to sing along with all the songs but the crowd wasn't. When they played "The Memory Remains" the crowd broke into a thunderous set of "Da-Da-Das" when the Marianne Faithfull part kicked in - the only words the Japanese could sing! What was really funny was the aftershow experience. Everyone neatly filed out of the arena (actually an olympic swimming arena - they covered the pool for the floor) and got on their trains. 30 minutes after the show nobody was there! A far cry from the drinking/smoking/fighting/firestarting that happens after Metallica shows here in the U.S. I've seen Metallica more than 20 times and in 3 countries - can't wait to see them in a fourth. I have tickets in October for Boston - can't wait!
