  1. His dad's a professional arm wrestler with something like 17 world titles. I remember an ESPN feature on him before the draft. I was hoping we'd pick him up late.
  2. 30 yr old downhill runstuffing MLB cut by the Texans. Beane had interest in him a few years back as a free agent. Apparently he is pals with Poyer and Hyde. These are his numbers from last year: 124 tackles, 3 sacks, 7 TFL, 7 QB hits, 2 INT I pulled all that from what others said in another thread. Most feel he would be at least a solid floor to a position that currently is causing a lot of angst.
  3. The guys we got now are comfortably bad. They need to upgrade if they can and I think they will.
  4. You invite a hippie over to play qb and everyone starts getting petulant . . . and the munchies.
  5. I agree, but I liked him better when I thought his name was Van Denmark.
  6. I suppose wit is idiosyncratic. Guffaw away if that pleases you.
  7. Upthread, someone proposed that the Texans might want a veteran presence to nurture their first round pick. It wasn't utterly ridiculous, though I agree that trading Mills would be a foolish act. Your response, however, implies that what was intended mostly as a joke on my part is simply an asinine assertion. I'll try to remember that you disfavor frivolity next time I consider answering anything you post.
  8. Don't give them any ideas.
  9. Yes, but we are discussing what would be best for us, not what is rational for the Texans.
  10. There's a thread in the Off the Wall forum for "phrases you hate." We've identified a number of them. Indeed, I may have to imbibe a Guinness or two to mollify the soul and forestall an attack of misanthropic exasperation.
  11. Disappointing, just like his play.
  12. Colloquial association with gender specific anatomy.
  13. They really probably ought to do that anyway, but good point.
  14. Don't forget the obligatory "Super bowl!" salute every time some scrub that adds to the back end of the roster is signed. It might just barely have registered as humorous the first time.
  15. It should be a warning to all.
  16. I think Carolina has to claim him and release him before we are allowed to have a shot.
  17. If by any chance the Texans are vacillating on who to keep, trade for Mills. I'd rather have Mills and we want Keenum to stick.
  18. McDuffie's short arms would make him an outlier for the metric that appears to be part of what Beane and McD look for in a corner. Doubt he was their choice. @GunnerBill has talked about this numerous times.
  19. I surmise you are comfortable paying Taylor an exceptional amount of coin for a RB. How do you propose fitting him under the cap? MLB, OT, QB2, (WR2, imo, but nothing will be done there), are still positions that appear to need upgrading with significantly more urgency. RB actually seems to be one of the positions with pretty good depth. I understand the argument about Taylor as elite. In today's game, elite RB rarely moves the needle. Would Taylor? Perhaps, but it's an academic dispute, regardless. It would be shocking if Beane were at all interested in such a move, especially considering cost in draft capital and percentage of the cap required to make it happen. I also think Cook can carry more of the burden than you suppose, though the idea that he is more suited to be a change of pace back is a popular one.
  20. Do they still have that pick?
  21. Lots of folks get exasperated when Dorsey seems to continually dial up the long ball. Now it's quite possible that Allen's elbow contributed to that proclivity. This season should clarify if that was a significant factor, or if always giving a priority to the deep shot is indeed a "feature" and not a "bug." For certain, if you start with the premise that you have to reject the deep shot before "settling" for something else, the quick hitter will never effectively be incorporated into your offense. I suspect that Kincaid will emerge as a consistent threat from the slot which should of itself diversify the approach.
  22. Kincaid drew two defensive penalties. I am pretty sure they are keeping some of what Kincaid will do under wraps.
  23. I dunno, maybe you're talking into your phone. First sentence needs a missing number. I infer turned for turnver. There, not thier, receiver, not reciever. Sloppy grammar and spelling does not obviate a point, but it is distracting and bad form. Naturally, RZ issues are a different matter. One can only hope that a strengthened IOL, some power RBs, and 12 personnel will propel Dorsey to be more creative in the tight spaces and yield better results. The flow of an offense is more than yards gained. I maintain that you put a defense back on its heels when you are both potent and less predictable. That may, indeed, actually affect RZ efficiency. You are free to think otherwise.
  24. G Men outgained the Jests 209 to 80 at the half.
  25. No one is asking Allen to ignore his super powers or to stop the daring that can result in extraordinary plays. None of that contradicts the fact that the Bills are a much more lethal offense when they take advantage of the easy, available yards. If you are always going for the long ball, you become much more predictable, whilst relying on lower percentage plays. Surely, this is obvious.
