  1. I think you are in the minority regarding his qb ability. Time will tell if you are right.
  2. I really don't see how you have concluded Darnold is a "game manager" qb. I don't mind Rosen, but Darnold has a higher ceiling, more durability, and I think a relatively high floor.
  3. What would be even better is if the Bills could trade up to 2 and draft Sam Darnold.
  4. Racial issues are always sensitive and difficult. It was a dopey comment and now Allen will have to go out of his way to show he is a decent fella, but bottom line is he was a kid and someone with ulterior motives is exploiting the situation. It's unfortunate. This is what you said about Sony Michel's bone on bone issue being brought up just now: "Yeah night before the draft leaks start, sabatoging starts. Worst part of this process." No doubt, there is a big difference between a health problem and unpleasant immaturity, but the underlying rationale for why it is out there remains the same. The perpetrators of the initial act ought not to be rewarded and some commonsense forgiveness of youthful indiscretion (this means allowing for the likelihood that the fella isn't a closet Klan member) should be the default position.
  5. It's really loathsome the way individuals are subjected to malicious hyperscrutiny if it happens to somehow result in advantage for someone else. Happens in politics, sports, private life. Our technology has led to a deep level of corruption that utterly lacks compassion or common decency.
  6. Right, but as you know it is practically the only path to get a franchise qb . . . I will be thrilled if the end result of all this is Darnold in Buffalo.
  7. What is the putative price, exactly? I really like Darnold.
  8. Well, Darnold is my favorite, but it's unlikely we will have a shot at him. If Beane thinks Allen needs two years, I don't think he will be considered.
  9. Then you only want Rosen or Mayfield. Everyone else needs time to develop. I think that's very short-sighted.
  10. Why can't he sit behind McCarron for a year? We're not going to the Super Bowl next year.
  11. Shouldn't this be in the politics forum?
  12. By using "we" collectively, I think you are giving more credit than is due. Certainly you don't really mean that all the Allen critics are thoroughly informed . . . in any event, you are welcome to your interpretation. I believe one can conclude differently regarding Allen's potential without being judged uninformed or foolish.
  13. I think it's because a lot of folks who bash Allen focus on completion percentage.
  14. If they stick at 12, Jackson and Rudolph are likely the only ones available. Personally, I'm not fine with that.
  15. Another fella ranked the qbs 1 - 6. The only one I agreed with was Jackson at 5. I am more of a gambler. I do think Mayfield and Rosen right now are the best qbs, so I am guessing at plausible potential, right or wrong.
  16. That's fine. We all have our opinions and individual modes of evaluation. I don't claim to be an expert. I really want Darnold, but I think Allen is going to be good. I worry about Rosen's injury history and lack of pocket presence. It's not ridiculous, however, to think Rosen will end up the best of the bunch.
  17. Unless he ends up with the Pats* per impossible. Then, sorry fella, but it has to be an epic fail
  18. Lot of presumptuous know-it-alls chiming in. If it was so manifestly self-evident that Allen was doomed to fail, professionals would not be considering Allen at the top of the draft. One has to trust that there are credible intellects evaluating much more comprehensive information than any of us have. For example, I don't like Rudolph. I'll be mad if we pick him. I don't see a high ceiling on the fella. Nonetheless, I'll hope I am wrong and root for him to be good if he ends up a Buffalo Bill.
  19. I have Allen rated above Rosen based on what I consider plausible potential (i.e., not unrealistic expectations for Allen) and concerns over Rosen's durability. So I would be fine with it. Darnold is my top rated fella, though any of the top 4 is okay with me.
  20. I'm going to keep hope alive, even if it's a flickering candle.
  21. I'm not convinced 2 is utterly out of play. 4 may also be available. Three teams may be involved. A lot will be determined by who the Browns end up taking at 1. If Browns pass on Darnold and the Giants decide not to go qb, I think the Bills have a strong offer set to go.
  22. If it's going to happen, they will have set up the groundwork for such a trade so it won't be a mad scramble when Giants are on the clock.
  23. I actually don't mind Darnold. He seems down to earth. I like Westerns and his grandfather was the Marlboro man, so he can't be all bad. I think he's going 1 overall. I buy the argument that Allen's inaccuracy is somewhat exaggerated and that he was often taking low percentage shots downfield with less than stellar receivers. Folks like to say, so what, he had bad receivers but they went up against low caliber players in his conference. Well, that doesn't really matter if your poor receivers keep dropping your passes. Regardless, I think Allen and Mayfield bring an edge we need. Allen is the "long play." I hope we have the guts and foresight to make it happen.
