HERE WE GO! GIANTS looking to TRADE DOWN
Dr. Who replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It should blow over if common sense comes into play. If Allen drops because of the twitter thing, the organization that leaked it wins and I don't think that ought to be rewarded. -

Really depressing. We will be fighting to get the fourth of the top 4. I like Allen, however, so I wouldn't be angry unless we miss out on all of them. -

I would take Darnold at 2 if Browns do not choose him. I hope that is the play if we trade up that high. -
Definitely a Browns' fan.

Darnold is not nearly as polished as Rosen right now. If you think his issues are correctable (I do,) one could counter that Darnold is creative and skilled when the pocket breaks down -- which it frequently does in the pros. Rosen is great if you can keep him upright in a clean pocket. He's tough, too, but has poor pocket awareness and an injury history that puts his durability into question.

I think you are in the minority regarding his qb ability. Time will tell if you are right.
-
I really don't see how you have concluded Darnold is a "game manager" qb. I don't mind Rosen, but Darnold has a higher ceiling, more durability, and I think a relatively high floor.

Allbright: "It's Darnold" UPDATE: He admits he was wrong

What would be even better is if the Bills could trade up to 2 and draft Sam Darnold. -
Is it fair to judge Josh Allen based on tweets?

Racial issues are always sensitive and difficult. It was a dopey comment and now Allen will have to go out of his way to show he is a decent fella, but bottom line is he was a kid and someone with ulterior motives is exploiting the situation. It's unfortunate. This is what you said about Sony Michel's bone on bone issue being brought up just now: "Yeah night before the draft leaks start, sabatoging starts. Worst part of this process." No doubt, there is a big difference between a health problem and unpleasant immaturity, but the underlying rationale for why it is out there remains the same. The perpetrators of the initial act ought not to be rewarded and some commonsense forgiveness of youthful indiscretion (this means allowing for the likelihood that the fella isn't a closet Klan member) should be the default position. -
Right, but as you know it is practically the only path to get a franchise qb . . . I will be thrilled if the end result of all this is Darnold in Buffalo.

What is the putative price, exactly? I really like Darnold.

Interesting Take From QB Guru on Allen

Well, Darnold is my favorite, but it's unlikely we will have a shot at him. If Beane thinks Allen needs two years, I don't think he will be considered. -

Then you only want Rosen or Mayfield. Everyone else needs time to develop. I think that's very short-sighted. -

Why can't he sit behind McCarron for a year? We're not going to the Super Bowl next year. -
Shouldn't this be in the politics forum?

By using "we" collectively, I think you are giving more credit than is due. Certainly you don't really mean that all the Allen critics are thoroughly informed . . . in any event, you are welcome to your interpretation. I believe one can conclude differently regarding Allen's potential without being judged uninformed or foolish. -

I think it's because a lot of folks who bash Allen focus on completion percentage. -
That's fine. We all have our opinions and individual modes of evaluation. I don't claim to be an expert. I really want Darnold, but I think Allen is going to be good. I worry about Rosen's injury history and lack of pocket presence. It's not ridiculous, however, to think Rosen will end up the best of the bunch.

Lot of presumptuous know-it-alls chiming in. If it was so manifestly self-evident that Allen was doomed to fail, professionals would not be considering Allen at the top of the draft. One has to trust that there are credible intellects evaluating much more comprehensive information than any of us have. For example, I don't like Rudolph. I'll be mad if we pick him. I don't see a high ceiling on the fella. Nonetheless, I'll hope I am wrong and root for him to be good if he ends up a Buffalo Bill.
