  1. If it's going to happen, they will have set up the groundwork for such a trade so it won't be a mad scramble when Giants are on the clock.
  2. I actually don't mind Darnold. He seems down to earth. I like Westerns and his grandfather was the Marlboro man, so he can't be all bad. I think he's going 1 overall. I buy the argument that Allen's inaccuracy is somewhat exaggerated and that he was often taking low percentage shots downfield with less than stellar receivers. Folks like to say, so what, he had bad receivers but they went up against low caliber players in his conference. Well, that doesn't really matter if your poor receivers keep dropping your passes. Regardless, I think Allen and Mayfield bring an edge we need. Allen is the "long play." I hope we have the guts and foresight to make it happen.
  3. Nobody really knows. You're a cool fella, wrong or right, so don't sweat it.
  4. Durability is my main concern with Rosen, though I would be happy with any of the top four.
  5. Allen could go 1, Mayfield 3. I don't see Rosen in the discussion at 1. He may be considered at 3. I would guess Rosen because I think he is most likely to be avaliable at 5, though unlike many on this board, I prefer Allen and Mayfield.
  6. I will be happy unless they passed on Darnold to take him. Those who want to throw a tantrum are welcome to. I plan on throwing a tantrum if Rudolph is picked.
  7. If they like Darnold (or someone else) much more than the others, they will trade up high if they can and that will be expensive. Otherwise, a trade to 6 ought to garner one of the top 4. I think Jackson is there at 12. I like Darnold and Allen best and would trade up for either. Trading up for Allen in particular is an unpopular position, of course. It's potentially a regime risking decision. The flip is if you hit, you're in cotton for a decade or more.
  8. I took "tough to hear" as meaning "regrettable, but likely true." One has to hope Dabol and Culley are legit, though there isn't a lot to foster optimism.
  9. I agree, but the post you respond to is one of those who thinks because all the top qbs have flaws, one can be indifferent as to which of them one ends up with.
  10. I rarely agree with you. This may be a sign of the Apocalypse, not sure . . .
  11. 362154 . . . Jackson is the only one where we have agreement. Maybe you should move him to 6 just for giggles.
  12. DIdn't think this was funny the first time or the twentieth time. Strangely, around the fiftieth time, it's starting to be funny.
  13. I like Mayfield, but you make a plausible argument. I personally prefer Darnold and Allen above the others. I am worried about Rosen's durability. He is the most polished, but I don't think his ceiling is as high as Darnold or Allen. Allen is more of a risk and will take longer to develop. Some wonder if we have the coaches to develop a qb. I don't know, but you've got to hope we do. I think you have to get to 1 or 2 to get Darnold. Allen might fall to 5. I think Rosen the most likely to be available there.
  14. I'm going to start drinking now . . .
  15. Please stop. I'm trying to resign myself to disappointment. OTOH, please be true
  16. Switch Mayfield and Rosen and that is my order. Hope we trade up to 2 for Darnold or Allen. Too bad majority of this board is convinced Allen is already a bust.
  17. Darnold and Allen are my first two choices. I would like to trade up to 2 in order to secure whoever the Browns pass on. Unfortunately, unlikely to happen.
  18. Maybe Mason would be a top 3 qb in an ordinary draft. Typically, there are only 1 or 2 worthy of consideration in the 1st. I think Andy Dalton is his ceiling, so not a fan. It's possible one or two of the big 4 drop, but I prefer not to take that chance. A move to 6 or 7 is probably the sweet spot, as you suggest.
  19. Unlikely they are four failed qbs. If you are waiting for a can't miss, perfect qb, you are going to wait a long, long time. And even then, unless you are picking 1 overall, you will wait forever. Historically, top of the draft has a 50% hit rate for qb. It's considerably lower later on. This is potentially a very strong qb draft. Bills set themselves up to take a shot and it's time to do so. Radical pessimism about the position is a prescription for continual irrelevancy.
  20. They passed on Watson and Mahomes, traded players to acquire draft capital for an unusually deep draft for qb at the top. It sure as hell is a failure if they get frozen out on a top qb prospect.
  21. If we can get to 2, we should do it. I'm not yet convinced the Giants are stuck at 2. Further, if they aren't taking a qb themselves, I cannot really fathom a choice that would justify rejecting what they are likely to get back for the pick.
  22. I'm gonna laugh if Lauletta gets picked before Mason Rudolph.
  23. So much smoke it's actually fog.
  24. No way I offer more than 12 and 22 for 5 to start. I might expect 12, 22, and 53 to be the price, but opening bid has to be lower than you expect to pay.
