Boomers: Does Derrick Henry remind you of Cookie Gilchrist?
Dr. Who replied to John Gianelli's topic in The Stadium Wall
Way before my time, of course, but if you want to pair tough runner with perfect names for the golden age of football, its hard to beat Bronko Nagurski and Cookie. -
I agree with this, though there is the semi-plausible argument that lots of holds go uncalled all the time. So what is the criteria, especially eggregious? It doesn't seem to be uniformly applied, as your example on the Henry TD points out. Bills had 14 points erased by penalty, Titans had 7 awarded by lack of a call.

You know the best way to win multiple SBs when the window is open for you? Make sure you take your shot at the first one when the planets have alligned for you.

I don't either, but it won't be a neutral field for the AFC games. Getting home field is the penultimate aim. Baltimore already has wins against the Chiefs, Colts, and Lions that could easily have gone the other way (the Lions got jobbed on the uncalled delay of game penalty). Those are Ws, in contrast with one score differential games we lost already that probably should have been won. Slim margins at the top.

Fella went out of his way to publicize his political commitments and to cast shade on those who hold differing opinions. Then he does something like this which is only the last in a long litany of bad behavior and folks are going to get irritated by the taint of PPP in a thread? It's a terrible situation and I'm sorry for everyone involved, but it's not ridiculous to question what the hell was going on.

Public hearings coming on future Buffalo stadium
Dr. Who replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
You Brits don't have a monopoly on genius. We had a congressman here in Georgia who thought that an island might be sinking because of the weight of added military folk on an army base. -
Personally, I'm good with playing this style of hockey, developing the younger players, and ending up with a top three pick.

I'm not sure your view is that far different from a hope they can "reset the toxic culture."

Sherlock Holmes is Jabba the Hut over there, which was his original handle on the defunct BB board. There are a few others who changed their name on the other site, I think.

I'm wondering why we had back-to-back away games against the Titans. Don't they usually rotate these things? Regardless, Vrabel is good at game planning these ugly wins for his team. I'm most disappointed there was no pressure on Tannehill. We loaded up to stop the run, but probably should have kept at least one of Epenesa or Basham active.

I vaguely recollect reading something that connected the two, but it's probably nothing.

I am not sure on this, but I think he changed his handle to Deranged Rhino awhile back and now posts on another Bills' board.

Me, too. I hope he's well.

I agree, but after ten years a lot of Sabres' fans are neuralgic about the p word.

Can't wait until the Bills offense finally starts clicking
Dr. Who replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seems to me the fan base is very aware. Josh started slow, the oline was a hot mess early, and there have been some bad weather games that I don't think are conducive to optimum passing stats. KC game, we went for big chunk plays and it worked. You can have a lower completion percentage when you're getting over 20 yards a completion (ridiculous). McD wants the team to build towards peaking in the playoffs (I'm sure you know.) -
I'm not really sure what the prudent action is. The threat of blackmail and control seems real enough. As a society, the line between public and private has been blurred by social media. The effect has been deleterious in most cases. And now the arbiters of what constitutes righteous behavior are just aching to turn this into an expose of toxic masculinity and the nefarious "NFL culture."

I think Hapless is correct that there are some flaws in the argument, but the basic point regarding the drastic gameplan reversal of tendencies is persuasive. I can't help laughing at the utterly superficial yukyuks provided by the announcers over the "whose the qb play" on the Chief's first td when the whole night was a powerfully effective strategy of countering expectations on the part of the Bills' coaches and players. It was such a good heist, the analysts didn't even see it happening when it was right in front of them.

10/10/21 Gameday SNF Bills @ Chiefs Postgame Thread
Dr. Who replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure Miss Piggy would agree with you, but I think the emergence of Knox does give a better picture of who they are on a level playing field. I'll take Josh. I think the Chargers are a formidable obstacle to that prediction. -
Thanks for bringing that up. I thought I must have missed something because it didn't make sense. Well, I guess Scott Law will explain how this is annoying fan bias and the officials were just fine or at least balanced in where they employed awful judgment. ESPN in their crawl inserts a comment about the RTP call that negated the Allen interception, btw. So, the Chiefs are victims of a bad call or its the Chiefs are bad, but how about Justin Herbert?

6'2" apparently. She did a nice job with the interview.
