RD 2, Pick 63: Dion Dawkins (OT) - TEM
Bill from NYC replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You see, Cujo wasn't really THAT strong in college. He played LT because he was agile. In fact, several linemen on his team were stronger than him. He only threw up 21 reps at the combines which wasn't a whole lot for a man his size. If I am not mistaken, Dawkins had 26. If Cujo really was strong he would have fared well at RT, a position where brute strength is needed. It may take a little time, but I have a feeling that Dawkins will be a good player for the Bills. We shall see. -

It would be great if you and I could simply not notice the above kind of glaring stupidity. Really, it's almost too dumb to be true. You and I would be happier sports fans if we could simply turn a blind eye to what these idiots have done to our favorite football team. Looking at those numbers, it almost looks as if Whaley was trying to lose football games, and this is without getting into some of those contracts he doled out. -
Grade the 2017 Buffalo Bills draft
Bill from NYC replied to Real McClappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I rate it a D. After all of these years we are right back on the 1st round defensive back merry go-round to losing football games. I think that most fans will never understand that what makes a draft successful is when your team wins football games. Gilmore was "good." So were countless other defensive backs that we wasted first round picks on but the team lost football games. This would seem to be pretty simple to grasp but I guess it is not. In any event, we always have hope this time of the year. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Agreed. Gil Brandt said that Whaley will certainly get a job but NOT as a GM, at least for the time being. He said he would have to do some work to ever get back to that capacity. I am paraphrasing but this is what I heard at approx. noon today on Sirius.

I saw his name before the draft and watched what little I could of him on you tube. He looked like a Guard to me, but this is not a bad thing at all. I love the fact that he played LT in college as did Andy Levitre, who played very well until he left the Bills. I like this pick a lot; it makes perfect sense. -

Like I said, it's as if we are in the movie "Groundhog Day." But instead of waking up to Andie McDowell we wake up and watch the Bills draft 1st round corners and lose football games. -
RD 1, Pick 27: Tre'Davious White (CB) - LSU

You are right. Why stop doing something that has worked so well? Let's keep drafting first round defensive backs and NEVER make the playoffs, right? Next year we can draft another one AND a running back! -

I think he means that we don't allocate enough resources to the secondary. -

Trade down again and grab a safety, then another corner or 2 in the 3rd. -

The Bills will continue to lose and in 4 years people will still argue that this was a smart draft pick because he is a "good" player. -
Official First Round Hopes and Expectation:

This team is just so easy to predict. -

Fantastic pick! What a wonderful philosophy our team continues to employ. A first round corner is a one way ticket to the super bowl, or at least deep into the playoffs! Hopefully we can find a safety in round 2. -
Bills looking to move down: rapoport

So would I, in a split second. -
If this is an inappropriate mew thread, mods please remove it. I am only posting this so it can be referred to in days to come, if anyone is that much of a fanatic. I respect all opinions and I'm curious as to who fellow posters actually want us to draft. Hopes: 1) I would like to see a qb at #10. My choice would be Watson if he is there. He may bust out but if he doesn't, we win football games and have some value in Tyrod. It's all good. 2) If no qb, trade down if we can get AT LEAST another 2nd round pick. A 3rd and a 2018 first would be great. If we go back to 20 or lower, I want Cam Robinson. A solid RT would help Tyrod AND the run game. We are presently weak at RT and teams can and will exploit this. 3) If we stay at 10 and don't take a qb, I hope Jonathan Allen is there. He is a great player with a great attitude. Hey, sorry for picking Tide players but these are the guys I watch, and have seen them in all of their games. Expectations: Despite the depth at secondary in this draft, I am almost certain that we will draft a defensive back. This even if we do not trade down. I am thinking safety, but a corner wouldn't surprise me. It's the way we roll. Also, allow me to thank the TSW posters and especially the draftniks. As rough as things can get being a Bills Fan, you folks keep it fun and entertaining, and provide the best sports dialogue on the web. I mean this. Thanks also to the mods and SDS. Enjoy the draft!!! God bless you all and GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I take quite a bit of heat about Coach Saban and the Crimson Tide so I threw a small, friendly dig. No harm intended. The truth is it can happen to any coach. These guys can only do and say so much to these kids but when it comes down to it we all have to contend with that thing called free will. ROLL TIDE!!!!!!

Hogan and Gilly Prove Bills Scouting Superiority

Fans are rightfully angry at the mess the Bills have given us. It would be hard to not make the playoffs for 17 years even if you were trying not to. So yes, anger at the Bills organization makes sense. Your anger is at the fans. You appear to hate us. I for one understand that this is your own way of coping. But passing this off as objectivity is nonsense. It's easier for you to take out your frustration on fans like Coach T, me and others than it is to face the fact that the Bills are run poorly and have been for many, many years. I think that Bills Fans are some of the most loyal, most intelligent and funniest of sports fans but hey that's just me. -

I know. He does a great job with the draft too. Look at all those starters he selected! And he sure is stingy with those draft picks!!!
