Well, the earthquake was down here on the South Island and not way up in Auckland. We certainly didn't sleep through it. It wad easily the strongest quake I've ever felt. Unfortunately the Kaikoura coast is totally buggered. They say the coast raised about 2 metres! (6ft)

Yeah, we're all good here in Nelson, but that was one helluva quake. It hit here a little after midnight and just kept going. Many aftershocks too. Check out this photo from the Kaikoura coast. (Just about 2 hours from here.)

Nope, the Hobbits and Lucy are all ok, thankfully. The main problem is that our local grocery store lost all of their wine stock from off of their shelves!!!
