  1. I'm kinda surprised to see there weren't any of those open-carry idiots walking around with assault rifles, like a month ago.
  2. I'd like to just pause and thank SDS and the mods for keeping this thread on the "Off The Wall" board, without throwing it into the cesspit that is know as the PPP board. It's important that we can all have a civil conversation about this. Let's go Buffalo!
  3. What alternatives? Uh, how about acting civil and respectful? If he broke the law, you can arrest him, but there really shouldn't be any injuries involved with arresting a 75 year old man. Apart from race, this is exactly what all of the protests are about. Police officers crossing the line and not being held accountable.
  4. Hold on... are you really saying that you don't have a problem with what the police did, or am I just confused?
  5. The point is that the police should not have acted with aggression. It's as simple as that. It was totally unwarranted. He could be the biggest a-hole in the world, but you don't do that to a 75 year old citizen of the community that you're supposed to be serving. Police should be setting the example and not be the thugs.
  6. Agreed. Fortunately this is shining a light on it and exposing for all to see.
  7. You just wrote that this man, "pulled similar stunts at protests in the past." Don't you think that sounds like your suggesting the possibility that this was all staged? It does to me. If it's not, then it was poorly written.
  8. So, was the blood coming out of his ears fake too?
  9. It's not anything I really like to bring up, but since we're on the subject... I witnessed this kind of schiit firsthand during anti-war protests in Portland Oregon, back in 2003. During a purely peaceful demonstration attended by a full cross-section of society (white, black, old, young) I watched as police brutalized the crowd for no reason. I witnessed a cop pepper-straying a young family right in their eyes, including a two-year old on the shoulders of her father. It was the most f'd up thing I've ever seen and was a turning point in my and my families lives.
  10. I'm assuming you've seen the similar incident which happened in Salt Lake City a couple days ago? Could you imagine if that was your dad, or your grandfather? It's absolutely disgusting. These cops have zero compassion for the people they are supposed to be serving. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhwQDKOEOq4
  11. For those of you who see no problem with this... I guess you're all getting what you deserve. Way to go!
  12. https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/6778035/australian-news-crew-assaulted-by-us-cops/?cs=14231#gsc.tab=0 ?
  13. This story was on our news, here in New Zealand tonight. What a heartbreaking thing to watch coming from back home. https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/300028844/utterly-disgraceful-new-york-police-officers-suspended-after-viral-video-shows-them-shoving-75yearold-man-to-ground I may be half a world away, but I stand fully with the protestors.
  14. Weren't there over 21,000 new cases and over a thousand new deaths in the US yesterday?
  15. There's a lot of great back-to-back songs. One of my favorite pairings has to be The Grateful Dead with China Cat Sunflower/I know you Rider.
  16. OK. So, who are the people doing the organizing and paying?
  17. Now, why would they do that? Seriously. Do you honestly think people from around the country are targeting Buffalo? That makes no sense to me.
  18. Last night we received an email from Air New Zealand informing us that our August flights to the Cook Islands (Rarotonga and Aitutaki) have been canceled. Bugger! I was so looking forward to escaping our winter.
  19. You know those coin operated binocular viewers at Niagara Falls? About 5-6 years ago, I had one shipped all the way out here to New Zealand, where it now proudly sits on the deck, overlooking Tasman Bay. (Had a couple motorbikes shipped down here too, through the years.) Best advice about shipping and freighting is to keep asking and searching around. Chances are you'll find a deal.
  20. Why they fought.
  21. How, what a blast from the past. I had totally forgotten about MDA carnivals. I used to love them, as a kid in the 70's. I've been away from NYS for a long time now and had no idea these things were still going.
